i quite like them remind me of the penitent engine for sisters

Sort of. The penitent engine was a pain to put together but had a hint of movement in the body. This thing is as static as the Eldar wraithlord but quite probably harder to convert. The space marine dreadnought gets away with it due to stumpy legs, but this thing is too tall to pull off the pose. And even then I replaced my dread legs with sentinel ones so that they can get some motion into the model.

But it's only one fuzzy picture, it depends on how the sprue breaks down. It might have more options.

I just don't like the idea of the dreadknight going toe to toe with a bloodthirster as much as i like the idea of a grandmaster illuminated by an aura of his own purity dwarfed by an archfiend.

In Ghostbusters they didn't need a giant walking machine to take out Mr Staypuff.
In Ghostbusters 2, they got a big walking machine and the movie sucked.

Movie mistakes are ones we should all learn from.

it will be plastic so fairly easy to convert to give a better pose
wraithlords are static in normal pose but very very easy to convert into dramatic poses full of energy (I have just finished a striking scorpion like one crouching like a predator and pushing off on his back toes)

The only thing that put doubt in my mind was the thickness of the legs. It'll be doable, just more faffing around.

In the army pic you can see just how big they are against the Land Raider but I agree at the moment fluff wise I dont like them game and model wise the are awesome so will wait to see how the fluff around them works out

In the leaked pics it looks like some of the PAGK are carrying bolters with shoulder straps hanging down..... i doubt they would do this but if it is what i think it is than im going to be extreamly pissed. I will buy the models just smash them on the sidewalk out side the store......

let's wait and see, plus, on the army pic, I agree with Brother Spartan... the quality is so poor that I only manage to compare the different moddel sises. I can't see any detail... except the banners.

*Nods* Well said Brother Zealadin. I shall retain my faith that Grey Knights will keep what makes them Grey Knights. I certainly hope not to see tons of GK bandwagon players...that will always strike a nerve.

Exactly, barring the horrendous event of our new codex being a total sell out I think I'll be aiming for a mainly oldschool GK army. Particularly GKT-wise.
I'm tempted to try and buy a few more in the meantime to bulk out what I already have before they become unavailable!

I am certainly hoping we don't lose stormbolters though, that would SUCK!

The Dreadknight I'm a bit so-so about. It might be done really well and be quite cool. As I've said before I think there is a real place for the MC type walker, with really high toughness and a good save in the place of dreadnoughts and vehicle type walkers.
Done right they can be a model which won't be removed from the game with a lucky turn 1 lascannon shot, something vehicle rules sadly can't do despite the unlikelyhood.

I too think a GM bathed in holy light and emnating power while dwarfed by a chaos daemon (that he is about to WTFOWN) is cooler, but if the DK is a bit more of a weapons platform to provide much needed AT in a more traditional GK way that might work for me... hard to say until I see how its implemented.

I'll tell you one thing, if they do turn out to be bolters and don't have options to upgrade to storm bolters I'm afraid I'll be telling you guys "nice knowin' ya." I won't be scrapping all my models and lining G-dubs grubby little pockets by buying a bunch of over-priced plastic ones. We seem to be heading towards a bunch of vanilla Marines with some psychic powers. Not the army I want to play thank you.

March may be too soon... The Dex is to be released in April...

On the itinerary there's a half hour slot for 'new releases' and I figure theres a fair chance they might have some Grey Knight stuff kicking around by then. But you're right, a post release letter would be better. Tied to the decapitated head of whatever roadkill i find on the way up.

Storm Bolters are still our standard load out.

Look I have been privy to snipits from a member of my club that has gotten pieces from a playtest dex.

Please I ask you not repeat these outside of these our hallowed walls. Fanboys of GK roll on dakka and warseer etc. The true brothers, you outstanding beacons of light for the emperor shine brightest here.

The DK is a mounted Mech suit equiping a Grey knight warrior with the tools to stand toe to toe with the warps largest and greatest of threats. This is not to replace our orders greatest heroes from doing so as well. Its a recognition of the fact that we can't just rely on our grandmasters and special brother captains to fight or handle Greater Daemons toe to toe.

I promised my friend I would not splurge and divulge tons of info but I feel for the purest of you that are truly worried. Some stuff is sorta meh but for the most part what I have seen is awesome.

Here is the first paragraph from the DK description:

"It is a truth reluctantly acknowledged by the Grey Knights that valour, purity of spirit and battle-skill can only carry a warrior so far in single combat with a Greater Daemon of Chaos. After all, such diabolic monstrosities tower over even terminators, and even the weakest wields the raw might of more than a dozen space marines. Yet needs must that often such hellspawn be faced down and destroyed, not by a entire Brotherhood of GRey Knights, nor a score of Terminators, nor even a squad of Purifiers, but by a single valiant hero of the Chapter. Take it as you will I am a rather quiet person around here but I am rather fond of this our dedicated place. I feel for those who care so deeply about the coolest army in 40k and love it like I do. From what I have seen I think we will be happy and competitive.

I have seen scattered pieces of the Fluff description of units and their stats, no wargear descriptions just basic loadouts and options.

If you notice in a few posts here about the "new holocaust" i was insistent that it wasnt because I had already read about it being cleansing flame and specific to purifiers. Also as a disclaimer what I was allowed to peak at may NOT have been the final playtest stuff so obviously subject to change. I doubt they change fluff stuff but stat stuff etc Id refrain from just to be safe.

But that army listing you are seeing is all stuff I have caught snips of. Ill be happy to try and chime where I can but again I insist that what I do share remains here. My friend would be none too pleased if this ever made its way back to his sources.

His fluff description is nearly two full pages and he is of the utmost badassery. The only daemonic entities who even bother to challenge him because the rest know they can't beat him are khorne minions, greater Daemons and his nemesis M'kar.

What people need to realize is that what was essentially 4 units in the daemon hunters dex has now had to be turned into a FULL fledged self standing army in a codex of its own. Yes its retained some of its Inquisition in fact increased in some regards, but we had 1 GK special character 2 HQ choices and 3 infantry choices. Also this army needs to be able to stand up to whats been released in 5th edition and whats still to come. Necrons Sobs several Sm chapters Orks Eldar Tau. So yes of course some things may seem or sound contrived or extreme but as long as our on the table capability remains relative to the current meta game then its just adjusting to the fluff changes. Frankly the fluff is what you make it, make your own purest branch etc. Finally we should be able to hang on the table with nearly anyone and have the options needed to build both fun fluffy armies and tournament viable comps.

What I also think they are trying to show is that although we are the Chapter Militant of the Ordo Malleus we are ABOVE them we work beyond them for we are pure and we have never lost a brother to the corruptions of the warp. We are the Grey Knights!

and we get a shiney new book to prove it.
