Need help filling out 2000 pt Semi-Competitive list!
I've been playing Grey Knights since November 2011. It's a completely different game play from my Tau and I'm looking at attending a couple tournaments soon and need help filling out the lists.
List 1
HQ - Grand Master - (205)
Rad & Psychotroke grenades with sword
HQ - Inquisitor Coteaz - (100)
Troops - Strike Squad - (290)
10man, 1x Hammer, 2xPsycannon, Psybolt Ammo, and a Rhino
Troops - Henchmen (200)
8x Death Cults and a Razorback with a Twin-linked Lascannon
Troops - Henchmen (115)
3x Servitors with Plasma Cannon and a Chimera w/ Hull Hvy Flamer & Multi-Laser
Heavy Support - Land Raider Crusader (265)
Multi Melta
Heavy Support - Dreadnought (135)
2x Twin-linked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo
Heavy Support - Dreadnought (135)
2x Twin-linked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo
Fast Attack - Stormraven (205)
MultiMelta, Assault Cannon
Elites - Paladins (350)
5man
Brotherhood Banner Stormbolter
Halberd Stormbolter
Halberd Psycannon
Sword Psycannon
Hammer Stormbolter
I usually put the DCA w/ the Grand Master in the Crusader while the Paladins go in the Raven. Coteaz babysits the servitors while the strike squads play mid field clean up. So far I've been pretty successful with this list except against completely mech lists. I'd like to figure out how to fix the list or change it to make it better.
Soon I'm going to try this list out.
List 2
HQ - Librarian (170)
HQ - Coteaz (100)
Troops - Terminators (250)
5man, 3xHalberds, Brotherhood Banner, Psycannon
Troops - Strike Squad - (291)
10man, 1x Hammer, 2xPsycannon, Psybolt Ammo, and a Rhino with Searchlight
Troops - Henchmen (231)
10xDeath Cults and a Razorback with a Twin-linked Lascannon & Searchlight
Troops - Henchmen (209)
2x Servitors w/ Plasma Cannon, 2x Jokaero, 4x Warrior Acolytes w/Stormbolters and Chimera w/ Extra Armor Hull HvyFlamer & Multi-Laser
Heavy Support - Land Raider Crusader (266)
Multi Melta
Heavy Support - Dreadnought (136)
2x Twin-linked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo
Heavy Support - Dreadnought (136)
2x Twin-linked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo, Searchlight
Fast Attack - Stormraven (206)
MultiMelta, Assault Cannon, Searchlight
My plan with this list is similar, I have the Death Cults in the Crusader while the Termies and Librarian ride in the Raven. I have the Strike squad run mid field support and the dreads and Coteaz with the shooting henchmen sit back providing fire support.
Comments and Criticism welcome, I'm looking for as much help as I can get. I've been tempted to play more with the Paladins as I like their durability and what they bring to the table.

Re: Need help filling out 2000 pt Semi-Competitive list!
welcome on this forum pal.
just a quick remark : razorbacks can transport only 6 models and the henchmen (if i'm not mistaken) can't combat squad so in your firt list the 8 DCA must go to the chimera and the 3 plasma servitors in the razorback
same thing with the 10 DCA in the list 2.
personnally i'm not found of mixed lists (GKs + Henchmen) i prefer full GK or full Henchmen lists, though i understand their efficiency.
in the list 1 i think that your troops are a bit fragile (T3 of the henchmen) and in list 2 you've got a relative weakness of anti-tank power, but that's just remarks with my style of play. If you know well how to use your list it might be not a problem

Brother Shdwrpr,
In your second list what powers do you plan to give the librarian?
In the first what would you loose from the list if you swapped the GM for an ][ with the same grenades. I know it is Grand Strat, but if what do you use it for as most of your units are troops. Is it to gain scout or the like.
The change may allow you to get another dread in for more AT. (Personally I would go with a GM, but have him run with Paladins or Terminators.)
I will need to go think about the points etc to see if that is the case.

Re: Need help filling out 2000 pt Semi-Competitive list!
@ Aubec: I know that the Razorback can only hold 6 models, but I haven't noticed anything in the rules where you can't take transports for squads that are too big to deploy in them. In that case, the Razorback stays empty for most games as a glorified turret while the Land Raider holds the Death Cults. So the Razorback can be taken with a larger squad as long as you don't deploy or embark unto the vehicle while your squad is above it's capacity. At least that's how I understand it.
@ Flaxis: I give the Librarian Might, Shrouding, Sanctuary, & Warp Rift. He and his squad usually either over kill whatever they come in contact with or end up dying horribly as the Stormraven is a huge bullet magnet.
I typically prefer the Grand Master for Grand Strategy. The ][ just doesn't do what he can. Depending on what the game type is is how I've used Grand Strat. In some kill point games I've given my Strike squad Scout, drove their Rhino forward 12" rotate 90 degrees and disembark before 1st turn, allowing me to get a 1st turn charge off against whatever squad deployed too far forward. This usually buys the rest of my army enough time to get into CC without too much damage being taken. This solves my anti-tank issue by shoving the majority of my army in the opponents deployment zone by the bottom of turn 2, by over taxing his target priority list. Otherwise I give my Paladins and Dreads scoring.

It´s true, the FAQ states that you can take a dedicated transport for squads that are bigger than the transport capacity, and then deploy them separately.
