Knights of Eternity 1750
This is a list i'm currently building for use in my local club.
Have chosen the Knights of Eternity for 3 reasons:
1. They're a normal space marine chapter. Been too long since I had a normal space marine force, and having seen them in action against me (mainly Ultramarines and Iron Hands) I think I can do better.
2. They are a chapter that has no official colour scheme so can make them whatever I want.
3. Their history is cool. A chapter nearly annihilated by Hive Fleet Kraken, now its survivors band together on a lonely quest to avenge their fallen brothers and no-one, not even their fellow Chapters will stand in their way now. They aren't fighting for the Imperium now, they're fighting for revenge.
After fighting to defend citizens of the Imperium against Hive Fleet Kraken on multiple fronts, the Knights of Eternity were beset on all sides as Kraken turned a tendril of its might against the Chapter's Homeworld of Hydra Eternis (Eternity). With most of the chapter's ten companies already besieged defending the myriad worlds surrounding the Hydra Eternis sector the fortress monastery was a ripe target. Chapter Master Kerulek led the defence of the world with his senior officers and remaining space marines (High Chaplain Makio and Chief Librarian Wudan along with the elements of the Training Company and Kerulek's Praetorians) and nearly a quarter of a million pressed militia and civilians.
Hive Fleet Kraken destroyed Hydra Eternis in two months of ceaseless slaughter. Kerulek's body, torn apart, was later found by Imperial relief forces who arrived a month too late. The rest of the marines were killed to a man, damning the remaining companies on the outlying worlds and other sectors to a bleak future.
But Kraken's fury was not spent. As it consumed the Hydra Cordonis system it annihilated the 4th Company of the Knights of Eternity. At Hydra Secundus it destroyed nearly all the 3rd company, leaving only 3 marines under the Company Chaplain Laertes, who managed to get off the planet alive. Only the second company, with their captain killed in a suicidal assault to buy his Librarian, Epistolary Phobos, time to regroup the company and make for the spaceport, survived in any kind of numbers (45 marines).
With most of the chapter's armoury destroyed, and only a handful of survivors from the other companies, Laertes and Phobos found themselves as the only senior officers with a smattering of veteran sergeants from the 5th and 7th companies, along with 2 surviving apothecaries.
Phobos, as senior librarian, took on the heavy mantle of command, with Laertes as his second. The two opposing parts of the chapter (spiritual and ethereal) were thrown together and forced to work closer than any other chapter save maybe the mythical Grey Knights.
As the only remaining operational Strike Cruiser, "Eternal Vigilance" travelled between the ravaged worlds of the Hydra Primaris sector the Knights of Eternity were able to salvage only a few of the weapons of war they had had access to for so long.Only 10 predators, some in nearly irreparable condition. 9 razorbacks, 3 rhinos, 5 landspeeders, from an armoury that once numbered such vehicles in the hundreds.
And of the First Company, who were sent out by Kerulek to reinforce each of the companies with Sternguard and Vanguard squads, and the precious Terminator assault and strike suits.....only 8 members of the First Company were found alive nearly buried under an administratum building on Hydra Cordonis.
Restricted by this, and with such few resources that the Imperium officially deleted the Knights of Eternity from their status as an active Space Marine Chapter, Phobos and Laertes came to the conclusion that their mission for the Imperium was over. Only revenge mattered now on the tyranid fleet that had robbed them of their position and honour. While some in the remaining battle brothers were uneasy about the implications of this decision, the majority accepted that they would never fight as a normal space marine chapter again.
Laertes was quite forceful in his determination of their new mission: "Whatever, whoever, no matter their allegiance, stands in the way of our revenge upon the foul beasts shall taste my crozius on their flesh!"
With their strike cruiser and reduced strength the Knights of Eternity took their fight across the Imperium to face their foe Hive Fleet Kraken. In that time they fave myriad different adversaries, some alien, some imperial......

@Corennus Fairly solid list and not much that I think needs drastic changing, although have to see not a fan of MSU with the Vanilla dex personally, but that's probably because I'm used to doing it with SW and they do it much better.

Re: Knights of Eternity 1750
Thanks for the feedback.
While they're not technically traitors, they work more as Soldiers of Fortune.
In M41 995.5 a Space Marine chapter was reported annihilated by a tendril of Hive Fleet Kraken. Finding themselves deleted from imperial records the survivors banded together to fight as soldiers of fortune.
Now, if you have a problem. If no-one else can help, and you can find them. Maybe you could hire The Eternity Team! LOL
No their attitude is much more "We'll help you but in return since some of us will die we'll take our pick of your strongest men and best equipment"
They'll also quite happily not respond to requests for aid from people who have nothing to offer them

Re: Knights of Eternity 1750
Well I took the list against Dark Eldar and lost initiative for first turn.
Watched as Dark Lances and Blasters took my razorbacks and tanks apart, leaving me with 3 operational vehicles by turn 2 and nothing that could hurt the approaching raiders.
Lesson learned here:
Black Templars and landraiders.

