As far as non GW models being used in tournies, I believe that only was with the GW sponsored Grand Tournaments. I know with the Adepticon, and other unofficial ones- you can use non-official GW models, but you need to check with the organizers first (there expanding the tournies to include warmachine etc...so you should just check first).

Hope this helps,

Hmm interesting because I was tempted to try a different army using some of the PP Horde models, when my order arrives I'll post some pictures of what I got. The model details looked amazng to say the least.

Yup, the Horde models are pretty awesome! I actually bought the Hordes Circle of Orboros shifting stones because they'd make great objective markers Very Happy

Wow a very impressive order!
I myself am awaiting the arrival of a 2nd Dreadnought, a squad of GKT's, GK's and some extra special weapon stuff for them.
My brother 'might' be getting me the FW GK Dread.

I also am starting Easterlings (War of the Ring) so with my bday money ordered that.

I've heard they added new more common rules, rather than all the storyline based stuff LotR stuff, and thats its quite good, kind of like a mix of 40k and Fantasy.

Nice! The FW dreads are really cool.

The Easterling models are very nice. Even though I'm an avid Tolkien fan, I never got into LoTR. Maybe someday...

Oooooh, nice! Can't wait bounce

Incidentally, why would they come out with a ven Ravenguard dread? Wouldn't it have been more logical to come out w/ a Salamanders or White Scars ven dread since they were featured more prominently in the SM codex? scratch

IA8! It will be IG vs. Orks. But we know, every IA includes always one or more SM chapters. I think the RG will be the SM for IA8. In the Apocalypse book (the first of GW) there is, at the first page where the ork datasheets begin, a diagram about an Ork-Waaagh that moves straight toward the RG homeworld Deliverance. The Red Scorpions had been used with IA4, 6 and 7. The people want something new and the RG had always been one of the less sponsored chapters. So it´s time to bring something new. New stuff sells better, specially if it is new SM stuff.
Not to forget the background of Shadow Captain Shrike. The RG will fit perfec with the storyline of IA8.

Just to add besides a late post. In connection to feeling like Christmas. That new Codex would look great wrapped with a ribbon under the Christmas tree. The scent of fresh binding glue and crisp print ink, the gloss on the pages that reflects the christmas lights... It's months in advance but in my mind I'm already there.
