There's a tourney coming up in the next 3 weeks, I've tossed my hat into the ring and thrown together a list that I won't actually get to playtest before the event Shocked 

So, I'm going to see what people think - the basic premise is going to be 'you come to me' - I'm going to sit there, pummelling my opponent turn after turn and if they want to do anything about it, they have to advance to me. With Grand Strategy, every unit can be scoring if needed

So

Grand Master with Orbital Strike Relay, Psycannon, Mastery Level 2 (not sure if I actually need this), Halberd

Techmarine with OSR

Techmarine with OSR

Strike Squad with psycannon, justicar has halberd - Razorback with TL Heavy Bolters and Psybolt
Strike Squad with psycannon, justicar has halberd - Razorback with TL Heavy Bolters and psybolt

Interceptor Squad with psycannon

Purgation Squad with 4 psycannons

Defence Line with a Quad Gun

The GM is going in the Purgation Squad, techmarine in each of the Strike Squads, most of them will be jumping behind the defence line

I have 9 points spare at the present, if I drop back down to mastery level 1 on the GM, I have 44 points 'spare'

I can 'shunt' onto objective using the scoring Interceptors, the razorbacks are just mobile gun platforms. I'm not sure f I can Astral aim an Orbital Strike, but I'm willing to give it a go

What say you, brothers?

And my GM needs a name...

Double check the FAQ, but just a guess, I'm pretty sure Astral Aim and Orbital Strike don't compliment each other.

I like your list. Please write up a report on how you do.

I didn't think they would work together, it just seems a little overpowered - I will provide reports as and when they become available (after I've played the games)

However, as it stands, just the purgation squad and GM can lay down 20 Str 7, AP 4 Rending shots without LOS or, if I use the OSR's, that's up to 9 pie plates at Str 6 with unlimited range.

I have either 4 or 39 points spare and no idea what to spend them on...

I'm thinking i could add another Interceptor to that squad, leaving me 13 points spare

Psybolt both of the techmarines

and a servo skull? Although the servo skull kind of cuts down on the idea of the enemy coming to me?

Really, I'd like an Inquisitor with psyker to throw into the Purgation squad, but that would be 55 points and I don't really have anything else I can cut out

OR

I take a hunter killer missile on each razorback, psybolt both of the techmarines, give them stormbolters instead of bolters and a servo skull

Does OSR require full scatter with both dice? I've never used OSR and the most of the post in prior topics usually regarded it's usefulness as wanting. Plus, if your tactic goes as plans, by turn 2 and 3, OSR could be rendered useless. You wouldn't want to scatter upon your own troops unintentionally.

If your considering more Interceptors, maybe a full 10-man squad could prove useful to kite around and provide support fire. One strong suggestion is to focus fire power in eliminating one squad at a time. A sort of gauntlet by which you funnel and whittle your opponent down. Ofcourse, terrain will be your friend or foe in this matter.

With potentially 9 pie plates hitting the deck each turn, the OSR's can be used to force my opponent to come to me, otherwise I'm just going to pummel them over and over and over

Once they are within 24 inches, however, the psycannons open up - there's 20 dice of shooting in that Purgation squad from psycannons alone, and although my opponents would get a cover save, I don't need LOS with Astral Aim.

I have 19 points left to play with - I have put a hunter-killer on each Razorback, just in case I need a couple of high Str hits early in the game

The Hunter Killer missiles will add the hurt to a squad to help finish them off.

I think the battlecannon fortifications would be a better investment than OSR's.

BS2, can roll a hit and on an AV14 platform means that someone has to be determined to get rid of them. But most importantly - S8 AP3 - perfect for instant killing.

The question is would servo skulls reduce their scatter?

So whats the point of being BS2? I'll have to read the fortification rules online - don't want to buy if they scatter full - it would be just as bad as the OSR

Sorry, right answer but wrong guestion Embarassed, my mind was on the orbital bombardment, would have to check the wording on the skulls, if it states that only grey knights can use it then no but if it is open then yes
