Trinity [My fluff]
Chapter 1: Interred
Our story begins, appropriately, with a Grey Knight battle-brother by the name of Averrus. Born sometime in the mid-35th millenium, Averrus was noted for his preternatural connection with the warp; among the primitives on the feral world he was born amongst, he was known as the God-Son, capable of conjuring sorcerous magicks by the time he was capable of walking. His psychic signature was powerful enough to quickly catch the attention of the Ordo Hereticus' Witch-Hunters, though given his extreme youth, he was spared the silvered blade and instead packed onto one of the Inquisition's Black Ships. There he remained for two more years. When he spoke, his words were precise, assured, and purposeful; he spoke with the experience of a fully-grown man, not a child. The servants of the Inquisition aboard the Black Ship watched him carefully for corruption, but he passed all of their tests of purity readily. He was earmarked, as such, for the Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus, or rather, their Chamber Militant; the Grey Knights. When eventually the Grand Master of the 5th Brotherhood of the Grey Knights was brought aboard to select the potential candidates for training to become a Grey Knight, Averrus was one of the few who went without question or fear. He readily passed all of the most strenuous of tests of the Grey Knights, and would later become a Librarian of the Grey Knights, given his incredible talent for channeling his psychic abilities. Averrus was one of a select number of Librarians who would attain the rank of Brother-Captain within the Grey Knights. Despite the immense power he wielded, he never succumbed to any of the daemonic temptations, though they were many and often, his soul-signature in the warp blazing like a lighthouse to the foul creatures who ever hungered for a taste of the experience of the material realm. However, his purity was too great, his strength of mind rivaling, and perhaps even superior to, that of the Grand Masters. Many were the victories he claimed in the name of the Emperor against the daemonic, the heretics who worshiped them, and even against foul xenos scum who themselves found themselves witlessly heralding daemonic incursions upon the realm of the blessed Emperor's domain.
It was, therefore, the cruelty of fate that would lay Librarian-Captain Averrus low not in righteous battle against the unholy, but rather by the cowardly stroke of an eldar witchblade; drawn across his throat and into his chest from behind, Averrus did not fall easily, his last unaided words spitting a canticle of damnation, rending the xenos scum's body asunder with a crackle of sorcerous energy, before he fell into sleeping death, his sus-an membrane keeping him alive, but just barely. He was brought back to Titan, and the Apothecaries of the Grey Knights revived him long enough to ask him to decide his fate. But Averrus was not content with eternal sleep within the vaults of Titan...his was duty that was meant to endure until the end of time, and so it was that he was interred within a Dreadnought's hull, where he would forever be able to lend his might of will and purity of purpose to his fellow battle-brothers. It was the Emperor's guiding inspiration that brought him to this state, for he would do battle once more with the foul xenos race that had lain him low, and he would do it alongside another Brother-Captain and Champion of the Grey Knights...one who would determine the fate of billions of Imperial souls...
But that is for the next chapter. Stay tuned!
