My first apocalypse game
I dont know what everyone had, because after a point you lose track of things like the number of leman russ tanks, or just how many terminator squads.. but heres a rough outline
We had 7 players divided into two forces.. by alignment and force size.. On the side of Order were My grey knights, under the joint command of Brother Captain Stern and Grand Master Theobold, a force of Ultramarines under Calgar with one baneblade attached, a force of Dark Templar, and a detachment of craftworld Eldar. The side of chaos was Chaos marines under abbadon, with 2 titans, and two companies of mixed traitor guard and chaos marines, with a third titan and five baneblades, along with 12 leman russ tanks, and several other ordinance launchers. The table setup was six tables laid out in an elongated diamond, with three single point objectives on each of the narrow ends, and one 5 point objective in the middle of the massive 4 table set up.. that had No terrain on it. total points was about 1500 per side, and I was not able to take orbital bombardments, due to hitting the point cap of what the chaos forces had with them.
I was fielding 3700 points of knights, mostly in defense of our home ojectives, with my land raiders advanced up as far as i could put them to try and cross no-mans-land, and all my terminators set to deepstrike.
Turn one sees the entire battery of chaos open up on the column of land raiders, knocking 5 of the 12 out of commision, and turn two is a continuation of that. Turn three saw the forces of order reach combat range and begin dismantling tanks, as it starts to rain chaos terminators, and dreadnought drop pods in the middle of no mans land. The Eldar used a strategic redeployment to get within striking distance of the 5 point center objective with a large force, so the chaos player with 2 titans removed its ability to provide points. Also on turn 3, Brother captain stern arrived far to the rear of the chaos forces.. rather close to abbadons location. However, with time drawing short, instead of opening fire on abbadon... He pulled out his Vortex Grenade, and removed an objective (and a defiler) from the chaos backfield. The Fully deployed and engaged chaos forces were unable to contest or destroy any other objectives, and the Dark templar reveal that they had taken the strategic asset to double to point value of an objective, leading Order to a 4/2 victory over people with far too much money.

That is awesome! I was going to say no Titans for the side of Order while 3 Titans on the Chaos side?!?!?

3700 points of grey knights is still not too bad.. when you consider i had my justicars decked out to 130ish points, my brother captains to 161, my grandmaster to 250ish, and took every available upgrade on 3 land raiders and a dread.. and all my 'troop' choices were purgation squads.

Re: My first apocalypse game
Apocalypse games are certainly a lot of fun to play and it's definitely not that hard to rack up a high-point GK army. Heck, I only own 36 GK-related models and that's 2000 points right there. Without any frills added even. Congrats on the win.

Re: My first apocalypse game
Thank you. The guy running the event almost died laughing when I vortex grenaded the terrain piece. Everyone thought that stern and his guard were charging for abbadon and his formation of big bad traitors. He had moved 5 dreadnoughts to block them off, and I ignored them to win the game.. by removing an objective tainted by chaos.
