I know Draigo and the pallies cost a ton of points... but it just feels so right. Let me know if it's just absolutely nuts to spend that many points on 11 models. I feel like they could still be effective because they each have 2 wounds, and they can throw holocaust around (especially if I combat squad them). The interceptors are there to deliver flanking and hitting the soft backsides of vehicles (once again, they just feel awesome to me). So I've got midfield destruction machines and flankers, what else do I need? Some awesome fire support in the back! And who better to serve that purpose than a dreadnought with two twin-linked autocannons? I expect to primarily be playing my friend's army of Orks, and I feel like purifiers would be more effective against them, but I want to try out some interceptors and pallies first, because they just feel right to me. Also, if ever I play this against an army that likes to deep strike, then I'll combat squad the SS and interceptors and spread warp quake around the board, essentially either controlling the only safe places for him to DS in or giving him a mishap.

Let me know what you think. All comments and criticisms are more than welcome!

EDIT: I would like to make room for a BH Banner with the pallies, but I just don't see anything that can be sacrificed (save for a couple knights out of the SS?).

Draigo and his boys definitely are expensive but you still have a nice amount of models for 1500 points. With the full GKIS squad that can combat squad and deepstriking all-around you can overcome your lack of mobility in objective games. I think this list could do well but with only 4 units any tactical errors or bouts of bad dice rolling may make life difficult. Definitely give the list a try though.

32 models for 1500pts is definitely not bad at all. Heck, I only have 38 models at 2000pts Razz

I will! The local gaming store doesn't have much of a stock, but I'm about to order the rest of the models. So far I've built 5 interceptors and 5 pallies. I've also built a dreadknight, but that doesn't get me any closer to fielding this army haha.

I've finished building all the models for this army. I am out of town this weekend, but my orky friend will be playing me next week. Additionally, my local gaming store will be having someone contact me in the near future to help me learn and play against as well. Here is a picture of my army:

Just one piece of adivce,
your pallies are expensive you should try and get better would allocation on them, it will save you tons of troble

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about beyond the pallies being expensive... "would allocation"?

EDIT: Oh "WOUND allocation" haha. Well I'm not actually entirely sure how wound allocation works. I know basically if you have models with different weapons then you assign the wounds differently, but beyond that it's fuzzy.

wound allocation
If you equip them all differently, you choose where the wound go to so you are not rolling all the dice ant once and just one at a time really reducing the chance of rolling a one, and it helps for those pesky S8 AP2 weapons, that strength double you, you can choose draigo to take those shots with his Eternal Warrior 3++ save, saving a pally`s life most of the time

Different model groups is a kind of way people abuse wound allocation now.

When you allocate wounds you have to do it evenly across your models. I still haven't ever seen actual proof that its legal, but everyone plays it this way, in that they try and 'stack' all the instant death shots or wounds onto one model and then spread the rest out over a squad.

This means if your 10 paladins get shot with say 18 regular shots and 2 melta shots, you would probably distribute the two melta onto the same guy, and the 18 other shots onto 9 other guys. (This would mean your guy eating the melta shots will likely die and you will take 3 other wounds on normal pallies. Killing one, and leaving one on 1 wound - however if they are all different each guy takes two saves, and you might end up with 3 guys on 1 wound, with non dieing - apart from the guy taking the melta shots.)

This works because the 1 guy has unique gear, say a Psycannon and MC Halberd, while everyone else has a stormbolter and halberd.
If every single guy in the squad has slightly different gear you can abuse the system.

This also circum-navigates the rule that states when you take an instant killing attack (that removes all wounds) it has to be taken from a model that still has full wounds rather than one with 1 wound left.

Personally I think its pretty close to cheating and hope they remove it next ruleset, but thats just me. I only say this because personally I think wounds should be allocated by groups the same way that models are seperated into groups. If you have several instant killing attacks they should be distributed between your models, and then normal shots should be distributed evenly as well. Its generally an issue for shooting, since it basically all takes place at the same initiative step, whereas your powerfist for example will hit last and the wounds have to be distributed evenly with other attacks at the same speed.

For Paladins you can do this various ways. For 5 points you can mastercraft your NFW or your Stormbolter.
This lets you make a complex unit.
For example a 5 man squad.
1 Paladin, Halberd, SB
1 Paladin, Halberd Psycannon
1 Paladin Hammer, SB
1 Paladin MC Halberd, SB
1 Paladin Halberd, MC SB

If you like mixing your weapons up a bit more you don't have to waste the 10 points MC'ing two items.

BTW how many Psycannons do your Paladins have?

@Zealadin Pg 26 of the book 3 and 4th paragraph are what allows it, although they shouldn't be stacking multiple instant death hits(6th paragraph, pg26)

Wound allocation shenannigans, always complicated to explain.... But to be fair, I think it's a good step towards a fair game, though it's not the last or best one, but we're getting there.
