1850 Crowe List

Hello Brothers! I'm currently new to the forums and the realm of 40k (I only played 3 games under 1500pts), but decided on making a purifier spam list. When I first started, I liked how castellan crowe looked (even though everyone says he's a horrible HQ); and after a lot of research and testing, I really like Purifiers and their cleansing flame.

After going through the forums (which was very helpful I might add ) I came across DonFer's 1750 pt list (https://greyknights.forumotion.com/t2568-1750-pts-crowe-list). I liked the list a lot and came up with my own variation; plus my store host tournaments at 1850:

Elites

(2) Venerable Dreadnought w/ 2 TL Autocannons w/ Psybolt Ammunition 195pts

Heavy Support

(2) Nemesis Dread Knight w/ Heavy Incinerator w/ Nemesis Greatsword 185pts

Troops

(4) Purifiers 235pts
• 6x Purifiers (2 Psycannon, NDH, 3 NFH) + Rhino

Total: 1850pts (on the dot! )

I decided to use Rhinos instead of Razorbacks because the firing points (2 psycannons) would equal the same as an assault cannon (but with one more strength); although I do lose a lot of range. I also really like the greatsword on the NDK, because regardless he hits at 6 str.

Another thing I was considering was adding techmarines into the mix. I saw on the forums that Aubec( ?) said that venerable dreadnoughts are considered to be more defensive? And it made me think about using techmarines to bolster defenses, help in cc with grenades, and repair vehicles. Maybe I could make the venerable dreads into regular dreadnoughts; remove the nemesis dread knights; and add 2 techmarines?

The reason I would call myself a defensive player, is because I usually find myself waiting for the other army to come at me and then shoot at them and then charge in after they are committed into coming into my assault range. So did you think the venerable dreads were worth their points? Thank you for any advice, tactics, or critiques.

Ven dreads are just as defensive as normal dreads (no close combat arm) but they will live longer (reroll all damage results that you dont like). So it can be said that they are better in defence as they will live longer.
If you were looking at adding the teckie I would keep the ven dreads and add one, the dread knights do not realy fit the list (I think that you are looking to use them as a counter punch unit and I just cannot see this working without a lot of pratice (without the warp jump thery are just to slow)) the extra points can then be used to bring in some more dreads in the heavy slots and turning some of the rhinos into razors.
Try some games with the current list and see what you come up with, do not just change after one or 2 games as it could have just been dice rolls.

looks great, i might consider something like this for my own list as well.

Currently i don't have the ven dreads, but i do have a landraider and some paladins (in a 2k list). I am missing some long range firepower though, at this time i'm having to stay in cover until i get close.
