do venerable dreads do better then normal dreads with the point difference

Vens are 1 better in both weapon and ballistic skill. And of course the damage results re-rolls. The list looks good. Personally I'd prefer daemon hammers in each squad though like rogueuk said, you do have a lot of anti-tank.

Paying 175 for a multi-melta dreadnought.......not so much.

I would bolster my troops. I do recon you plan on using your GM to provide more troop choices. But by taking only two weak troops you are almost forced to use your Grand Strategy to spawn more troops - you do not have the option of taking Scout or Counter attack if that would be more appropriate. with only 8 man per squad you don't even have the option op Combat Squatting

Well here are the reasons for my choices:
1) No hammers as... I have none. I'm using my old models you see.
2) The ven dread is there to try it out. I have one and painted him as a Grey Knight one... so best i at least give it a go.
3) The GM is mainly there out of fluffynes. I have 2 GM's and the new Special Character with the shield. One GM has a psycannon and the other is my 'main GM' which i use most frequently for story-reasons.

I suppose I could drop the ven dread though and keep him for bigger lists.
Say I add a third squad would that be enough troops?

Any suggestion on what to do with the excess 5pts if I drop the Ven and replace him with a GK squad?

Well you can get regular dreads with two TLACs with PsyAmmo, and the extra BS makes no difference since everything is twin linked anyway. You loose a bit of penetrating power, but its more effecient.

Problem is I have only the contents of 2 Dread kits and 1 ven dread kit. Hence i don't have double AC's i believe.
