Salamanders vs Chaos Space Marines

Vulkan He´Stan observed the incoming informations on his helmet display. Together with Veteran Sergeant Marik´s Sternguard squad he was straped inside the droppod. His force was in position and had already sighted a warband of the Black Legion and a small detachment of the Iron Brotherhood.
Then came the signal and the droppod made his way throught the atmosphere straight into the enemy´s heart. The battle has begun.....

I played a quick game today (befor the match Germany vs Argentina. 4 to 0 for Germany Jiiiihaaaaa)

We played 2000 points annihilation.

I kept He´Stan, the Sternguard and the Assault Terminators in reserve
My opponent his DP, the greater daemon, the Chaos Lord and his Terminators.

Chaos Deployment:



On his right flank he deployed CSM squad 4 and the LR. In the mid he deployed his infiltrating Choosen squad, CSM squad 1 and 2. And on his left flank he positioned his bikes, CSM squad 3, his Obliterators and in the tower his Havoks.

Salamanders 1st Turn:



My droppod entered the table near the Obliterators but scattered out of range for their Combi-Meltas. With nothing in range they did nothing (that has been the first time. Shit happens).
Bia and Kratos fired their Lascannons on the Chaos Land Raider but managed only to destroy one sponson.
The dread opened fire at the Havoks and killed two of them.

Chaos 1st Turn



The chaos LR fired on Kratos and destroyed the TLLC.
CSM Squad 2 fired on He´Stan and the Sternguard. But the Plasmagun exploded and killed the gunner. Together with CSM squad 1 they killed 3 of the Sternguards with their bolters. The Obliterators destroyed the droppod. The resulting explosion killed another CSm from CSM squad 2, but none of my veterans.
His Bikes opened fire on my bikes and killed two of them (one has been a melta gunner)

Salamanders 2nd Turn:




All went well for me. I rolled for my Terminator reserve and the appeared as planned. With the lose of the droppod i was forced to throw for scatter, but they landed exactly where they should.
My bikes and Squad Far´Rok moved into position to deal with the Chaos bikes. Squad An´Kasa moved closer to the Chaos LR.
The combined firepower of my bikes and Far´Rok´s squad killed 4 of the bikes. My second Tac Squad´s Melta gunner to aim at the Chaos LR and blew him up.
The dread kept up the steads stream of fire at the Havoks and killed again two of them.
He´Stan and the surviving Sternguards opened fire with their three heavy flamers on CSM squad 2 and killed 3 of them (i love twin linked heavy flamers). the other two died in CC, when He´Stan cut them in halves with the Spear of Vulkan. Meanwhile my Bikes went into CC with the last two bikes and killed another one.

Chaos 2nd Turn:



Only the greater daemon and the Chaos Lord appeared from the reserve (i still did not understand why he had not attached the Lord ot the Terminators). The Lord deep striked behind Bia but he missed with his Combi-Melta. The chapaion of CSM squad 1 changed place with the greater daemon (cool, just the right enemy for He´Stan and the Sternguards). The others of CSM squad 1 opened fire at He´Stan and killed one Veteran.
CSM squad 3 killed one Assault Terminator with their bolters. And the last two Havoks ripped one TL Autocannon from my dread.

After that my opponent gave, to my surprise and disappointment, up. A lot of bad dice luck and the fact that i would give 3-7 (Lord, bike, havoks, CSM squad 4, Oblits, CSM squad 1 and the greater daemon) of his units the deathblow in my third turn brought him to this insight.

Victory for my Salamanders

Where the guy with the orange shirt on the first picture is standing, there are some awesome models.
That aside, it really sucks when your games end so soon...

Smashing victory for Chaos to see its own doom Your salamanders army is one of the best looking I've ever seen, you did an awesome job on the highlights Brother! I will be showing my friend so he can get a good idea of what a well painted Salamanders chapter should look like .

Have to chime in as well and say how smashing your army looks. Nice job on the win as well. I've only ever conceded once and that was with a friend who agreed that it was pointless to go on. I would never quit a game though without my opponents consent.

It was not the first time i played against this guy. He´s a bit older, around your age, Nemesis. And every time i makes the same mistakes. And every time i tell him what he should change.
He never uses transports, a mistake that cost him dearly in our last match against my SW. He was not able to reach a single mission object. His troop choises are too small. He should build larger squads that could absorb more fire.
