Ok, after a little bit of reading, I notice no-one seems to have read any of the Ravernor or Eisenhorn series.

Who is willing to prove me wrong? These are great books, written by Dan Abnett, all about an Inquisitor. Awesoe reading if you want a proper look at how an inquisitor thinks and acts.

True. No one seems to mention those books, but I'm sure most people here would have... I think it's just classified. tongue

I have read both series and have to admit that Eisenhorn blew me away. Actually got into an ongoing argument about the man and his merit.

Ravenor was also good but didnt leave as much of an impact as Eisenhorn.

Both series are awesome! Although I agree w/ Ferrochrome, Eisenhorn is simply outstanding. If you guys enjoyed the way Dan Abnett gave life to his characters, you guys are gonna love the Gaunt novels too!

Another one of my favs.
Every time I find some one who would like to get into the 40k world I get them to read the Gaunts novels. And they all end up loving it. Personally I love all of Dan Abnett's work. He has a way of creating in depth characters.

I recently finished Double eagle and I found that amazing... It's about the imperial Navy - Thunderbolt fighters, Marauder bombers, etc... Based in the same wars a Gaunts' novels (Sabbat worlds). So good that now I'm saving to buy a couple of Thunderbolts from Forge World. And I just cant wait to put them together and use them! Very Happy

LOL Looks like we're kindred spirits there ferrochrome. I ordered a thunderbolt fighter right after reading that book. I'm saving up for another one coz it'll be really cool for them to work in pairs in an Apocalypse game.

I want thunderbolts and lightnings, and I think GW should bring them out for the IG to use.

Hahaha, That's exactly it... Why would you just have one Thunderbolt? Two is the minimum!

Hooray for bombing runs! And those two sweet AA mounted twin linked autocannons... cheers

Yup. And they would make a cool (and effective) escort for a GK thunderhawk gunship too!

Dont tell me you have one of those?

I've seen someone scratch build one and it actually looked amazing. But the time spent on it... frag that!

Uh, I actually do have a GK Thunderhawk gunship. I got it for Christmas last year. Still unbuilt coz I'm saving that for last (and until I get better at airbrushing...) It'll make for a really nice GK army for apocalypse.

Hmmm... temptation to throw the budget out the window...

In this case you definitely want those Thunderbolts with their AA mounted AC to cover the Thunderhawk. Smile

LOL Speaking of budgets, the only reason I'm able to pull this off with the Mrs is because I don't play golf or any other expensive sport. My discretionary funds all go towards my hobby Smile

Well, I've started reading the Ravenor Omnibus a few weeks ago and I must say that its pretty good. I really enjoy some of the commentary between the characters. Especially the ones involving Frauka, Inquisitor Ravenors personal Untouchable. He's pretty amusing, especially when most of the time, he's simply reading smut. That and Ravenor's own internal monolouge is pretty amusing as well.

I'm not the biggest Abnett fan, but I really enjoyed Eisenhorn. Something about his writing kept making me take long breaks between the books. I plan on taking the Omnibus and reading it again, just to try and take one big stab at it, lol.

I read both trilogy, and I am still amazed of it!!!
study

Abnet is one of the best 40K authors, in my opinion...

He is working on the "UltramarinesThe Movie" scenario, witch is a valuable contribution I think.

He will also whrite a 3rd "inquisitorial trilogy, which could set the final opposition between the master and the former student...

Eisenhorn and Ravenor series are very interesting if you play Dark Heresy, witch is my case.

But about Ordo Malleus I think the most interesting help can be found in Grey Knights... (I have not read Dark Adeptus nor Hammer of Daemons).
