need help against xenos, brothers !
ok, this friday i'm playing a 2000 points game against Eldars.
Though i don't know what my friend will play i suspect that he'll use a lot of big guns (the one with S8), but i don't know well Eldars and i'm hesitating with my list : should i use my draigowing list or a more versatile army (with GKSS, GKIS and purifiers) ??
any tips pals ??

Vs eldar, I would prefer having more bodies/units w/ some rhinos or RB's (gives you 36-48" shooting). Not sure if you like using psyflemen dreads but they will definitely come in handy vs their wave serpents. One of the most effective way to deal w/ eldar is to nullify their mobility by taking out their transports.
One unit I would definitely have is a unit of Interceptors w/ at least 1 incinerator and maybe psybolts. They can come in handy vs. banshees, harlequins, farseers, rangers/pathfinders.
Another unit/model I think would come in handy is the Librarian so you can block powers like Doom or Fortune.
Also, I would try not to rely on psychic power boosts because he will most probably have runes of warding.

i would recommend on not playing draigowing but a mixed list instead. eldar got some weaponry that eats through paladins and those are carried by fire dragons. those guys run around with meltas. all of them. if they upgrade to a exarch they can get 1 of these upgrades:
the whole squad gains tank hunters
or the exarch(seargent) ignores your cover saves and gets reroll to wound
10 of those guys firing at a paladin unit with draigo will soon get whiped out because of all those double strenght wounds
dragons cost only 16 points a per model. so facing about 20-30 of them is not that rare
things you also have to look out for, the farseer, he can nominate a unit and grand them reroll to hit, coupled with fire dragons you can get around 8 melta instant death wounds on your pallies with just one unit shooting.
what also makes the farseer one of your number 1 priorities to kill is runes of warding. with those you have to make psychic tests with 3d6 and thats not all. if you roll 12 or above, you automatically get a perils of the warp attack. runes of warding have unlimited range.

Our Dreadnoughts Reinforced Aegis will also come in handy against doom, eldrich storm and mind war.
With Doom he gets rerolls to wound against your unit; Eldrich Storm is a weak, large blast shooting attack; Mind War is similar to a psyhic hood, just you take wounds for losing.
I also agree with Master Riven, in regards to the librarian and not relying on your own psyhic powers.
A vindicare would help take out the farseer quickly (thus getting rid of the runes of warding, you take tests on 3d6), by getting rid of his inv. save (his only save ). Then let rip with a few psycannons, just need to get him to assign one wound to the farseer and the Emporer's work is done.

hi : the dust went down, we finished at 2 in the morning and we finished with a draw which is not a bad result imho.
the scenario : grab and hold (the 2 bases : you have to catch the ennemy base while he's trying to do the same)
deployment : the one that uses opposed quarters with an empty circle zone of 12" in the center.

he win the toss and i wasn't able to size the initiative ...
the board was with the DA stronghold in the middle and divided in 4 parts he placed all his units in the upper right part with a stronghold he made his base and a forrest near the limit of the board. he placed his reapers and 1 unit of ranger in the stronghold the prisme on his right, 2 the wave serpents on the left one with jain zar and company the other with the firedragons on left the the serpents in a forrest he put his gaurdians and in every place between his vehicles (the place was tight !! )
i put 1 unit of GKSS in the trench (nearly the only thing that was protective in my side !!) that became my base. the LRGH (with only the librarian) in the right of the trench (not in the LOS of his heavy weapons), the rhino with 1 GKSS in it just behind the LR, GKIS and GM+Termies in reserve. i used GS to make my GKIS scouts as well. and the psyfledread on the left of the fortress no in the LOS (i forgot the split my troop units ... next time i will remember the rules of my codex ! )
finally he put 6 rangers near the fortress out of LOS
He moved his prisme and all his vehicles and so on and fire at my vehicles dread, rhino and LR .... and ... NOTHING !! i was lucky enough to avoid any damage and to my surprise he seemed to play very defensively
so i played very agressively : i moved all i had except the base-camping unit (that did nothing in the battle) dread on the left of the fortress and LR and rhino on the right : i shoot the prisme with the LR and The 2 psycannons in the rhino ... and it's the ultimate psycannon shoot that destroy the prisme !!
the psyfledread immobilized 1 serpent.
Questions :
1 / can i use fortitude against every dammage taken or only against 1 every turn ?
2 / can the librarian uses his power inside a vehicle ? inside a vehicle with ports ?

i pushed my advantage, and decided to risk a DS for my GM and termies, near the end of the board (8" !! ) and made a Hit !!

i shoot the wrong unit (the guardians instead of the firedragons) and bad luck i killed them all with the cinnie and the SB ... so i coudln't charge them with the GM and termies i shoot the firedragons killed 4 but they stayed
after that my GKIS and termies were the priority target of the reapers the firedragons and everything else : he reaped off my GKIS and divided by 2 (i was lucky) the termies
his banshees with jain zar and rangers shot at the libbie that survived with 1 PV left (i forgot the stave !! ) the battle was on its edge and my camping unit was in a cruise with the Pacific Princess, drinking cocktail with Goffer during the slaught of they brethen !!
i used vortex with the libbie on the banshees and destroy them nearly what was left is Jain Zar and 2 banshees I charged them manage to hit in the same velocity (quicksilver) and killed the remaining Banshees except Jain ZAr that killed the libbie and moved to my GM. may dread destroyed the rangers left and get the direction of the wraith Lord that had lost 1 PV the previous turn by a sure shot of the dread.
when my GM destroyed the firedragons he was attacked by Jain zar and he had just 1 PV left, and finally get down, but that was the 5th turn and he couldn't get to my base.
a 6th was rolled and i manage to shoot to his Wraithlord and charge him with the dread that survived to a 6th eldar shooting phase !!
and destroy him
i repaired the immobilized rhino that could get to its SB range.
with all that was left of my army i shoot the rangers and reapers in his stronghold hoping he'll loos some cover saves and moral roll but he didn't ... so i was a draw !!

Most of these questions have been answered in another thread Aubec, fortitude removes ALL (eligible) effects on the vehicle at the time of use, you can use powers on yourself or your vehicle, like shrouding, or sanctuary, however you can only use shooting powers if there is a hatch/shooting point, and you haven't moved over 6". I also beleive you can use passive powers on nearby friendly units, if you have any (from what I know of Eldar) even without LoS (due to being embarked).
When flanking you enter the table and are able to move, shoot and assault normally according to the rules of the model/vehicle.
