Grey Knight Novels =][=

I really enjoyed Grey Knights. It was very involving and "believable".

Dark Adeptus was a little harder to get to enjoy, cause it felt too much like a video game setting (a bit like the later Salamander novel Firedrake) with the mechanicus enemies and the Boss Battle at the end (Castigator STC).
Still, worth a read.

Hammer of Daemons, I must confess, I actually read before I got the GK Ominbus, so I kind of approached this book blind. Not really knowing Alaric at all or any of his backstory.
Still, the idea of the space marine fighting in the daemonworld arenas was compelling, and his eventual escape to return to Titan was done pretty well.
Only thing I really have beef with was the fact a Justicar of the Grey Knights should be bested a medium level Chaos Lord when mere battle brothers of lesser chapters can best ancient and far greater enemies (Ultramarines i'm looking at you....)

Was that only a medium level Chaos Lord? He seemed pretty tough to me.........Summoning mountains of blood to throw Alaric from, and commanding a fair bit of respect on the Daemon world............

It has been a while since I read the Hammer of Daemons so I may be mistaken.
I know that in the Ultramarine novels Captain Uriel does beat some impressive foes, so I am assuming this is what you're refering to, but don't forgrt that the Ultramarines are GW's favorites so are bound to get a little extra lovin'

I am really curious if the Black Library is going to bring out any more GK stuff to tie in with the upcomming release

alas ... the french editor has been fired by BL which intend to create a BL France branch ... with a lot of projects and good intentions but i fear the difficulties and the delay regarding translation... and the delay for editing the GK omnibus and others

Just picked up victories of the Space Marines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am VERY excited to read the latest tales of Brother Alaric's adventures!
I have started reading the first story about SWs, and so far I am liking what I am seeing

Well..................... I couldn't take it any more and skiped to the GK story! I must say that I was actually quite dissapointed

I think that it is cool to know how GK bullets and armour are blessed/made. But in terms of turning that into a story, I was not impressed.

The story started out fantastically with the teleporting, and the initial fight in the hallways, but unfortunately went steadily down hill from that point on.

What did you think Brothers? Were you equally disapointed, or did you enjoy the story?

Just picked the book up myself but I'm trying ever so hard to read the rest of the stories first!

The other stories that I read are quite good. The Space Wolf story at the begining is actually one of my favorites.
Enjoy the book, and let me know what you thought of the GK story when you are done.

I've just finished reading the book. I actually managed to leave the Grey Knight story until the end. I've got to say it was interesting to see what goes into everything, but overall I was a little dissapointed with it.

As for the rest of the book, I think the Space Wolf story and the Imperial Fist story both stand out for me. Well written, great plot and a little Klingon saying at the end of the Imperial Fist one made me smile.

Now then, less reading and more painting I suppose!

Your assesment of the novel is almost exactly the same as mine.
I also really enjoyed the Blood Angels story.

Hammer of Daemons was sweet, the books are like potato chips, you just can't stop at one, you have to have another. I hope they start with a series on GM Draigo.

I am actually going to read all of the GK novels over again. I stated Grey Knights yesterday.
I miss the old days when NFWs could take any form

A Draigo series would be epic! I must admit that I would prefer to read about Mordrak instead, but I will take what I can get

Finally finished hammer of daemons I think it was the best story in the grey knights series. It kept me wanting more to read at the end. I like how alaric is able to use more than just his training to beat venallitor at the end by using rage and brute strength and then getting his halberd back.

Alaric really has proved his worth now hasn't he.
I am still kinda curious how he is going to explain his Khornate brand to Chaplain Durendin

I like how he takes the time to point out how the first thing he is gonna do once he gets back to titan is have the piece of skin with the khorne brand removed. The book also shows that a grey knight doesn't need his psychic shield up to resist chaos, that they have enough faith to do it without it.

Is that why we don't have psychic hood in our wargear but get -1 to their leadership due to the aegis rule. To bad it's not accumulative for every aegis in the squad, a -9 modifier would be better than a psychic hood.

I am half way through Hammer of Daemons again. I decided to read the whole trilogy again
Still really like them all

Just finished the First Book in the omnibus and I must say that it was fantastic. I'm really loving Ben Counters writing. I've read mostly books from the Space Marine Battle novels and his writing far surpass' any author I've read from those books. Here's hoping Dark Adeptus for me is as good as the first!

well Dan Abnett is better imho... but Ben Counters is very good too !
