As stated above GK are a very different army, especially from SM, so it can be quite a transition of playstyles, that being said having some with your main army for a while to see how they work and their strengths and weaknesses is a brilliant idea.
Also allying them to your main force allows you to start using them without the main GK weakness - feilding a tiny army model wise.

Its an honor to join my brothers on Titan. I was recruited from the South African province of Terra. I have discarded my tribal name of Weber and taken up the name of Strasz. I look forward to cleansing the galaxy of it daemonic corruption.

I've been playing 40k for a few months now, started off with Eldar, and wanted to do a Grey Knight army from the moment I saw the models and paged through the codex. I've purchased a few models thus far adding up to just underneath 750 points.

Welcome to the forums! Very original avatar thats for sure They are hard to come by since artwork isn't all that plentiful on the GK's. Afterall most of the people who see us die!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Im planning to build up my army in relative secrecy and then unleash it at the local club one night.

That'll be cool. Suddenly, seemingly from no where, the Grey Knights arrive to wreak devastation on the emperor's foes!!!

...and just as quickly disappears into the shroud of secrecy whence they came...

....... and when the other imperial forces come to the scene, they find their foe beaten by a mysterious force, with no clue as to how.......
