Re: Girls?
Haha true.
I can't stress how much of a generalisation it is, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your summary - woman mainly seem to concentrate on looking good (both physically and in what activities they do) while guys are more "accept me or not doesn't bother me much". That being said guys can have areas where they feel the need to bignote themselves in other ways, so its probably pretty equal, plus there seems to be a younger generation of males who can't see the distinction between male and female identity issues *cough* emo *cough*.
I guess the thing is with guys your social group determines what they feel is important, while for woman looks is always a huge consideration.... funnily enough the older I get the less and less looks seem to pale in comparison for other things.
If I had a dollar for every time a female friend commented on another womans looks I'd be a rich man, that being said if I also commented I'd be dead rich. And by dead I mean DEAD.

Haha, just pointing out why there are less women in hobby stores.
Yeah I know, what's the deal with Emos. It's like a goth gone wrong! I remember the good old goth/dark alternative people in my day would be thrashing around in the streets and ruling the cemetaries. , but now they're replaced by emos who sulk in dark alleys trying to cut themselves with plastic spoons.
But hey, we're not much better... listen to us, we're b*tch*ng about how emos are. Lol

Yea I have to say I mourn the day of good ole honest goths haunting the streets and staircases everywhere I went.
All the emo's make me want to carry around a stormbolter to put people out of their misery.
I guess I'm a typical human biased and discriminatory.

Re: Girls?
Oh yeah, back in the day I had a friend (girl) who played for about a couple of years as necrons and she was pretty good, had her army planned out and everything. Sadly though after I got a job and moved away I lost contact with her, she's probably still making a dozen players (victims) feel inadequate against her on the playing table.
If I remember her army it went something like this:
Necron Lord with Res. Orb, Repair Scarabs and Ctan Blade
1 squad 0f 10 Flayed Ones
3 squads of 12 Necron warriors
1 squad of 10 Scarab Swarms
1 squad of 3 destroyers
1 squad of 3 Wraiths
I did not like fighting that!

Re: Girls?
Actually a fantasy series I've read before by Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth Series) its a good series but not Warhammer related.
I also normally paint at home, so I don't spend huges amount of time at the GWS unless I'm waiting for her to finish work, so she normally doesn't have to wait long, she was just lucky my friend and I didn't have a game today.

Well, if you want her to play you can begin slowly with just her beeing in the store, maybe she gets bored and starts looking at the pics on the boxes, or on the books.
And hopefully she finds something she likes.
Don't push her, she will like if she will like something.

Yeah but............here where I live there is no GW, and only 1 store that sells GW merchandise(the store workers are very busy as there is a lot happening in there) and to be precice there is only 1 GW in the whole country and that is over 100 kilometer away from where I live. But me and those girls who play warhammer have been friends for a long time and we have a certain hall that have been booked for our private use for 1 day in a week

Re: Girls?
Even without a GW store, you seem to have an unprecidentedly high ratio of females. Which is what this thread is discussing.
I think renting out a hall is a brilliant thing to do.
Does your local store participate/supply terrain etc... or do you and all of the girls supply your own?

Re: Girls?
I would guess the actual GWS environment would scare alot of girls away, so maybe doing all the Warhammer stuff somewhere else helps?
I don't know about your GWS's but in ours the guys are trying to entertain all the 10 year old kids, which can be quite funny, but most likely woman/girls find it just stupid

Which GW store is that? The one I go to they tend to tell the kids to shut up (as nicelly as possible) so they can take care of the older generation... like me.

Re: Girls?
Hmmm.
This is very interesting, considering how different individual stores are, not to mention countries!
And Ezekiel.
If your closest store in finland is 100km away.
I dunno where you live but have you considered going west? It might be closer if you live in northern finland to go west to Umeå.
You have to cross the water or drive around it, but it might be closer.
But then again, i don't know where you live, just trying to give you an alternative you might not have thought off and perhaps a closer one.

Ahhh well all the GWS's I've visited in Aus are pretty similar.
Workers are always pretty good with the kids and go out of their way to make the games and everything really fun for them.
Not to say they don't tell them to shutup when they come running up asking for something while they are trying to help you, but they are just generally really good for the younger generation.
They also do games like batreps which keeps the young uns interested

I dunno where that Umeå is but I live in the south Finland and acording to the GW store finder the closest GW shop is at Helsinki and Helsinki/Helsingfors is 100km at least from my home.
And yes Constantine we have to make your own terrain and bords(or buy them), but we do get the things to make terrain from that shop(we have to buy it)

Aha, you live in south finland.
Well Umeå is in northern sweden so it's probably even further away.
100km, hmm, that aint too bad, you can drive that far in an hour.
I used to drive 100km every day (50there, 50 home) and it isn't that bad.
But it isn't like you just take a walk and hang 20 min at the local gw, that i understand.
