Bug Hunter 2000
With the new Codex: Tyranids out things are looking even grimmer for the Imperium. And against an elite army like Grey Knights Tyranids could always be a bit of a problem. But now that they have new rules, new models (are the modellers paid in accordance to how grotesque they can make models??) the poor GK have their work doubly cut out for them....
So how to to counter this....
Well there are two ways in my opnions. 2+ armour saves all the way, or Masses of Incinerator and storm bolters and psycannons....

The 2 Inquisitors man the Quad Guns, with their Warbands attached. Against Zoanthropes and Hive Tyrants etc they are firing at BS10 (YAY! NO SCATTER!) with hopefully something cool from the jokaero.
5 man Strike Squad is held in reserve to grab objectives near end of game. the other squads can all come in via deep strike to pour fire into the enemy. 4+ Incinerators. gotta love them.

I've never had problems against Tyranids in the past, if anything template weapons are their bane on the battle field.

Re: Bug Hunter 2000
As someone who recently bought a bug army (hogwash codex be damned!) it is an interesting thread for me...
Incinerators are the way to go, but some heavier options for the big bugs is essential. The quad gun is a cheap FMC counter for sure, kind of a pain for the T5 flyers, unless they bring 2x flyrants and 2+ crones...
I am making a 1500 pt list that has a flyrant, a crone, a Tervigon, a mawloc and a Carnifex, as well as 3 Zoanthropes (unit of 2 and unit of 1)
It also has 40 haunts and 30 tgants, and 10 gargs...
Not saying it is super competitive, but it has 5 MCs to deal with. Only 4 synapse nodes makes it a bit fragile, however... Shame, synapse is such a crutch now... I should find a way to add a 5th node somehow, but at this point list it's tough... 50pts (1x Zoanthrope) is the cheapest synapse, 90pts (3x naked warriors) is the next, then 125 (HQ prime), then 165 naked tyrant, then 195 naked Tervigon (not including 120pt gant tax), then 230pt trygon prime...
I could do 3x single zoanthropes since I have no other elite options depends on the opponent, cover, mission type, etc...
As you can see, the biggest thing in 6th Ed tyranid tactics is synapse... So anything that can ignore cover or can precision shoot is ultra helpful...

Re: Bug Hunter 2000
I agree Synapse has always been the bane of most armies facing Tyranids. That and Shadow in The Warp for psychic armies..
psycannons are good. but the thing with the incinerator is coverage of the squads targeted. against a group of tervigaunts etc (numbering up to 20 or more) the incinerators can cover a good number of the group, whereas a big group like that may well absorb all the storm bolter and psycannon fire with little damage...

Re: Bug Hunter 2000
You are correct, but I think you will see less triple tervigon (and therefore massive termigant) spam going forward.
Most lists I've seen have anywhere from 3-5 (maybe 6) sources of synapse in pts ranges from 1250 to 2000. At least 1, or likely 2 of those sources are Flyrants which will not be babysitting the little gribblies. The sooner you kill the synapse, the sooner those gribblies either start falling back, or eating themselves.
Incinerators are definitely geared for swarm armies, but I think most lists would punish you if don't bring any higher strength (and longer distance) shooting. Not saying auto-lose for GK, but more complicated for sure.
That being said, you will likely see a LOT more devilgants in this edition, in large blobs protected by fleshborer fodder. If you ignore those they can do a fair bit of damage.
Bottom line, it seems the consensus is that for 'nid players to thrive (or simply survive) in 6th, they will have to master the delicate art of target saturation and forcing poor tactical decisions.

Perhaps it is not a case of "either/or" in reagards to Psycannons and Flamers, but more about balancing them in our lists.

But that goes against everything the internet says about spamming identical unit six times. There's no formula for balancing things.
YOU'RE ASKING US TO THINK FOR OURSELVES! OURSELVES!
(I always figured a balanced load out would work best with Grey Knights.
We don't have the numbers to have multiple dedicated anti-armour or anti-horde units. They are better off being aimed at one, but capable of doing the other to some degree.)
