Grey Knight Novels =][=

I was wondering if there are any discusions about the Black Library's Grey Knight trilogy

I personally really enjoyed them and would be interested in hearing what my Brother's thought of them.

I have read the first (almost twice, reading for the 2'nd time at the moment) and found it very sweet and cozy!

They are from black library, might be heard too get the first ones i've heard though.
But i'm not sure!

They are nice, at least the first one!

In my opinion Brother Klomster the first one is the best. I love the opening on the Daemon world !!!!
The second one Dark Adeptus Is...ok.
But the third Hammer of Daemons is right back up to speed and is an awesome read (that rhymes )

Hard to say really. William King was one of the better writers. After him the new guy (Forgot his name) Wrote the one after Wolfblade. It was trash. This last one was really good though.

I would have to say that the space wolf novels are a close second to the GK trilogy
They are written really well and are a pleasure to read.
The last one is a bit of a tear jerker

Maybe he's going to become a Terminator but I don't really know about this, having not read the books. (Why am I even saying anything?)

Does Alaric have power or terminator armour?

He is promoted to brother captain, but is only a justicar in the beginning, it is unclear in the first book!

Maybe he gets one later cos it's only termies on the front page arts (as i see it)

I know it sounds wierd, but the novels always focus on how Alaric is able to think for himself, and hinting that he is destined for something bigger (I SAY HERESY!!!!! to that point, I can't think of a bigger honor than being Grey Knight!!! But thats just me ).
Also it is mentioned that because of Alaric's free thought, promotions are unlikely, which lead me to think that inquisitor was an option I can't really think of any other options.....A GK wouldn't become part of a retinue would he

Alaric always gets too hear that he must face many trials before becoming higher rank, but everyone is just talking about his future as an officer, kinda, so i would think that great future is becoming grand master.

It might just be my misinterpretsation of the novels, but I got the feeling that the author was hinting at something outside of the Chapter . I know this theory doesn't fit with the 40K fluff though....hhmmmmm......
I am planning on reading the novels over again soon so maybe the rereads will clarify things for me

The answer brother, is no. Alaric works closely with Brother Tankred in the first novel who is a GKT, but retains his PAGK status throughout the entier trilogy.

Alaric could never be a Custodes. They're genetically stonger than Marines or GK.

It would be perfectly plausible for Alaric to become an inquisitor.

What he went through in Hammer of Daemons was THE ultimate test.

Alaric has allways put the Imperium, the Holy God-Emperor (blessed be his name) and every ounce of faith he has into being a protector of humankind. That and just that single purpose and singular thinking has made Alaric a Grey Knight to become a Grey Knight Terminator (althought his Psychic Abilities don't even come close to those of Brother-Captain Dvorn) and maybe, maybe....if he lives long enough... he could even become a Grand Master. But still, what makes Brother Justicar Alaric such a great asset to the Grey Kngihts Chapter is his singular purpose, and that is never, ever, to stop fighting for the duration of the Imperium!

And you, every Brother of our honoured Grey Knights Chapter, listen carefully to my words,

Alaric is not a Terminator.
His faith has never been an issue either. It his "thinking outside of the box" that has prevented him from progressing further in the holy ranks of the Grey Knights.
I believe if a GK can go through the trials that Alaric faced in Hammer of Daemons and remain true, then none can question his faith. However there is always an underlying theme in the novels that Alaric is somehow apart from his brothers, this is what I am trying to understand

What people don't realize (Especially the ones who haven't read the book) is that Alaric needs to be uhhh thoroughly checked and tested.

Alaric spends a lot of time with the Grey Knight's Chaplain, if there was any hint of taint on him besides his Khorn brand LOL!!
then it would be detected.
I shouldn't need to remind you that not a single Grey Knight has ever fallen.
Keep the faith Brother, Alaric is still with us.
