Re: Broadside Bash 2012
first of all. congratulations on that painting competition. awesome that you scored that high
ah now i know the tantalus.. can also fly and kill your stuff.. but nice that you shot it down so quickly.
this imp list looks like a typical hardcore tournie list. no wonder it hurt that hard... but thats to be expected on a tournament right?
i really liked your list and you didnt played bad overall. cant wait for those batreps

Re: Broadside Bash 2012
Thanks Brothers. I like the list as well and will continue to use it and get better with it--and finish painting it completely NMM
However, a lot of my opponents gave me very low scores on army composition and theme. It is really sad that just because my opponents had a tough time vs my list, they default to the "its a power list or its a cheesy WAAC list." The BT player in particular scored my list with the lowest mark possible. I guess he didn't really like the fact that I wiped his entire army off the board except for 2 rhinos while I still had every single unit. Before we began our match, I offered him my list and he said he didn't need to see it. So when his EC + Termies and his Marshall + 10 man command squad multi-assaulted my GM/Coteaz + war band, I don't think he really knew what he was biting into. Needless to say, the combined effects of Sanctuary/grenades/hammerhand/DCAs meant he died horribly
Oh, and the player with the 3 manticore IG list? He scored my army very low too. Really?!?!? I don't even know how to explain this one...
It would be nice if players can be mature enough to objectively assess an army list irregardless of the results of their game. There's very few of those around
Or in your opinion Brothers, is this list cheesy?

Re: Broadside Bash 2012
thats the biggest issue on tournaments. those ratings really show off how immature many players are and what sore losers this game brings.
and no this list of yours is not cheesy. its in fact very original and does a good job on showing how a codex GK can be played.

This is a nasty suprise for anyone unfamiliar with the GK small print.
I know I start to feel violated when my best laid plans are undermined by a barrage of psychic powers and special rules I was unaware of.
For me though, people that call lists cheesy are mostly sore losers, or they dont realise that not all of us jumped on the GK bandwagon - some of us have always had a soft spot for psychic terminators.
Your a great painter im sure when its all finished the lowballing will change.
PS, did you use your contemptor dread in the tournament or your regular one? Would anyone in a tournament setting have a problem with me using forgeworld models as standard codex options if all the weapons on them are correct?

Re: Broadside Bash 2012
Thanks again Brothers. I tried to avoid doubling up on units like multiple SRs or multiple dreads--not that these are even bad in the first place. But my list definitely didn't fall into the category of "spammed lists."
@Tiger10: The list I used is this:
GM w/ incinerator, rad, blind and psychostroke, 2 skulls
Coteaz
Venerable psyfleman dread
10 Paladins (4 psycannons, banner, assorted weapons)
10 GKSS (2 psycannons); RB w/ TWLLC
12 Warband (8 DCAs, 3 crusaders, 1 mystic); RB w/ TWLLC
LRC w/ MM
@DOMIN4TRIX: For this tourney, contemptors WERE allowed if your army can actually take them. However, you can also use the contemptor model to "count as" your normal dread. You'll just have to accept the disadvantage of the larger size.
Anyway, this is just a pic of my 1st place GM. No prize given aside from the ribbon but the recognition does feel good because it comes from CoolMiniornot

congratulations brother, even though its just a little piece of cloth it has some value. i love cool mini or not and for you to get such a priece from there shows that you really got talent in modelling and painting.
i still feel very annoyed that such jerks like that IG player who spammed vendettas, vets and manticores gave you such a low score. your list wasnt spammy nor was it cheesy. they are just poor, poor players that a tournament doesnt need.

I guess they now think that you are cheese only because you field GK, no matter what's in your list. And that's why I always hated this sort of evaluation.
Anyway, too bad for the two losses, but hopefully you had fun. And your great prize for you GM. A nice ribbon for a mighty knight

Re: Broadside Bash 2012
Final standings were posted by Broadside Bash and I thought they were interesting...
Battlepoints - I scored 59 out of 100 which I expected from winning 3 and losing 2 (plus my 3 wins weren't Massacres so I didn't get max points on those)
Sportsmanship - I scored almost max at 24. Max would have been 26.
Army Comp - My list was scored second to the last place. The last place went to the IG player w/ 3 manticores, 3 vendettas and melta/plasma vet spam. My buddy who also played GK was ranked 3rd to the last. This is just freakin' disappointing There was another GK player who had a beautiful army (Draigo, 10 pallies, Coteaz, DCA warband, SR, 3 psyflemen dreads) but I noticed that he dropped out. I saw him play the first couple of rounds but don't know why he dropped (frustated w/ how GK's were being comped maybe?)
Appearance - No surprise here, I scored 6 out of 36 because my army was unfinished.
The comp and appearance scores really hurt me and my final overall ranking was 38. The appearance I can deal with since I expect to get much higher scores next tourney (and hopefully even get best Appearance). But the comp thing with GKs really suck

Re: Broadside Bash 2012
i don't understand why ?
is it because the organizers get a bias for the GK that they find too powerful ?
cause your list is a mixed one, without purifiers spammed in rhinos or Draigowing or something like that ...
i'm a little desappointed !

Army comp scores is purely subjective given by my opponents. Sadly, just because they get their face bashed in or they have a really tough time agains my list, they score it low on comp.

Thanks,
