Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces Empty Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces

Post by Rion Sun Aug 04, 2013 10:00 pm

I'll go ahead and post Bradley and his cadre of followers sense they're what I've done the most work on.

Bradley: Lord Inquisitor Almon Bradley has faithfully served the Emperor for over a century and a half. Starting his career like most Inquisitors by serving under an older more experienced Inquisitor as a Warrior Acolyte. His skill with blade and pistol, as well as his open, quick thinking mind, and quiet but solid faith made Bradley a favored by his mentor who tutored the young man in everything he would need to know as an Inquisitor. Bradley's time as an Acolyte was brought to an abrupt end. While investigating reports of a cult on one of the many nameless worlds he had visited Bradley's mentor was laid low by a cultists sniper and with his dying breath the Inquisitor named Bradley his successor and died from his wounds. Bradley subdued the cult taking great pains to capture the sniper alive and leaving him stranded in space in little more then a void suit, to slowly die as his air ran out. Quickly and sternly taking the reigns of the vast network of spies, soldiers and resources his mentor/father figure had acquired in his own three centuries of service Bradley set about to make his own mark on history.

Only a few years after he became an Inquisitor Bradley was captured and became a "guest" to a group of Dark Eldar pirates who for the next six months proceed to torture Bradley with repeated psychic assaults. Bradley was spared bodily harm for these Dark Eldar had grown tired of destroying flesh and wanted to see what it was like to destroy a mind and leave the flesh alone. Bradley growing desperate to save his sanity created "sink holes" within his brain. Pits in which he count dumb his psyche, memories and intentions and hide them from his captors, for while information is in these holes not even Bradley is aware he holds that information. For three months he planned his escape slowly earning the trust (and as some whispered friendship) of an Eldar Scorpion Warrior who was also a "guest" of the Dark Eldar and together the two escaped the ship on a void capable shuttle. After his escape Bradley refined these sink holes further using them as repositories of knowledge storing mast sum of knowledge, however this gift was not without it's flaws. In order to hide the very existence of these sink holes in his head Bradley leaves no mental marks as to which hole hides which fact. So when he dives into a hole to retrieve information it is unknown what he is remembering until it is brought to his conscious mind, it could be anything from data sheet of bank accounts, to the names of every single Inquisitorial Servant who has died under Bradley's command (something he has gone to pains to memorize so he will always remember those who have fallen) until he can shove it back into the sink hole. However an additional side effect of these sink holes is Bradley has developed a small sliver of Psychic Power. While the talent isn't powerful, small visions of the immediate future (i.e. a few minutes to a hour if he pushes his limit) Bradley has used this power to his advantage turning aside an assassin's blade or dodging a sniper's bullet at the last second.

A firm believer in "there is a time and place for everything" , Bradley despises the "might makes right" mentality displayed by many Inquisitors, instead favoring a more open minded approach, believing that each case requires a certain method to find the truth, in fact in all his years of service Bradley has only called for Exterminatus ONCE, when his investigation found that a whole planet had in fact been converted into genesteeler cult.

Any whispers that Bradley was a Heretical Inquisitor were quickly silenced when he personally killed his best friend when the Deathwatch Kill Team Xiphos brought him irrefutable proof that his life long friend had become a worshiper of Chaos.

An "open" member of the Radical Recongregationism train of thought in the Inquisition, a radical branch that believes the only way to save the Imperium from destruction is to bring about change and remove the status quo that has lead to it's stagnation, Bradley firmly believes the best way he can accomplish lasting change within the Imperium of Man is to make a change in the High Lords of Terra. Rather then have the seat of Inquisitorial Representation taken by the highest ranking member of the Inquisition in the Sol system at the time, Bradley seeks to have the seat become a permanent position, with him in it. A task he is well aware may not be done in his life time, but one he will try for until his dying breath, and a dream he will pass on to a worthy successor when one presents itself.

Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces Empty Re: Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces

Commander Autumn Noel: Commander of Bradley's personal ship, tall, lithe, and radiating authority, young looking even when one accounts for Imperial Rejuvenation technology, Commander Noel would be a Captain or maybe even an Admiral within the Imperial Navy had she not stepped on one too many toes with her disregard for accepted, tried, proven and yet PREDICTABLE strategy. In fact while she commanded the respect of many of her peers, those same many felt that her careered had hit a dead end. However by sheer accident or will of the Emperor her service record found it's way onto Bradley's deck when he was just an Acolyte and he brought her to the attention of his Master who made her the commander of their personal ship. And she stayed in Bradley's service even after his master's death. Somewhere along the way, no one knows exactly when Noel has not only become one of Bradley's most trusted advisers and confidants but also his lover.

