Draigo vs Abaddon

My bud wants to try a Draigo(Pallies) vs Aboddon(Chosen)
We're looking at just 1000 but haven't had to deal with Aboddon yet
What joys do I get to look forward too and any other thoughts
Ill make a list and post it wheat I get a min

Try the gladiatorial rules of Crusade of Fire, and pit them both to a match to death!

I am pretty sure that Abadon's sword has a few tricks up its....hilt.

In 6th ed, Abaddon will (unfortunately) whip Draigo senseless

I see it like this:

Abaddon on the charge has a potential maximum of 11 str 8 power attacks striking at I6 and can re-roll failed To Wound's.

I think you're right...at AP2 to boot.

Draigo will have to make a lot of 3++ saves. Meanwhile Abaddon can shrug off Draigo's attacks w/ 2+ armor saves.

Sounds like Draigo s gonna have fun so far I'm thinking

Why not stave off the charge from Abaddon on a Palladin and let Draigo maul his squad for a round, or are they no longer characters? Would you have to put it on the Apothecary?

Also psybolt ammo might be usefull but I know points are at a premium

abaddon wins with ease sadly.

draigo has problems against the terminator armor.

abaddon rocks in with 4 attacks base +2 for charging (mark of khorne, it also grants counterattack) and 1-6 if he hits with drach'nyen. wich he will he strikes with S5 ap 2. as abaddon always got the black crusader warlord trait he and all allies in 12" also got preferred enemy space marines (wich GK count towards too). draigo does not stand a chance at the slightest.

only chance for him to win is if abaddon rolls a 1 for his "attack roll" with drach'nyen. that way he suffers a wound with no saves allowed and is WS 1 for the turn.

No matter what the odds, a Grey Knight Grand Master must meet the evil forces of chaos head on in battle until one side is destroyed or banished. Emperor be with you brother.

If you are just looking to smash face with Draigo against Abaddon then Abaddon will win, there is no question about it. If you are playing a game then things get different, Draigo is not just a hamer (he is a hammer) but he does much more for the army, so use him right and you should come out on top.

Pallies can beat abbaddon if you never allow draigo in base to base with abbaddon.

Use a pallie squad with hammers and one stave to kill of abbaddon and the rest plus draigo to shoot and melee the chosen to death.
Sadly you cannot run a 1000p draigo pallie list, the points are just not enough for this. It´s like saying you have 650p to build a deathwing army with, you just cant do anything even remotely good with it.

If it was a Ab+ choosen vs Dg + pallies match I would go with:


Draigo
10 pallies
Ward stave
1 sword
3 hammers
5 halbeards
4 MC psycannons
(justicar has a MC halbeard plus one hammer is MCed)

(955p with draigo)

10 strike sqaud, 2 psycannons, psybolt ammo.

-1200p


You split the pallies in two 5 man units, one with all the psycannons and one with all the hammers and stave.
Keep the justicar in the psycannon half.

Keep the strikers as support units (only shooting) to help down rhinos etc or use them as another shooty-melee anti chosen unit by having draigo in it).

The hammer pallie half is going to take down abbaddon (unless you can just shoot him to death...I have). The psycannon/halbeard half are to hunt for choosen.
The strikers you decide, draigo can be in that squad to soak up shots and to give them an edge in melee.

Abaddon got marks ... if i'm right, he's considered as a Deamon so the sword of Draigo gets the S10 ... it's not that bad !
Is Abaddon eternal warrior too ... i can't remember...
If not Draigo could do a "1 strike 1 down"...

Yes Abaddon is EW. Draigo will need 2's to wound but Abaddon gets his 2+ saves.

Well I didn't know about the 2s to wound but Draigo and his Pallies still won yesterday

Sorry guys been busy with work got promoted again so been training here's the batrep!!
Mission was kill everything couldn't win with out every opposing model cleansed of the board
Deployment was Dawn of War
I had the Pallies split into combat squads one group had the 4psycannons and one hammer I deployed them in a wooded area
Draigo and the rest including apoth and a warding stave model were in reserve

Abaddon and the chosen all deployed on the opposite side of my Pallies in ruins

First three turns we shuffled around tring to get shots off at each other with my psycannons and his plasma but he stayed out of range

Turn four Draigo and his Pallies walk on board in tab shuffling I got his chosen to middle of board so I was able to throw some storm bolter fury into one group and dropped 2

His turn four his chosen passed the moral test and another group shot back at Driago with plasma I placed Draigo in front so his SS can block most of the plasma one wound net threw his SS but apoth doped him up and no wounds lost.

Turn five I moved closer to ruins with driagos unit and shuffled Psycannon squad closer but they were still outta range.
Driagos squad finished off the 3 chosen left in the first group with storm Bolters

His turn 5 all plasma s were in range of Draigo he saved all but 5 go dropped up but still took 2 wounds no other casualties

Turn six moved into the ruin with driagos squad got out of the woods with my psycannons and was still outta range for psycannons
Dragos squad took 1 chosen down with storm Bolters and killed the rest in the assault a Halberd paladin took a plasma in an over watch but got doped up like Draigo

At this point all his chosen were in the ruin with my Pallies and Draigo and Abaddon my psycannons were about 28" away and had no line of sight any way

He shot his plasma Draigo was still in front and stoped all with his SS
Then a group of chosen and Abaddon assaulted my Pallies over watched the chosen killed one the killed the rest on CC
I issued a challenge with Driago he accepted Draigo made all his saves as well as Abaddon

Next turn I was able to put a wound on Abaddon and he hit himself with his own sword by rolling a 1 but he saved that wound
Dragios SS made all the saves and I was able to re-roll one fail cuz of "get em boss"Special rule cuz I had 5 Pallies and Draigo while he only had Abaddon

His last group of chosen joined the combat on his turn but all fell to my Pallies I had one wound on another paladin from one of his chosen
Draigo and Abaddon kept slugging away Draigo's SS stoped all of Abaddons blows while Draigo was able to put another wound on Abaddon

Final Turn
Abaddon was cornered in the ruin with my Pallies and Draigo and finally Draigo cut down Abaddon in cc

So I think Driagos SS was gear of the game by far he made all saves that Abaddon forced on him aswell as plasma s from all the chosen
my psycannons were still chilling in the wood prob high on warp dust and did nothin all day but force his units deeper into the ruin and onto
my side of the board which helped Draigo reach cc sooner they did help tactically but shot no chosen =(

We rolled my dice after to show him they weren't loaded my bud wasn't made but shocked by the game and
Draigo s super Mastercrafted SS I guess they should add that to his profile lol
