Girls?

Wow. I've never even met or seen a female W40K player

i've seen a few warhammer ones.

perhaps a 40k, but not that i remeber it.

Theres a local female Nid collecter, she has a winged army and has done an amazing job on them

I know two girls at our store, they both collect sisters of battle and one likes vampires.
Ohyeah and one of them has a pink exorcist that looks like something that a barbie might ride inside!

They both don't seem dragged into it by their bf's but seem to enjoy it.

Girls? Hah, I see some cut ones walking by the store from time to time but its a rare occasion any of them actually step foot in the store. Especially when they realize "Gamesworkshop" is not about video games.

I try and only visit the shop during school hours for the obvious reasons, so I wouldn't be suprised if most other older collectors, including the women do the same!

Something that felt pretty odd happened the last time i was at my local gaming club.

Girls girls girls, wherever you looked there was at least 1 in sight.

Although they were probably only 3-4 of them, i've never seen that many at the club ever.

I asked if this was a new thing (i haven't been there for a long time before that) but it was more like a once in a hundred thing.

Too bad.

There are 2-3 Girls at the LGS I go to(same LGS as the one I played against Rivan at). 2 play Marines(One of 'em plays Technicolour Marines!), the other plays board games(not 40k, but yeah). Apart from them, Girls in Singapore think these are either "cute","interesting" or "Nerdy/Geeky"

I am AMAZED this thread is as long as it is Who knew the fact that there are rerely any girls/women at GWs' could stimulate so much conversation!

I am AMAZED by the fact that brother Constantine managed to kill the thread by mentioning how popular it was. Kind'o fun.

At my "local" GW, there's actually an employee who's of the opposite gender. And I can give you this hint: I'm a guy. Which means, that the employee is a... Girl, exactly, nicely done.

Which means that there's usually a girl at my GW.

Or well, haven't been there for a couple of months actually, so she might have left. Don't think so though. Will come back to the subject after I've payed them a visit!

Haha, well, I think I've mentioned it before, but I shall say it again, at the LGS I go to, there are 3 girls working there, of which 2 paint and play while the other plays boardgames, interesting fact, 1 of the girls who paints, paints REALLY well and is also the co-boss of sorts at the store.

i've got a theory for the poor number of girls in the hobby
it's about biology and chemistry : people who discover the hobby are generally about 12 or 13 years old.
At this age girls have only one thing in their mind : Boys
so... after the hurricane of puberty rare are the girls who are interested by the hobby... too wary

And the idea of collecting and painting small plastic and metal men with big shoulder pads and guns doesn't really appeal to the general girl as it appeals to the general guy.

But, there is lots of exeptions.

Girls seem to play warhammer more often than 40k though, or perhaps that's just me.

Yea and alot of girls like to just paint the models. A friend of me was painting a few miniatures when his girlfriend came over. He went like: Here, you can also paint a few. And then apparently she kept painting until almost all where painted!

Most of the girls I met were into DE and SOB. They tend to appreciate the painting and story line. The battles and strategy is where their stomachs are not into so much.

Doesn't really apply to the general guy lots of people I know my own age (mid 20's) wouldn't touch 'toy soldiers' let alone listen to what the games about.

Although i think there are more guys than girls, proven by simply going down to your closest gw a few days and counting the emount of girls respective boys numbers.

Ome people will disagree but i still claim the space marines and the other "cute plastic men" appeal more to lads than lasses.

On another note i got free food today, speaking of nothing.

But to just actually be on topic,I disagree on there being more guys playing than girls,but I guess my area is a bit different,since most(some) of you allready know that I live in a densely girl-player populated area.However is it a good or a bad thing,that I cannot tell you.