A talented and skillful ship handler Noel runs the Alexandria with a firm yet fair hand, promoting independent and rational thinking amongst her officers Noel keeps the crew on their toes and alert for even the slightest hint of danger. She blames herself for Bradley's capture, even though it was proven that the Eldar Pirates got the drop on them do to a hiccup in the ships Auspex machine spirit, Noel has nevertheless sworn not to let something like that happen again. And as such has pushed the crew hard making them one of the best Auspex crews in the whole of the Imperial Navy.
____
In his time as an Inquisitor Bradley has understood the need for a good ship as well as good people and in his tenure 2 ships have stuck out the most

Alexandria: A Dauntless-Class Light Cruiser, the Alexandria (named after a city on Holy Terra that legend says once housed the greatest library of it's day), is perfectly suited to Bradley's needs. She is powerful able to fight anything in her weight class or below, light and fast, allowing him to get from world to world quickly as well as out run anything she can't outfight. The Alexandria's chief asset to Bradley is her versatility, her ability to fight as well as survey, and scout regions of space, finding anything of use or suspicion. What also makes the ship invaluable is how common it is in Imperial Space. Often used to solo patrols and scouting missions the Alexandria can warp into a system and pose as a routine patrol allowing Bradley to investigate a suspected world without all the pomp and ceremony that will more often then not hinder any other Inquisitors investigation. As such it is often Bradly's preferred method of transportation.

Alexandria II: A Vanguard Strike Cruiser once used by Bradley while Kill Team Xiphos was under his direct command and used to transport the Deathwatch Team all around Imperial Space. The ship was subsequently refitted, renamed "Knightmare's Triumph" and gifted as a mark of respect and gratitude to the Space Marine Chapter "Knights Camlann" after Squad Xiphos was released from Deathwatch service as it was to high profile for Bradley to use in his day to day operations.

Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces Empty Re: Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces

Note: the contents of the bracket after each entry denoted which in game model represents them.. Pics can be found in the painted pic forum.

Talbot: Magus Errant Talbot is a welcome, albeit occasionally obnoxious addition to Bradley's retinue. Welcomed because of his rather extensive knowledge of all things the Adeptus studies, obnoxious because instead of being aloof and secretive, like most of his Mechanicus Brethren, Talbot is often rather vocal about his genius, and the lost pieces of technology he has uncovered in his long years of service. However his knowledge, as well as his combat programming and the combat programming of his 3 personal Skitarii bodyguards, has proven all to useful to Bradley in spite of his ego. Although neither Bradley or any member of the Alexandria's crew could help but smile as Talbot's ego took a massive hit when Kill-Team Xiphos escorted him to recover the remains of a Titan from the Dark Age of Technology. The Titan's Cogitator was programmed to only respond to the commands of an unmodified human (not even Space Marine's could control it), as the Titan was originally built to battle Men of Iron. As such a simple human soldier from Kasrkin K Company was the only one who could operate the Titan. Something that has left Talbot a little more humble as of late.
[Talbot and his 3 Skitarii count as Crusaders]

"Bradley's Brick": Originally K Company of the Cadian 82nd Kasrkin Regiment, Bradley recruited their service after they held open an escape corridor for Kill-Team Xiphos, when the Deathwatch Marines were charged with overseeing the evacuation of a Mechanicus outpost on a world besieged by the Tau. Holding back an entire battalion of Tau forces by themselves with little in the way of support. Bold, brave, and surprising innovative in their thinking Company K, while capable and furious soldiers (even Kill-team Xiphos was impressed with their skill) they are masters of holding ground from fortifications to fox holes. K Company "Bradley's Brick" are Bradley's strong right fist when he needs muscle on the ground.
[Any model from Company K counts as a Warrior Acolyte]

