Multiple Jokaero
Ok, I have been working on a 1500 point tourney list and when I mentioned one of the units, my reading of the rules varied wildly from the perspective of the member of GW staff.
So, I am running Inquisitorial and have a unit of 4 Jokaero and 2 Crusaders.
I was saying that, although they were a gorgeous little unit, the customisation wasn't so great because I could only really get anything useful on a roll of a 1 (Rending) - the unit already has 5++/3++ saves and The works just means I get to reroll the dice and hope for a 1
However, the member of staff looked in the codex and said (I'm paraphrasing)
"For each Jokaero in the unit you roll a dice, the first gets a standard roll, the second gets a roll with +1 to the results, the third gets a roll with +2 and the fourth gets a roll with +3 to the result - the codex doesn't say you only roll once and add the number of additional Jokaero to the result'
Now, if this is right, it's horrific! I can see it working that way if it's played as read, but I wanted to see what people thought?

Re: Multiple Jokaero
Yup, basically you never want more than 5 in a squad (if you get incredibly unlucky and roll just 1s then you need 5 to guarantee that you get all the upgrades). They're pretty badass and i'm tempted to get 10 of them for an allied list just so i can field some other force and allythem with Coteaz and his (twin-linked) monkey minions (of doooooom - enjoy my 60 inch lascannon shots that rend purely because they can!)

Re: Multiple Jokaero
Sadly, I'd have to say it's one roll only. The exact wording is "When an Inquisitorial Henchmen Warband containing one or more Jokaero is deployed, roll a D6 on the following chart." Thus you only receive one roll per unit.
Hence, the optimal number of Jokaero is 2-3 depending on whether you want the 12" bonus or not. It's easier to get the double roll with three, but denies the possibility of receiving anything under a 3 on the chart.

Re: Multiple Jokaero
I have to say I agree with Tiberius, great name by the way, roll 1 D6 and add +1 for each additional jokaero model. Aside from the rules, I'm not real happy with the idea of these furry guys, it just doesn't fit the bill for fluff for me I mean a gorilla that builds stuff?

Re: Multiple Jokaero
Just a remark :
Jokaeros exist in the fluff since the Rogue Trader days.
It´s not a retcon from our new codex.
Jokaeros had the same look and the same technologic habilities 30 years ago.
You can find a very old model of one Jokaero in the topic "digging the Acheovaults of GW".

Re: Multiple Jokaero
Jokaeros are best when you take 2 of them cause it means you get best chance of rolling The Works, and then something else.
After 2 they become very expensive unit espcecially as they cannot increase their BS beyond 3!

Yeah i've had my best luck with 2 jokaero. Occasionally I'll get lucky and get the +12 and rending, although it never fails that it's the jokaero in the unit with the three bolter acolytes instead of the unit with the three plasma servitors and three plasma acolytes.

Re: Multiple Jokaero
having said that it does go nicely if you use 2 jokaero and 3 plasma cannon servitors. rolling the works for plasma cannons and getting the rending and added range is nasty. add in an inquisitor with prescience and it's t-l all the way!

That sound fun and and effective.
They should make another model of the Jokaero. The one they have is great but since aso many are using more than one it would add a mild increase in diversity and be less video gameish.

It's not just the jokaero. The offcial crusaders and death cult assassins are also something people would want lots of but they only do like 2 poses. Fortunately for the style I chose for my Inquistorial army I found some sweet alternatives in the GW range.

Don't see any anything wrong with what you said. I like the idea of more Death cultists and maybe more deamonhosts too.
