1750 tournament list Empty 1750 tournament list

Post by Grimhack Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:57 am

Well, there's a tournament coming up and I was wondering what to take. Therefore I made this list and would like to know what you guys think of it.
I'm open for your comments, ideas, criticisms, improvements, praises, ...

HQ
Grandmaster
Hammerhand, Psychic hood, mastercrafted NFW
4 Terminators retinue
Incinerator, TH/SS

Troops
Justicar
6 knights
Incinerator

Justicar
6 knights
Incinerator

Justicar
targeter
5 knights

Heavy support

Land raider
Extra armour

Land raider
Extra armour

Land raider crusader
Extra armour

That should make exactly 1750 points.
The idea is that the grandmaster with retinue go in the crusader and the first two squads of knights will go in the land raiders with the last squad defending home objective or giving support in general.

No because orbital strike is heavy support and not reliable for a tournament. Also, who would you give a powerfist? only the gm could take it but it would be a waste of points.

Perhaps you should consider removing the last squad and get a bunch of ISTs instead? Just to bulk out the numbers. 176 points could give you A) a squad of 10 ISTs with 2 Special Weapons and a Rhino with Extra Armour, or B) Two squads of 7 with one Special Weapon plus another Flamer each, with 5 points over.

Just a thought. If you want to go pure GK, ignore these suggestions. Razz

I have stormtroopers but I don't know, they would have to do the job of the squad they replaced and I can't really depend on T3 models with a worse save, no shrouding and low leadership with no fearless rule...
I understand your point about more bodies but I'm not sure if I would prefer quantity over quality.

True, true, but since they're supposed to stick back and hold your objective, having them hide in a Rhino will give them about the same survivability as your small PAGK squad. Especially with the 3 raiders to worry about. Razz

And if they're carrying two P-guns or flamers, they can actually hurt something coming at them. ^^

I think the list is solid. I like it.

Brother Tiberius' suggestion is viable but it all comes down to preference. I myself would rely more on the PAGK squad. But again, that's a personal preference. Good luck w/ the tourney! Very Happy

I'd be tempted to get a BC instead of a GM and spend the points on more PAGK bodies possibly (hard choice really) just because it gives the PAGK who will be in the LR's more punch.
LR's get bettter the more you have so 3 at 2k points is definately a good investment with the amount of high strength shots you can be taking.

I was thinking about the brother captain but a grandmaster is just worth so much more, I think my grandmaster usually saves the day in a heroic manner, scaring the opponents and making them turn everything on him, giving my other troops the chance to do their thing.
