Hi brother and welcome
the BC isn't really worth his points when you have for only 25 points more the Grand Master and his skills (Grand strategy included) to find the points you can perhaps join your 2 GKSS squads in one (with the rhino) note that you can combat squad it anyway, forget the psy ammo for the stormraven (the hurricane aren't defensive weapons anymore if they have S5 shots) and the psycannon for the purifiers that are assault troops anyway.
with that spare of points you could have a GM in place of the BC even if the Libbie could be a very interesting choice in 1500 points too.
and with luck you could make your pallies, purifiers and one dread scoring too... Twisted Evil

hello brother
i would agree with aubec, the brother captain isn't worth those points. shove in castellan and then your purfiers are troops. as a result i would take out the 175points strike squad and replace with a dreadknight with either full guns or guns and greatsword? i tried one and it is so effective, whilst the strike squad quickly vanished.

Yep, the bro captian is not a good choice and with only 10 scoring bodies in the army you will have a hard time in any objective game. If you can get a G.M of any type then you can make the army work better with strategy.

I prefer the GM over the Libby every time (love the grenades and strategy) but I think in your case it is more of a necessity than a preference. You are really short on scoring bodies and 2/3 of the time that is what you will need. A GM can make either your pallies or purifiers or both scoring and like brother Aubec said if you are real lucky you could also have a scoring psyfledread on top of everything else. That would defiantely help the "troop" shortage but you are going to have to lose the Libby or a BC/Dread combo to pay for it. Sad

I know you just painted up those contemptors dreads, and they look awesome cheers so I'm sure you want to bring them both. So if you are going to keep your Libby then I would drop the BC, as already suggested, and bring some more troops to balance your list a little more. With his absence and perhaps droping warp rift or quicksilver you can duplicate your 5 man GKSS with the rhino at 175.

Other than that I think your list looks good Smile

So thanks brothers for the advice, I have decided to listen and swapped my bro cap out for a grand master with a hammer and rad grenades, it cost my psybolt on my storm raven but as Aubec pointed out , at str5 it wasn't a defensive option anyway, thanks for the help again? My list is now

Troop 5 man strike squad, 3 halberd, 1 hammer, 1 psycannon, 1 Rhino 175pts

Troop 5 man strike squad, 3 halberd, 1 hammer, 1 sword 125pts

Fast Stormraven, hurricane Bolters 235 (transport for paladins and HQ)

Heavy Dreadnought 2 x TL autocannon psybolt ammo 135

Curious as to why you gave the GM a hammer. All of your squads already have one so I don't think it really adds anything. Not to mention the sword is free and it gives him a ++3 inv save in close combat. I think he would be better off using those 5 points by bringing either a skull if you are going to be deep striking your GKSS or my preference would be Blind grenades.

Also, at some point in the future if you find that you are not using your apothecary very much you might want to trade him in. You could pick up a 6th purifier w/psycannon (which would be great for the additional shooting out of the rhino hatch) plus you could add a second psycannon to your paladin squad with some points left over for psycho grenades or other weapon upgrades. Make sure you are taking full advantage of the wound allocation rules by uniquely kiting out each of your paladins too, for example… 1 hammer, 1 sword, 1 sword w/psycannon, 1 halberd, and 1 halberd w/psycannon or MC halberd, etc.

Despite those comments, I think what you have now is a much more balanced list and I’m sure you will have fun playing it. Smile

Definitely avoid a hammer for any expensive combat monster, firstly you lose the benefits of character initiative, which for a GK also means the chance to instant kill things with your NFW before they hit back, and since you can benefit from HH reduces the need for the extra S anyway.

i agree with my brothers ... hammer for the GM isn't worth the points, and the GM just don't need it ... sword is the way, or if you love hitting the first a Halberd.
personally i gear him with a sword.

Brother duncndisorderly,

I prefer to give my GM a mastercrafted warding staff. psybolt ammo, rad, blind and psychotroke generades. this means he is very hard to kill, (2++ Invul with a reroll in combat) and provides those generades each time he assaults. Giving great utility to which ever unit he has joined. I have run him with terminators so far making them last a long time. i am going to try him with DCA's and crusaders soon...

Good luck with your battles
