Pure Radicalism
As some of you may be thinking, this is not a Radical Daemonhunter army list. It is far worse, it is a Radical Imperial Army List. Yes, it is a 1000 Point CSM army. I went there and it is enjoyable, especially after I finally get a chance to use my Defiler (First 40k model ever bought, months before I ever started the hobby) who has been on the back burner of a paint job longer then any of my knights and it was only until recently that I finally decided on a paint job for him that I couldn't resist the temptation any longer.
So without further ado, here is the list:
HQ - Daemon Prince - Wings, Mark of Tzeentch, Warptime, Winds of Chaos
2x Troops - Thousand Sons - 8x T-Sons, 1x Sorc, Rhino - Bolt of Change, Daemonic Possession
HS - Defiler - Reaper Autocannon, Additional CC Weapon
This is the start of my growing T-Son army. I just have to say, that of all the other armies and units, none has appealed to me more then the T-Sons.
Had a game against my best friend with this list, and it went well for me, more or less really. What happened was that my T-Son's didn't get much of a chance to fire, not many targets given really, and his list was illegal but we had fun anyway (1x Troop). The Prince did all right, he took out his Raider on turn two, killing two zerkers on the inside. One sorc died from perils when trying to fire at the raider before the prince charged. Another Sorc nuked his pred from the side. And Defee, he did well with that pie plate when targeting the vehicles, did little but shake them at best, but it scared his terminator lord and his terminators a lot that he tried to keep them back and use their autocannon to the best of its abilities, but it didn't work too well. His zerkers wiped out one squad of T-Sons, but the sorc held his ground for one turn before failing. In the end, Defee finally caught up to the terminators (w/o Fists) and squashed them.
Ah it is great to finally see Defee finally painted and doing well with a pack of bodies at his back to join him. Sure the Prince is the HQ, but to me, Defee is the heart of this growing army.

That's not radical but downright heresy!
But about the list, at 1000 points the prince and defiler could be difficult to handle for your opponent. Well maybe not the defiler.
I personally don't think thousand sons are good but they are certainly cool.

That´s a brutal list, Grimhack. The troops have all DS3, 4+Inv Save and they can move and fire on 24". And they have their sorcerers. With the defiler and the DP they have some okay support.

Is it really 'heresy' when I employ use the powers of chaos against chaos itself? I dare to think not. Do not presume to judge me or the methods that I employ. I am doing the Emperors work, and only it is Him whom I dare answer to.
Well the Defiler could last long, like I did in that game, its just a matter of how I use Defee.

Re: Pure Radicalism
Well, you are correct brother bjoern, but the thousand sons are really expensive for their ap3 bolters. Not to mention that you can easily get cover saves and quickly move in for combat in which they loose the advantage of their strong bolters.
That's usually the reason for people to like plague marines and berzerkers more, but as I said, the thousand sons are really cool.

I agree, Thousand Sons are (ahem...choke, choke) pretty cool I like them the best among the different CSM.

If I were to make a Chaos army,I would make it like my own band of mad and sinister pillagers and slaughterers, with sticking in much heavy firepower and armoured vechicles and actually getting my first ever Land Raider.
Oh wait I have allready done that(except for the Land Raider part)

I hate vehicles in 40k, I just feel like they have taken way too large a role in the game this edition, particularly with imbalanced between what older armies get, and what older armies can kill.
I do have a LR however (incomplete)

One reason why I'm just gonna go pure with only Defilers and Rhino's for this army. My friend always complains about my Raiders, Dreads and everything Daemonhunter related. Besides, it would be fun to have an army where I don't need the Raiders. The Rhino's in this list are only really there for two reason, move the T-Son's around and to Tank Shock the living daylights out of everything that they can reach.

Re: Pure Radicalism
Yeah, mobility is a key aspect of the game, but mobility without the power behind the initial thrust will not accomplish anything. And power without mobility will never reach the enemy.Thats why I have 2 transports in my 1000pts CSM army(yeah thats right I just got myself a Land Raider) and 1 fire support vechicle(Predator with lascannon side-sponsons and Twin-linked lascannon turret).1 squad and Lord(in LR) will advance, the LR being the initial thrust, with support fire from the predator, then Lord and the squad embarked are the power behind the initial thrust and the last but not least the squad in Rhino are strategic assets,a.k.a applying theyr might where I will need them(capture objective, help out the 1st squad and lord, shield them from incoming fire or turn around and take care of anything trying to take out the predator)

Re: Pure Radicalism
I totally agree Brother E. If GK's were allowed to have rhinos, GK's will definitely be a much more DOMINANT army list.
The added flexibility and mobility is the only lacking piece since we all know that GK's are not lacking in power.

A lot of my friends say that grey knights really need to become cheaper, get rhino's and melta's.
But then we would probably be... just marines.

Yea exactly I would literally break all my GK's and throw them in the rubbish if they where just given meltas and rhinos or cheap transports.
Stormravens for sure, but turning them into another Space Marine army would just be extremely lame!
Particularly since it totally goes against the lore

Re: Pure Radicalism
Well I managed to use this list once again today, and against good old Guardsmen. The game ended in a draw with the Trench Warfare Battle Mission Scenario selected. Early 2-3 turns were brutal for me. Lost my DP at the start of Turn 2 to massed fire, before that though, both of my Rhino's were immobilized before they could even move from lascannon and missile fire. One did repair itself but it was then wrecked the following turn. My last rhino did manage to fix itself as well, and did move but this was on turn five and it ended there so it only moved 12 inches w/o doing anything at all besides get shot at. My T-Son's hoofed it, wrecking a chimera, slaughtering the foolish who were near (Not much, just a penal squad and a special weapons team). As far as kills went, my Defiler killed a 30 man squad of Guardsmen, then killed off the platoon commander which caused the game to come to a draw (After losing BOTH his Battle Cannon and Reaper Autocannon!!!).
It was a fun game, but downright brutal if I can't really get up close to guardsmen quickly to smash their lines.
