I love the Skitarii, but i´m not sure about the chickens. I must see them in front of me. The rules are cool. Some of them reminds me of my Thagmata. It seem that GW made the desicion to stay rule-wise closer to the FW Mechanicum rules.

We'll see, as you know i'm very into the 40k fluff, and the mechanicus fluff needs to be good. Otherwise i'll just give up on Gw completely.

Thinking better, i would not take the plasma caliver on rangers, the chance to get hot is higher on a single model with just a 4+ save.

Don't forget the 6+ FNP roll, it increases the odds a bit.

the plasma caliver is mostly better on skitarii vanguard imo.

the unit has a 18" range in general so you wont lose range when adding the plasma caliver there (which is 18" aswell)
rangers have a base 30" range which is great allready.

in general i am not a big fan of them, 30 points seem a bit expensive. same goes for the phosphor weapons.
