Land Raider Crusaider/w Psycannon Bolts

Ok so this might seem like a noob question, but do to the small nature of my gaming club some of the really basic stuff gets by me even though I've been playing for awhile.

I was lurking a forum a little while back and saw a post about a player wanting to take the Psy Bolt upgrade on his LRC to benefit his hurricane bolters. There seemed to be quite a bit of dissension between the members as to the legality of this upgrade.

On the one hand the vehicle upgrade section only mentions HB's and PMSB's.
On the other hand the wargear section says that any bolt weapon can take this upgrade.

I would be interested to know how the members of this forum side on this topic.

Look at the Vehicle part of the psycannon bolt upgrade, read it raw.

If it only mentions Hb and pmsb then only those can have it.

If it says something like "HB, PMSB and any other bolt weapons" then the hurricane bolters can have them.

I don't have the book right here otherwise i would look, i don't think it's legal.

But i would like it though!
The possibilities..... 2 hurricane S 4 ap 4 ignore invurnerable save bolter death!

I'll read the rules again when I get home, but I would be inclined to say it would be legal.... just from what I've seen/heard before and comments on other forums.

Also considering the pure cost of a LRC in a GK army, and the loss of bodies thats already pretty low I don't see why people complain, 3+ saves are probably the most common these days, and the bolts won't ignore cover saves (which all crap save armies now abuse like there is no tomorrow) so really I'd tell them to suck it up...

Klomster is correct. The rules do state specifically what weapons can be upgraded. I always thought that it sucked that infantry bolters can be upgraded but their hb's can't yet you can upgrade vehicle hb's but not the bolters.

Oh i didn't realise the hurricane bolters where not SB/HB's, but just normal bolters, in which case they can't be upgraded. (on tanks)

Thanks for the replies gents. For what it's worth I emailed the rules boys the same day I posted this and they pretty much came back with the same answer.

Yea its a bit of a kick in the balls if you where expecting something different, but that being said you can still get a normal LR's heavy bolters upgraded!!!

I went throught he same issues a year ago and I'm still reeling from that decision from the store manager, so many Tau and Eldar NOT dead from my Hurricane Bolters...Oh well, still even without that little boost our favourite anti-inf tank can still throttle enemies more than others.

What would rock would be if you could upgrade a entire PAGK's SB ammo to psy bolts for 5 points muahahah!

5 points for an entire squad would just be insane!

Considering the overpricing our figures currently sit at with codex creep, maybe 1 point a model, since thats assuming probably 2-3 points being absorbed that are currently overpriced on the unit being siphoned straight into the cost of the bolts.

Oh shit, ap 4 ignore inv saves storm bolters would be one of the most devastating shooting weapons avaviable for infantry.

Just imagime if they fought deamons!!!
