Buff or Fluff
Ok, so we've had a few days to mull over the new Codex, and I'm sure we've all got great ideas on how we are gonna adapt our current forces, so here's a challange for us all!
Reply on this thread listing a unit and it's equipment combination that will make it really buff (cheesy/powerful) or really Fluff (in keeping with the background etc) *Remember no points values!*
Let's put our heads together and create a thread of awesome possibilities and give our GK Brothers some great ideas for units!

Mmmm I'll start witha favorite of mine.
Stormraven, TL Assault Cannon, TL MM, Hurricane Bolters, Psybolt ammo. LR with wings, but 4 S7 TL rending shots, 6 (12) S5 TL shots, and 4 pie plates of psyker hate is quite awesome IMO. Though not suitable for all armies out there.

Re: Buff or Fluff
Here's my HQ unit and bodyguards:
GM w/ m-c sword, SB, rad & psychostroke grenades
5 Paladins:
1 w/ p-cannon & halberd
1 w/ p-cannon & sword
1 w/ m-c hammer
1 w/ warding stave
1 w/ banner
They will always have a ride, usually a LRC and will usually be joined by my Libby. Fluffwise, paladins are assigned as bodyguards to grandmasters. Each paladin is different so I can take advantage of wound allocation goodness. Warding stave can help protect against PF and/or TH attacks that can instant kill. Whether on the charge or receiving a charge, both rad and psychostroke grenades will work. Banner gives me a total of 25 (5 for the GM; 4 for the libby) force weapon attacks + 4 regular attacks on the charge, plus auto-pass force kill for the squad. Libby will usually use MoT and Quicksilver on them.
They will already mostly wound on 3's (due to rad grenades) even w/o Hammerhand or MoT. Depending on psychostroke grenades, they can even automatically hit w/ all their attacks (#2 result)

Re: Buff or Fluff
I was just chuckling at the prospect of having a Rhino with 10 Arco-flagellents, if you can get a libby nearby casting Quicksilver and Hammerhand thats potentially:
50 attacks
at I 10
needing 3's to hit and 2's to wound on most
cue ridiculous amounts of armour saves!! lol! so funny!!

Re: Buff or Fluff
Libby added to a 10 man squad of purifiers with falchions
give them a stormraven/landraider and cruise them up the enemy or give them scout via grandmaster.
cast quicksilver and might of titan with the libby, add hammerhand of the purifiers to it or activate the force weapons for multiple wound models.
22 shots at S5 ap 5 going to
43 attacks on the charge, 53 if falchions do grant +2 attacks.
at ninitative 10
Strength 5/6 +1w6 armor pen
all power/force weapons.
470 points for 11 models. way more models than paladins though the same amount of wounds. on top of that, cheaper.
i used them yesterday.
that unit took out 8 bossbikers, lost 2 men due battlewagon shooting + orkboy shooting, killed off the orkboys via sweeping advance with losing one model. in the following turn it destroyed a deff dread close combat weapon + immobilized it via shooting and destroyed it in the following assault phase. all that because my enemy was so frightened because of mordrak deepstriking close to his deployment so i was able to bring the rest of my army in position.

*taking notes*
I think this is a great thread, and nice ideas can come in order to build lists. Sort of a huge brainstorming session. Great idea!

Mordrak with his 5 Ghost Knights, 4 Halberds and 1 sword. Attach lvl 3 Librarian, with warding stave servo skulls etc. Deepstrike turn 1 no scatter into good cover, use the summoning next turn to bring over terminators or what not without scatter due to teleport homer.

Re: Buff or Fluff
I'm actually tempted to make a GKT army with Mordrak and another GM/BC as the other HQ. It would be a DS heavy army, but your looking at getting peeps on the table with a 2+ on only Turn 2! After that, it's a bit silly if you don't that initial roll...
It would be sweet though, but your looking at having someone left on their own for a single turn before help arrives.

Re: Buff or Fluff
Take either a Librarian or Dreadknight and be sure to cast Dark Excommunication on it. Daemon players will be sure to give it the 2++ save against our CC attacks. But at a distance, your best bet is to saturate it with fire.