Cult of Waiting Blades: An Imperial Sanctioned Death Cult the Cult of Waiting Blades is one of many assets that Bradley inherited from his mentor upon his death. The Waiting Blades are like most Death Cults, in the sense they worship the god-emperor by the slaying of his enemies, although while many death cults partake of blood drinking the Waiting Blades in stead save the blood they spill in small vials storing them in vasts vaults known only to them. The Cult of Waiting Blades, called simply 'the Blades' by Bradley is made almost entirely of woman for what reason remains to be seen, although Bradley has noted that seduction is a weapon they are not unfamiliar with. While the Blades work for many Imperial Agents, their leader, or Mistress, Ciel only takes to the field when it is Bradley who calls upon their services. Personally leading the Blades on whatever mission he requires. What Bradley has done to warrant such a privilege, like the rest of the Cult oddities, is a mystery even to Bradley but given their flawless record in not only his but his master's service, as well as their unending loyalty to the Imperium Bradley is willing not to pry.
[Counts as Death Cult Assassins]

Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces Empty Re: Lord Inquisitor Bradley and Forces

Note: Added something extra to the last post.

Kill-Team Xiphos: For an extended period of time Bradley worked with Deathwatch to contained an as of yet undisclosed threat to the Imperium. Although the threat was in the sector of Space Deathwatch operates in the main reason Bradley worked with the Militant arm of Ordo Xenos is so he could gather the more open minded and accepting of Space Marines. Given that the mission required a unified war effort of no less then 6 Space Marine Chapters it proved to be an essential quality.

Captain Agathon: Originally a Brother Sergeant, Agathon hails from the Sons of Antaeus chapter and like the rest of his Brothers Agathon was big and powerful, easily the strongest member of his kill team. He was also gifted with a brilliant mind able to adapt to any problem the team encountered and over come it with a creative and intelligent solutions as well as a well place fist. During his Vigil Agathon was promoted to Captain and was awarded command of his home chapter's 10th Company upon his return to his brothers.

Librarian Ignatius: From the Blood Angels chapter Ignatius or "Iggy" to members of his squad was a powerful, yet friendly Psyker, who was quickly promoted to Epistolary upon his joining of Deathwatch. Like many Librarians Iggy had a number of peculiar habits chief amongst them was the collecting of his fallen enemies teeth. Nevertheless Iggy returned to the Blood Angels an honored and missed brother.

Breaker of the Sanguinary Guard: Also a member of the Blood Angels Chapter, Breaker was a fearless, and valiant Assault Marine, who epitomized his chapters dual nature. Calm, polite, dignified when training or at rest, but a furious deadly swordsman in battle. He was the most skilled member of his team with a blade, and was often the first to charge head long into combat. All these traits combined received notice of Commander Dante back on Baal who honored Breaker by being making the Marine a member of the Sanguinary Guard. Because of Breakers valiant charges he was often the most wounded of his team and when they final battle against the Great Threat was ended Breaker was entombed within a mighty Dreadnought where he still serves to this day.

Ryze "the Long Dragon": The ideal Salamander Ryze was Xiphos' heavy weapons expert. A master of the heavy bolter Ryze favored dragon fire rounds that in essence turned his bolter into a long range flame thrower. Stubborn, set in his own ways, yet loyal to his team and the ideals of his chapter Ryze was a valued member of the team whose steady stream of fire saved the Kill-Team more then once. While not an inspirational leader Ryze was still capable and thus served as Agathons second when the Captain was away on special assignment from Bradley. Upon his return to the Salamanders Ryze was made a Sergeant of one of the 1st Companies Sternguard Squads.

Balthor "the Scorning Medic": The teams medic, Balthor hailed from the Dark Angels Second Company, and as such he is dour and taciturn, although he proves to be loyal to, if not entirely trusting, of his quad mates, as well as a rather skilled medic, and rider of all manner of bikes and speeders. Of all members of Kill-Team Xiphos he was the least compromising and open minded. Like Ryze upon his return to his Chapter Balthor is inducted into his Chapter's 1st Company and inducted into his Chapter's Dark Secrets.

Breaker was a party favored as well. Only reason he died was bad dice rolls Rolling Eyes . But he popped all his grenades and took the guy with him. Spent all his fate points to stay alive along enough to become a dreadnought.

It does actually. He kept failing his dodge and parry checks, even when i gave him a few free rerolls. His character was destined to die that day.

What the new party is looking like atm:

an Adept (who are usually the brains) played by the guy who did Agathon
a Psyker, (so many powers) played by the girl who did Iggy.
A Guardsmen, (combat class) played by the guy who did Breaker.

hopefully more to come.
