I was just curious if models such as Crow or Draigo that allow you to take certain elites as troop choices means the units in question are scoring units.

See i more meant since troop choices count as scoring units if i take purifires as troops do i have to use grand strategy to make them count as scoring units? or do they count since they become troops due to Crowe's ability to make them troops

If you're using Draigo, your Paladins count as Troops so no need to use GS for them.

Same for Crowe and Purifiers.

In a clearer wording, yes, when you make purifiers or paladins or henchmen troops using a special character, they count as scoring, without having to use grand strategy.

Hahahaha thank you all =) most helpful information indeed! Also with Grand Strategy can you make a dread a scoring unit even though it is a vehicle?

Check the fine print under grand strategy, it tells you what you can't use it upon.
Don't have my codex on me right now or I'd find the rule.

Yes. This was hotly debated before the FAQ, as we all knew what they meant, but technically the way the rules were written they couldn't claim objectives anyway. Thankfully they have FAQ'd it to be in line with what they meant.
Q: If a walker is the target of Unyielding Anvil, from
the Grand Strategy special rule, can it claim objectives
even though it is a vehicle? (p22)
A: Yes

When facing a tough question it's always good to check the main and the GK faq.

If A HQ unit (Draigo, Dante, Belial, Coteaz, Crowe, etc) makes X unit troops then that unit becomes a Scoring unit. so with Draigo, Paladins don't need GS to become scoring units.
