The attack on the fortress
Turn 1
Daemons
Movement

Moved two blood letter troops 6 inches has they appeared from the warp crackling energy’s all round them and the cry’s and hissing of roar anger. At the rear a giant soulgrinder stayed still and braced himself locking onto the fortress.

Shooting

Using the phlegm skill the soul grinder shot thru the fortress door armour 12 and was destroyed on a roll of a 4+ as a 5 was rolled, and down it came in a flash of shard metal small parts sticking into walls armour and anything else that stood in the way.

Grey knights

Movement

After the soul grinder takeing down the doors my grand master leapt into action and made run for the door shouting “move brothers this way now”, The three terminators one being a Justicar followed and the dreadnought following behind. The grand master shouted “Justicar’s take your men up on the wall NOW!!! Lay down fire on sector 78547”, one troop stood under the ledge of the walls while the other unit was not far behind but were still low down.

Turn 2

Daemons

Movement

Has the blood letters moved 3 inches into building leaping over the rouble, the second troop moved full 6 inch forward the daemons then made a attempt to teleport a squad of blood letters direct outside the fortress, but thank fully they got a 12 inc scatter rear wards. The soul grinder was still braced for its next shot its eyes focused on its target

Shooting

The soul grinder then braced himself and fired a shot of phlegm into the dreadnought which to his dismay bounced of his armour.

Movement

First troop failed to get onto the high ledge as they were still briefing (bad dice roll ) while the other troops rolled a five which was 1 inch over so up they went. I moved the terminators and the gm and the dread through the passage way through the rubble and smoke.

Shooting

The Justicar shouted to his men” Over there brothers take down the foul daemons” . as he spotted them appearing from the warp. The troop then shot the first set of blood letters and took a two down then came a volley from a Psycannon of one of the terminators and a well aimed shot from the Justicar which finished the last of that blood letter troop. The Justicar that was still on ground level in the fortress spotted the other Bloodletters troop trying to flank the terminators from the building. So he shouted to his brother “fire the Psycannon” taking down two of them.

Daemon

Movement

all of a sudden the was a loud crash and a roar inside the fortress, a Bloodthirster managed to infiltrate the fortress the ground shook from the impact of his landing, his mass casting a shadow over the Justicar and his troops(hit on deep strike)
Also a squad of blood letters landed by the fortress door next to the terminators there hissing and blood lust stench filling the air (hit on deep strike)
Another squad moved thru the building 6 inches while the unit in the ally way made a dash towards the terminators. While the soul grinder sat back and ready himself for another shot (rolled 6 for terrain)

Shooting

A loud crack of the Bloodthirster whip slashed thru the air missing the Justicar (failed to hit)
The soul grinder fired another volley but due to the mayhem and the dust his shot was of target (scatter 7 inches away from the unit)

Movement

The grand master shouted at his men “follow me brothers for the advantage” The terminators and the grandmaster moved round the side of the blood letters, that had deep striked full 6 inches but were only 5 inches away from them. The dread naught was close in tow his mass shacking the ground has the servos powered him forward. The troop inside I didn’t move has even if they fell back the would still be in assault range by the Bloodthirster, so stood their ground and made ready for the battle that was to come.

Shooting

The Justicar had faced Bloodthirster before and shouted for his unit to fire the storm bolter rounds. The rounds bouncing of it hardened body but one Psycannon bolt ripped thru it arm (1wound). The troops on the top row were still picking the Bloodletters of and managed to take another two down in the building. while the terminators then opened fire at the new deeps strike unit of blood letters, the thundering rounds of his storm bolters taking down 2 and then the dreadnought toor one apart with his assault cannon.

