2k GK vs Wifes new Nids
Not really sure what to do here...she has ALOT of units. Hive Tyrant w/ Bone Swords and Lash Whip, (2x)25 Terms w/ Devouers aka 75 assault shots per squad, a trygon, a mawloc, carnifex(converted to biovore), 10 genestealers plus broodlord, the unique zoanthrope(doom of malanti?), 3x warriors and next month going to use a Naz'gul from LotR for a harpy. My idea was to get guys with force weapons to hopefully kill the high wound characters(and i want to use my Hector Rex) and once i can get into range basically back pedal the whole game shooting at them. Also going to use my GKGM as ranged support with his bs5 psycannon and the BC as a TH/SS squad for the big'uns. Tooled out the GKGM because I need him to be flexable for assault and for range.
HQ:
Hector Rex
2x Mystic, Heirophant, Acolyte w/ Power Armor, IG Vet w/ Plasma Gun
GKGM, IoJ, Psycannon, MC-NFW, Word of the Emperor, Frags
4x Termies w/ Psycannon

BC w/ TH/SS, Word of the Emperor, Frags
3x Termies w/ Incin

Justicar w/ Frags
9x PAGK w/ Incin

I agree. That should be a competitive list vs your wife's 'nids. Having Hector and a GM in the same list is awesome!

Ha, you should have seen it earlier. I was trying to figure out how to get Hector, GKGM, Stern and a BC w/ Force in the same list...note Stern is a HQ choice only as is Stern and GM so no go...but you can get Rex, GKGM, and a BC w/ Force in the same list. Just wish you could upgrade a BC to a GM(in the elite slot).

Re: 2k GK vs Wifes new Nids
yes you can go with Stern as HQ and GM and Hector Rex, cause Stern don't count on the HQ maximum... but i agree it would be too much !!

Actually, I think Stern doesn't count towards the 0-1 limit on GK heroes but I'm pretty sure he counts as an HQ...

I dont think termies can take Frags....
And yeah, Stern, although not counting towards your 0-1 limit on Grey Knight Characters still counts towards your two maximum HQ's for the army

'Holocaust' might be what your thinking for your Brother Captain? I don't think he can take 'Word of the Emperor'

Re: 2k GK vs Wifes new Nids
I checked last night and it says "A DH army of 1500 points or more may be joined by Brother-Captain Stern. If you take him then he counts as one of the HQ choices for the army and must be used exactly as described below and may not be given any additional equipment." So he would take a FOC spot but not a GK Hero spot.
I did not look at frags ...or word...so yah word for termies will become holocaust. Is that a smart choice considering Shadow of the Warp(3d6 psychic tests).
I grabbed a Captain Lysander for my BC TH/SS but should I grab more TH/SS models and just tote them around in a LR for a MC killer squad? I am really worried about this...after all she has one of the staff helping her with her list and tactics and he is an amazing general.

Yah your probably right...as long as Im not attacking the Tyrant with a Lash Whip the initiave will be important...that being said against a Hive Tyrant with a Lash s8 would probably work better...hrmm what to do what to do.

Re: 2k GK vs Wifes new Nids
Shoot the tyrant! Dont go into close combat with it. I doubt you will be able to beat it.
Oh and psycannons are awesome against zoanthropes and the doom of Mal.
A way to avoid the termagaunts' massive amount of shots would be by hiding in the raiders.
Thoughts on hector and co. My personal oppinion is that he sucks, along the lines with every inquisitor. His S4 attacks arent likely to kill much. Especially not a tyrant.
Why the powerarmour for the acolyte? If you plan on using Rex against big dudes, then armour will be ignored.
Also, why a hierophant? Doesnt he just give -1 ld to daemons?
If i remember correctly, the lash whips only works on folks in base contact with the wearer? You could stock up on henchmen and put them inbetween the tyrant and guard and Rex and you might have a small chance. But you would still have to kill off the guard before hurting the tyrant much.
To sum up, the points are better used on a third terminator squad.
Or at least 3 plasma guys to take wounds of the biggies and then have the GKTs take care of them.
Which would make Rex redundant. Maybe just use the model as a normal inquisitor?

Re: 2k GK vs Wifes new Nids
Just thought it would be fun to use Rex, Scourging I have never used, the Hierophant because it comes with Rex and is obligitory, also for the deathleaper if for some reason my model scares her Hierophant is +1LD. I take the acolyte in case Im fighting some stuff that isnt ap3 I can move the wound to the acolyte and hope he saves.
On the lash whip, yes it is base contact. My thoughts however were to stun him with the BC TH or shoot him...depending on the situation.

If it's base contact, then you can go the cheesy way with your grandmaster and make sure your grandmaster is like 10" away but a retinue member is within 6", then you charge so that maybe one terminator is in base contact but they all fight... But for that you need to be good at guessing ranges.
