I just picked up a couple of BL novels.

Black tide (the next installment of the BA series), & Dark Creed (the latest Word Bearer novel)

Have any of you read these yet, or heard anything about them?

I was not overly impressed with the BA novels initially, but I have found that they are improving as they go on.

As for the Word Bearers! These novels are great!!!! Now the word bearers are up against the white scars AND Tyranids! Never really been a fan of the White Scars, so I will not cringe to much as they are killed (Heresy, I know......But I just enjoy these novels soooo much!), and it is always awesome reading about battles against the Tyranids, so I have high expectations for this novel

I'm into the fascinating story of Titanicus for the moment.

And i loved the first word bearers book becouse of all the cool mechanicus in it.

Damn Dan Abnett!! (in a good way...) Because of his book Double Eagle, I bought a couple of Thunderbolt heavy fighters. Now, because of Titanicus, I want to get a Mars pattern Reaver Titan w/ titan power fist and laser destructor

I am 108 pages into Dark Creed and the Grey Knights have made an appearance!!!!!!!!!!!
More specifically Grand-Master Havashen and his entire company and strike cruiser!!!!!!!

Now this is a Chaos novel so I am not sure what will happen, but I thought I would let you know about it.

Right now the GKs were going to assist the White Consuls fend off a Word Bearer fleet, but their transition into real space was stopped when the WBs used a Necron artifact to stop their transition. That may be all for the Knights in this novel, not sure. But again, it was a pleasent surprise for me, and I wanted to share it woth you

Nice! Hopefully they do get involved w/ the plot some more.

Grey Knights?? In another novel! AWESOME Lets hope they portray them as the awesome Daemon killing badasses they are. I must go and browse through said book to find any mention of the Knights...

i'll see if i could find it in french ... but as they don't have translated the 2nd and 3d tome of the grey knight omnibus i'm not so enthousiastic !

I wouldn't get your hopes up yet
The GKs were prevented from exiting a warp gate by a diabolic combination of Necron and chaos technology/warpcraft The GKs may have a role later in the novel, BUT... it is a Chaos novel, so they probhably won't save the day. I still have my fingers crossed that they will thwart the WB's plans somehow though I'll keep you all posted as I learn more.

Do these novels fit with the general 40K fluff?
Otherwise: pretty interesting, I might actually buy those when I have some more time to read.

So.........I finished the novel and the Grey Knights did make a final appearance!!!!!
I was on the last page!

Just read the 1kS's novel and was really astounded at how good the author was, hopefully he does some work on future GK novels, since I wasn't all that impressed by the comparison between the two novels (1kS's vs GK).

That's Graham McNeill for you He wrote the Ultramarines series too and his little bit on the GK in one of those books was awesome. I thought he wrote it better than Counter too.

I find it hard to critisize Counter too much because he has written the only GK novels we have .
I agree that the portion of the Ultramarines novel with the GKs in it was especially well written, I have yet to read the 1KS's novel, it is next on my list right after I finish The First Heretic

I think that we will get some attention from the Black Library as our Codex's release date draws nearer! It seems to be the trend with the other releases that BL novels accompany them, so I hope that it continues for us! That way we can get even more excited about all of the new characters etc... If it is even possible to be any more excited that is!

Brother Constantine, you're going to love The First Heretic. It is awesome!

I loved Thousand Sons too. Of all the CSM factions, I really like the Thousand Sons the most.

The GK Omnibus got me into the Horus Heresy and I also got into the Blood Angels Omnibus as well. I actualy enjoyed reading all three GK books and I bought the GK Omnibus to keep as a collectors Item. I plan to pass them on to my sons and maybe my daughter... she has a little chaos in her. Let's just say, in ten years, if she comes home and introduces me to her "boyfriend" I'll have to perform an "Exterminatus" in his groin area with orbital bombardment(12Guage slug). Sorry, for the deviated tangent. I liked Ben Counters approach to the GK but I expected more. Brother Alaric was a beast in the third book Hammer of Daemons(best one hands down).

Read the first two but was saving Hammer because I knew it was the last one. Now with the new dex on the horizon, the week before it's release would seem like a good time to crack it open to get me extra pumped.
