1500 Purifier List

Hello Brothers,
I am still working on a list that I both enjoy, and will be competitive. Please go crazy and dissect my list.
HQ-
Crowe

Elite-
Squad of 6 Paladins -
Hammer, SB
MC Halberd, Psycannon

Sword, SB

Troops-
Squad of 10 Purifiers (psybolt ammo) x2, Razorback for each
Psycannon x4
Hammer x2
Halberd x4

Heavy support
Dreadnought: TLAC x2, Psybolt Ammo x2
Total: 1491

My plan is to combat squad my purifiers (4 psycannons and KoF with Halberd, 5 purifiers with both hammers and 3 halberds.) The CC squad will ride in the Razorback, while the psycannon squad follows behind.

Paladins will probably DS or march where they need to go.

Dreads will be anti Armor, long range support ofc.

how many purifier squads are you using?

I am running two purifiers squads comprised of 10 men each.

what is the purpose of Crowe, exept making your purifiers troops?
Maybe it's just me but i feel like it really sucks as a HQ...it's a model that have to die to be of any help, and since we already are very short in numbers, i'd choose the max survivability instead of a kamikaze action.

Exept for that Crowe part, i feel your army is pretty good.
I'm quite surprised you managed to fill in the paladins, they cost a hell of points and i was unable to fill them in my army...i'll defenetly copy your setup and customize it

[EDIT] also, are you using 2 deads or only one?
because you need to take psybolt ammo only once per model, so if you're using only 1 deadnought you just need 1 psybolt ammunition and not 2

Yeah I'm running 2 Dreads, and both have psybolt ammo only once. Sorry that was a little confusing. Also, Crowe is there because of his ability to make purifiers troop choices. I know he's pretty lame otherwise but my plan is to have him move up slowly toward enemy units (staying in cover the entire time) Once the dreads wipe out the "big guns" Crowe will then move in and begin tying up units in CC. He isn't great, but he isn't bad either. You just have to use him correctly, as all members of our codex.

You can just sit Crowe with your Dreads, your opponent can shoot him hiding there - the easy target, or your dreads putting out the firepower. If someone tries to tarpit your dreads he can step in.

He is kinda crap but thats the idea

The Purifier list is probably more balanced, the vehicles add mobile cover and firepower, and you have more bodies.
Paladins are a little harder to kill in some ways, but are very hard to use, particularly if your opponent has mobile anti tank, or lots of las/plas razors.
You also lack the Lib for his powers which synergise well with the low body count.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Something I've been tussling with...let me know what ya think. Rather than this list above I could roll with this. What list do you think is more viable?

The differences that I see between the first and second list are the addition of the apothecary and replacing the razor backs with rhinos. The first list is better because it has the extra long range firepower from the razorbacks and the extra paladin.

Please let me know how this list works for you. I'm trying a similar one tonight at my local game store.

i don't think the apothecary is worth his points in small list like your 1500 one.

I've been posting this lists status in another post based on tactica but so far it has gone 2-0-0 both games against two different CSM lists. No idea what I will play against next, a friend wants me to up it to 1750 or even 2000 points and play against his undefeated Chaos Daemons...not sure if I'm ready for that yet but we'll see what happens.

My idea to up the list to 2000 is adding 4 more pallys and a libby. Anyone have a better suggestion? maybe more purifiers instead??

Bumping up to 10 pallies I think is good. You'll have 16 S7 rending shots on the move
Instead of a libby, I would go with a basic GM with rad, blind and psychostroke grenades (210pts). He can make the pallies and dreads scoring and he makes the paladins nigh unstoppable on the first turn of assault. Just my two cents...

That sounds good actually, but do you think the halberd would be worth it more than the blind grenades? I know I'm still really new, but I don't foresee many units wanting to assault my paladins. Halberd for the GM? I almost never take it since I5 is good most of the time. If I don't have a warding staff, I usually stay w/ a sword for the 3++ save in CC.

IMO, blind grenades are worth more than the halberd for a GM. Just my two cents

I don't follow, as he doesn't affect the paladins cc ability like a BC would (titan's herald).

I was referring to his rad, blind and psychostroke grenades On the first turn, whether they assault or get assaulted, enemy units are -1T. Usually, combined with double hammer hand, this is enough to instant kill T4 models. Then there is the psychostroke grenades too.

Also, if they are assaulted, enemy units will lose bonus attacks for assault due to the blind grenades.

Ah damn forgot the grenades! very useful upgrades hehe and if another enemy charges the combat you get to use them again

I'll be playing a 2000 point game on Wednesday with a GM added as well as another 4 paladins. I'll let you guys know how it unfolds. Also, I'll soon be posting pics of my army as I'm almost completely done painting all of them. So keep an eye out for that as well.

Aubec's right, as usual. I think you would be better off adding another paladin. By the way, where's that battle report?
