How big will your GK army be?

One thing I love about the new codex is we now have a more defined force organization. I love knowing that there are 8 Brotherhoods and we even know roughly how a Brotherhood is organized. So, I sat down and decided on a project that supercedes all my other 40K projects...finishing a whole Brotherhood complete with their dedicated war machines. Long (and expensive) project for sure but I'll chip away at it over time Will I ever use them all at the same time? Probably not, or maybe in an apocalypse game? This is more for the hobby enthusiast in me BTW, all these will be using the new plastic kits (or FW models). After counting all the models, it totals up to:

100 Battle brothers, 3 Officers, 3 dreadnoughts, 2 NDK, 4 skimmers, 9 tanks, 2 heavy flyers + 23 special unit models = 146 models

Grey Knights 7th Brotherhood + special units (those in bold and italics are models I already have or finished)

What an awesome project!
You actually have A LOT of the 7th Brotherhood already, not really to unrealistic of a goal really.

Why have you chosen the 7th? Is there fluff in the codex about the different Brotherhoods that makes the 7th stand out for you, or do you just like the number 7?

This is an awesome project, and something that I want to do myself. To be honest, doing something like this isn't unfeasible due to the plastics nowadays. Does that mean that you won't be having any Purifiers in your force at all then?

@Valten: I'm sure I'll be using Purifiers sometimes, but not in any big numbers. That's why I think having 15 Purifier models around should suffice. Personally, I lean more towards Paladins Also, I'm sticking to the fluff that there are usually only around 40 Purifiers at any given time so they're pretty rare IMO.

That army would be pretty cool Rivan and would be neat to see all laid out in one pic. Especially with your talent for painting. Hopefully one day we'll see it soon. Unfortunately, my army will only be growing by one NDK as I no longer have a desire to line G-dubs greedy coffers anymore. I'll definitely be looking out to see how your Brotherhood progresses though.

This is a great project, and not only does it seem feasible, but the army make up is so versatile that you can play a decent apocolypse game with it. Send me some pics latr on plz

You're right, I forgot to bold/italics the libby.

However, you forgot that I still need 20 x GKT Also, I'm adding a techmarine. I think each Brotherhood should have a techmarine to administer to their vehicles right?

So that's a total of 80 more models

The addition of the techmarine does make sense, AND it will be a cool conversion oportunity

80 models........................ That is a lot, but still not unmanagable.
I guess you are a little under half way right now.
The thing is that you have already bought all of the expensive stuff, which must make things seem a little less overwhelming right?

Only the 8 crusaders for the retinues and 3 of the Culexus Assassines are missing. The second Stormraven and the second LR are unassembled. Oh and i´m waiting for the Contemptor Dreadnought to replace the converted BA librarian dreadnought. The Contemptor looks soooooo GK style.

20 GK Purgation (5 of them only, as they are my old metal models, need to get them later)

30 GK Terminators (10 of which are ready, since they are my old DH models. the other 20 models are already assembled)

Ok, to make one thing clear. The units i have posted yesterday are only the new GK models. I can muster the same amount in old metal GK. Not exactly sure but at all it must be something between 17000 - 20000 points of GK godness.

20000 is just obscene... You should post some pictures of that host, Brother!