Assault

The Justicar said a small prayer and charged forward "no fear no remorse all or nothing" his agility was amazing even in the large armourer, his brothers charged in too as they ran in. The Bloodthirster roared and swiped three of the grey knights and sent them reeling from his axe bones crashing and breaking against the wall near by. The other two GK there weapons were parried or dodged, then the Justicar with his martial skill in a flurry of moves swiped and took two wounds of the Bloodthirster with his weapon. (Bloodthirster got to strike first due to higher inish Bloodthirster had one wound left)
The grand master in his fury almost growled and charged in at the nearby Bloodletters his brothers and the dread in tow, his force weapon cutting one down the parts of the body falling to the ground in two. The terminators scored 2 wounds but the Bloodletters were battle hardened and managed to dodge both the successful attacks thus doing nothing. Then the ancient brother picking one of the blood letters up like a doll slammed it into the ground smashing it unholy carcass into the pieces there was one remaining and three still to left

Movement

The Bloodletters that were coming thru the building were still clambering over the rubble from the ancient adminerstratum (rolled a 1 for terrain)
The soul grinder pressed forward his rage of anger strong at watching his fellow daemons being cut down by the Grand Master and his troops (moved 6 inches forward)

Shooting

The soul grinder fired a rushed shot at the grey knights on the wall but missed, he then braced and took another rushed shot with the harvester but to no avail (6 hits no wounds!!!)

Assault
The Bloodthirster tore thru the last of the grey knight troop killing them all in a spray of blood
The other troop of Bloodletters were now upon the grey knights, the strength increase by the charge the rage strong and hungry for blood they pounced on the brother captain. But his agility and skill evading there attacks all missing. The grey knights were now concentrated on the blood letters and in a coordinated set of movements cut them all down, leaving none to even glance at the sky with a dying breath

The dread then moved towards the soul grinder his servos and hulking body striding forward with purpose, the terminators also began to move full 6 inches towards the evil daemon

Shooting

Suddenly the dread stopped turned 180 deg and fired a volley from his assault cannon the rounds bouncing and ripping off parts of the wall. The terminators saw the dread turn and fire so looked to see there optics lock onto the Bloodthirster. One of the terms took a well trained shot at the Bloodthirster and took it down blowing its head into ash, its large body falling to the floor while it twitched and moved from the beheading

The soul grinder then fired a volley from his harvester cutting one of the terminators down his phlegm attack missing he reared and set himself to attack.

Assault

The daemon reeled from the psychic aura coming off the grey knights it very stench burning its nose and eyes it skin feeling like it was stood in the very bowls of hell itself, the pain was even too much for this creature of the warp and it could not move forward to attack (The assault failed has the daemon could only assault 3 inches due to Grey knight power which put the assault to short).

Grey knights movement

A loud cry rained into the air “to me my brothers “the agility of the grey knights compared to other marines was amazing, it was as if the they had no armour on at all they closed in on the daemon with the dread in tow (units moved full 6 inches).

Shooting

No shooting was done has all weapons have no affect on the soul grinder being armour 13 on the front

Assault

The grey night grandmaster with his centuries of training and wars moved forward faster and faster, even his brothers could not keep up his agility and speed was like no other. The soul grinder still reeling from the wards engraved into the very skin of the grey knights could not focus. Now the grandmaster leapt in the air spun round and made two cuts that looked like they didn’t even hit the beast, he landed on one knee sword facing face down in a prayer position and began to pray and give thanks to the emperor for the victory. The daemon started to move back as thin lines and cracks started to form on its body it collapsed to the ground in a loud roar of pain, has the very life force of the warp left its body It fell, the grand master did not even look up at this as the beast crashed to the ground. And almost seemed in such a trance of the prayers he was saying that he would be there for ever

Praise be brothers the fortress was saved and the brothers lost will be remembered

i found that when we were playing this battle that the rules were alot easier to understand and the game itsself was fun , hope to have another one soon

Sounds like you are both getting the hang of the rules now, and finding out that Grey Knights can slice and dice alot of daemons.

5th edition does make for a faster more enjoyable game also learnt a few good tactics about my army and using them to support each other but the main thing I learnt is USE YOUR POWERS we got them so use them it stopped a assault that could have been nasty

Sweet!! Looks like you are really getting the hand of the GKs IL.

The black GKs are looking really sharp to. It's important to look smart when you're crushing the foul Daemon isn't it

It's always important too look your best!

And grey knights look so good, they even have a special rule for it!
(Everybody know that if an enemy fails a shrouding test, the gk is so awesome and powerpose so much that the enemy worships them becouse the gk is so cool)

it was a fun battle and shows with a bit of imnagernation you can use any thing for terrain

Entertaining batrep. I agree that 5th ed is faster and cleaner. The biggest thing for me is just 'remembering' to use GK special abilities. Shrouding is something I forget half the bloody time.