Re: Knights of Eternity 1750
Your army is pretty much the perfect matchup in many respects for DE, particularly when they get first turn (and are lance heavy).
Lots of low AV is great for DE lances. Plus all the 5 man squads are easy for them to drown in shots or attacks.
You could use the BA codex, for an extremely similar list, and get the 5 man assault squads for a discount on razors with better weapons. It won't help the particular matchup you have faced today, but I think you could probably end up with a slightly more powerful build with very similar units.
Its not that hard to be a successor chapter of course, and if you like your fluff, the black/red rage represents your survivors vengeful attitude.
Just an option. Some people don't like to make it work, some do.
Black Templar raiders do laugh at lances, but they die all the same to melta as far as I know, and DE have ways of delivering that too!
I think you'll also have issues versus GK, lots of psycannons will really hurt your force.
I'm not really sure what to add, as I'm not that familiar with the SM codex.
In a similar situation I'd probably suggest trying to make a vehicle wall with your higher AV facings towards the lances.
Maybe a squad in a drop pod? Sternguard are quite nasty, and could be quite effective with the right loadout versus almost anyone.

sternguard are an option, and when I last played DE I was actually seeing if a Crimson Fists army would work. Unfortunately I had them in rhinos and therefore wasn't able to take advantage of their combi-meltas cause he stayed out of range.
I'm going to put together a drop pod list, not sure how i'd proxy drop pods though....

Re: Knights of Eternity 1750
Yea its a bit of a hard one. DE are quite challenging because first turn becomes so important. Depending on placement and who goes first one or the other army can pretty much just die.
You could use reserves. But its highly unreliable. I don't tend to recommend if unless you have shennigans to effect your rolls.
You could swap two LasPreds for a LR. You would still have a uphill battle, but keep two TL LC, and a rock to hide other tanks behind.
Smoke first turn you would hopefully survive or absorb enough enemy fire to limit damage to the rest of your force.

I don't really have anything technical to add, but the reason you're using the army is fantastic. I care a lot about fluff when deciding things like this. If I don't care about the army as a whole on some deeper level, then I likely won't pride myself in its use.

Re: Knights of Eternity 1750
Some time after the near total destruction of the chapter the remnants of the Knights of Eternity came under the command of Captain Arven Marius, one-time Captain of the 10th company of the chapter.
How Marius had survived on Hydra Eternis for nearly 2 years is a tale he is unwilling to relate to even Phobos and Laertes. Suffice to say when they returned to the desolate planet following an intermittent comm. Signal they found the captain half dead on top of a rocky outcrop half a kilometre from the fortress. Subsequent investigations revealed a hidden storehouse of arms and equipment that had been constructed on the orders of the dead Chapter Master to house the chapter’s relics and remaining weaponry.
There the librarian and chaplain found the bodies of the 10th Company, dragged there by their surviving captain, along with evidence of how he survived.
The secret complex allowed the Knights to replenish the losses they had suffered in equipment to a degree. Over the previous two years they had suffered casualties in their efforts to aid worlds crying out for help, but equipment was harder to replace than men.
The proud predators and vindicators they had scavenged lay in disrepair or barely functional without the necessary parts for the survivors few techmarines to use.
They found not only parts, but three operational thunderfire cannons, and 5 attack bikes....
On returning to the strike cruiser with these prizes, Phobos and Laertes considered their options. Marius was senior to them in rank, and the second most decorated captain behind the now dead Garrett of the 1st Company. But would their outlook now and mission conflict with the captain’s beliefs?
The outcome of the conversation between the two subordinates and the captain ended with Marius striking Laertes to the floor and proclaiming him to be ruled by hatred. Marius then rounded on Phobos, daring him to strike him down with his powers or accept Marius as his commander.
Phobos accepted, and Marius’ first act as commander was to imprison Laertes in the strike cruiser’s brig,
He then proclaimed that the chapter would give aid to whoever needed it, but at a price.
Any world the Knights of Eternity came to and aided would be expected to give up their best men for induction into the Knights’ ranks to bring them up to a full company strength.
“I cannot bring back the chapter” Marius stated, “But I cannot make war with less than a company behind me. Not war on the scale I intend”
He reorganized the battleforce to take advantage of the new equipment the Knights now had, while learning from previous errors on the part of Phobos and Laertes:
