Paladins Empty Paladins

Post by Rion Thu Jun 20, 2013 11:47 pm

I got inspired by Bowlzee's list (https://greyknights.forumotion.com/t3691-2k-draigowing) and here's my own little variant.

HQ
Draigo - 275
Bradley - 90
-OXI: Power Armor, Pyker (Communion), Rad Grenades, 3 Servo Skulls

Elites
Inquisitorial Warband - 45
-5x Warrior Acolytes with Hot-Shot Lasguns and Flak Armor

Troops
-10x Paladins, with 4 Psycannons, 4 Hammers, 6 Swords/Halberd (change as needed) - 630
-5x Paladins, with 2 Psycannons, 2 Hammers, 3 Swords/Halberd (change as needed) - 315
-1x Five man Strike Squad, Justicar with halberd, Squad with Psybolt ammo and Psycannon - 135

Heavy Support
-3x Psyflemen Dreadnoughts - 405

Fortification
Aegis Defense line with Quad Gun -100

Battle Plan: Place my objectives (if there are any) behind the Aegis along with Bradley, the Warband and the Strike Squad, with Bradley manning the gun and using his Skulls and power to bring Draigo in from reserve as close as he can to the enemy line. Then Draigo and his men becoming a slow moving wave of death towards my enemies and to claim objectives. While the Dreadnoughts do their thing and shoot stuff. Planning on testing it this weekend. As usual comments /suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

problem with draigo and paladins becoming a "slow wave of death" is if you're up against an opponent who can bring a LOT of firepower against you (eldar, dark eldar, tau, IG...) then for all their greatness in terminator armour they WILL die before you can really get them into assault range where they belong.

Better to try and deepstrike them right into the enemy and pray you can keep them in combat and safe from shooting.

Good luck play testing!

I posted the results of the play test in the battle reports section. But yeah the servo skulls helped with the deep striking alot.

Paladin force....my ideas....

HQ

Draigo

TROOPS

Paladin Squad (10 man)
3 M/C Psycannons
625

Paladins (10 man)
3 M/C Psycannons
625

HEAVY SUPPORT

Dreadknight
Heavy Incinerator
Personal Teleporter
235

Dreadknight
Heavy Incinerator
Personal Teleporter
235

1995

You could combat squad the paladins....or bring them down in 2 big blobs. Either scouting or scoring dreadknights...

I like the list, but why not 4 psycannons per squad? And what about anti-air?

anti-air is definitely a problem, but I will freely admit that a paladin force is probably my least favorite type of build as you get extremely expensive units for not very much return. 2 wound terminators with a slightly higher WS....

I don't see the point of spending 275 points to make one paladin squad troops. but any more than that and as you can see you rapidly run out of points and options...
