2000 points of SW

today i had been challanged by a new guy at our GW store. He ask for a 2000 points match tomorrow. All i know is that he plays SM. It´s a shame, that my two LR Redeemer for my SW are still in their boxes under my desk.

I have written two list. Which one do you guys like more?

1. List:

Njal Stormcaller: Terminator Armour (joins Wolf Guard)
Wolf Priest: Wolf Tooth Necklace (joins Blood Claws)

Wolf Guard Pack: 4 WG in TDA, 2x Thunderhammer/Stormshield, 2x Wolfclaw pairs
Land Raider

Grey Hunter Pack 1: 10 GH, 2x Melta, PF
Grey Hunter Pack 2: 10 GH, 2x Plasmagun, PF, Rhino
Blood Claw Pack: 15 BC, 2x Flamer, PW

Land Raider (Grey Hunter Pack 1)
Land Raider Crusader: Multi Melta (Blood Claw Pack)

I guess three LR are an unexpected and extremly nasty surprise. It doesn´t matter what kind of mission we will play, my mission object will be total annihilation.


2. List:

Wolf Priest: Jumppack (joins Sky Claws)

Grey Hunter Pack 1: 10 GH, 2x Melta, PF
Grey Hunter Pack 2: 10 GH, 2x Plasmagun, PF, Rhino
Blood Claw Pack: 14 BC, Flamer, PW

Sky Claw Pack: 10 SC, PW

Long Fang Pack: 6 LF, 3 Plasma Cannons, 2 Laser Cannons

Land Raider (Grey Hunter Pack 1)
Land Raider Crusader: Multi Melta (Blood Claw Pack)

I know not very suptile, but more models and more fire power. Again i will go for total annihilation, other mission objects are only of minor priority.

My tactic is clear. I wanna bring my packs as fast as possible in weapon range to unleash a hail of fire. In the first round i will concentrate my heavy weapon fire on my opponent´s vehicles. In round two i will take out two of his units with concentrated fire. In round three i will be in CC. After the fourth round it will be hopefully over.

Both lists are interesting but I think I like the first list more. I prefer the WG pack and LR instead of the SC pack and LF. Just my two cents...

Just like Raven925 says, why worry about objectives when you can just kill everything on the board. I like it

Love the 'I don't care what the mission objective is'. I too like list 1 though I like the variety in 2. Three plasma cannons, very nasty.

besides with the FL you can switch 1 part of the unit to fire another objective...
but my way of playing is more list 1

Ok, the battle is over and i have lost. I had uses the 2. list. It had been a good choise cause my opponent had used a mostly infantry list. My problem was bad dice luck. It´s not funny to loose 3 Plasma Cannons and 2 Plasmaguns to "gets hot" and one LR became immobile. AND THAT`S ALL IN MY FIRST ROUND. . The rest of the game went not much better. At the end i lost with 6 to 9 kill points.

Looks like your wolves will have their tails between their legs until they can redeem themselves in their next game

I hope you were able to have fun despite the loss, 6-9 isn't that terrible really.

Thats why I greatly dislike LR's of all forms.
They are acceptable for GK cause we have nothing else, but the meta game is too based around anti tank for me to feel they really offer anything better than the target saturation rhinos or other cheaper vehicles can provide, at a fraction (literally) of the price!

You also find that people specifically build armies (even their all comers lists) to take out this kind of opponent because it was considered particularly fearsome before the metagame adapted and people naturally tend to tailor to some extent to make sure they won't get wiped out facing AV 14.
