Hey All,
I am new to this forum and just wanted to say hello. I have been playing GKs since they came out whenever that was and have jumped between them and my Mordian IG army. Along with my introduction I wanted to pose a question, because brothers I worry that with this new codex we will make GKs become as powerful and even more so then ordinary SM and with that GKs will become just another over-powered SM faction. I for one enjoy the struggles I have had with the old codexes because it made me a better player and added character to my army. Maybe I am just to "old" and want to hold on to the glory days of when I would show up to a hobby store with my GKs army looking for a game, and everyone wanted to play me because they thought GKs were awful and it would be an easy game, however I showed them what the Emperor's finest could do. Anyway I was just curious about other peoples feelings surrounding the new codex.
Cheers

Welcome to Titan, Brother Ironlizard. I share the same feelings in regards to how the Grey Knights will become, not wanting them to become another SM Chapter. Plenty of changes were made to the Grey Knights (lack of WS5, +2S, and True Grit) but we get plenty of other stuff to. The biggest issue that we'll face as an army now is to figure out what works for us and what doesn't. It may seem flashy and shiny, but at the end of the day, Grey Knights still have the same old stats.
There are other things that I don't agree with for the codex, such as having Daemonhosts involved and to have Radicals actually fight side by side with Grey Knights. It makes no flippen sense to me, especially when I loved running Daemonhosts with my Radical DH army. In this book, the Daemonhosts really did take a blow to their stats and abiliites. I guess that I'll get back to work on Radicalism then.

Welcome!
The first thing I loved about GK's is they didnt use vehicles, and I'll be continueing that trend despite codex changes.
THey will be popular for a while, but are probably too elite for most players, as the model count is lower even than SM.

Welcome Ironlizard. I agree that playing the old dex made us better players but there comes a time when age catches up, codex creep sets in and no matter how skilled a player it becomes extremely difficult to maintain a competetive edge. No matter the changes, we badly needed this new dex. Unlike Zeal, I'm planning on going fully mech and what doesn't have a transport will be able to DS. The beauty of the new dex is not only can I do this, but Zeal and other like-minded GK players can play in the traditional way and we can all field strong, viable lists. It's a win situation for all of us.

Welcome and worry not. This new codex gives us pelenty of material to build the army we feel confortable with. As NemesisForce said, it´s a win-win situation for us!
