some questions about imperial armor
In an amazing an unexpected hit of luck, an uncle who lives in Europe send me as a surprise gift the imperial armor volume II book, forces of the inquisition!
the book is awesome, and has lots of rules for tanks, speeders, thunderhawks...
and, as always, with a new book, new questions arrives...
-are all those tanks variants legal in regular games?
-the land raider prometheus apperas as a transport option for Inquisition forces... is that true?
-the chimera is allowed to have an autocannon?
-the book says that a thunderhawk has armor 12... how could this be possible? is a rule I did not notice?

Re: some questions about imperial armor
1. All the tank varients and other stuff is sort of half legal. You need to ask your opponent before the battle if you can use it, like specail characters, and you absolutly cannot use them in proper tournaments (unless specified but I don't think that's gonna happen)
2. If the land raider prometheus appears in the transport options, then you can use it...if you have your oppenants consent. There are bound to be lots of inquisitors over the years so a few of them may have requesitioned a prometheus now and again.
3. The Chimera can have an autocannon...but again, you'll need your opponents consent.
4. If the thunderhawk has armour 12, then it has armour 12. Its not ment for a full on assault, the Imperium has stuff that will do that much better, I think it should be used for rapid insertions/extractions and then fly off as fast as it can. Or fast "bombing runs" with the Main Cannon it has.(What are the stats for that anyway?)
I don't have the book, so bear with me on this, there maybe is a special rule for the 'Hawk, most likely the skimmer rule, so if it moves more than 6, you can only get glancing hits on it, but I don't really know.

Man, that must be some cool uncle you have. Either he pays attention to what hobbies and interests you have or he's willing to take others advice on what to buy you. I don't know about Europe but here in Canada you just don't walk in to the local game store and pick up Forge World stuff at your leisure. It's a hassle to get.
As B-C Validi said, it'll all come down to opponent consent. You should have no problems in Apocalypse games though. That's where everybody likes to pull out the big semi-legal toys to play with. At least in my club they do.

Tactics: All good in theory, all gone to hell in practice.
Re: some questions about imperial armor
A flyer with multiple structure points and armour 12 is good for flyers.
Really good as they will be super heavies.

Re: some questions about imperial armor
If he's using the Forgeworld rules then I don't think it will have Structure Points, but the Apocalype rules for it may well do so. It's the same way the Forgeworld rules Baneblade is less powerfull than the Apocalyse rules, the forgeworld rules are intended for slightly smaller games (I guess). Not sure if all thats correct, I'm not really an expert at this.
What are the rules for the Forgeworld ThunderHawk and the Apocalyse rules for the Thunderhawk? (if there are different rules for them)
Also, what are the rules for flyers and super heavies?

Get the apocalypse book, worth the buy!
Let's see.
It's forbidden due too gw copywriting to write rules here right?
I would have put apoc thunderbird up if it wasn't for the fact the book is inside my car.

Re: some questions about imperial armor
well, my uncle is the same one who send me my firts He-Man action figures, and later, my first box of bretonnian Knights of the Realm...
I tell him about the marines and the inquisition in 40k, and he ask me if I want some new models, but I have plenty, and I say 'well, maybe something from forge world, but is too expensive, so, just forget it'... and then, he send me the book...
about rules... maybe we have to ask firts....

Re: some questions about imperial armor
Just to annoy people, I have the IA Apocalypse book.
It is pretty sweet.
Unfortunately it is also illegal as I found it online in PDF format, as it the IA 1, IA 2 and IA 3 PDF's I also have.

Re: some questions about imperial armor
Nope, we have to pay for them much the same as everyone else, just at a discount, but we do get a free White Dwarf each month.

PDF????
what kind of person get books on PDF???
you can't read a pdf book in your bed, nor in the toilet, and you can't take it to your hobby center to show it to your friends, and you can't use it in a game... and is very difficult to read on screen, and if you want to print it out, looks awful, and, at least here, cost even MORE than the original one...
I don't know about you guys, but I choose to wait and get REAL books...
PDF are useful forsome small books, experimental or a few new rules, and fanzines.

Guess I should also put that I own a laptop and the PDF are full size a4 scans?
Plus a friend of mine can print it out for me for free.
Sorry to steal you thunder on that one SIRSEAN.
Re: some questions about imperial armor
it was just my opinion, brother...
and the rules remain illegal... and is fine to me, becasue I read some stuff for the chaos armys, and is even more scary (as always) than the marines...

PDF ? the inquisition deny the existance of such heresy
but between us loyal members of the ordo malus .
I fully suport that books are better but ther are some situation that pdf are a nesesery evil.
Try befor you buy , befor spending 30+ $ on a new book only to find out thers nothing you can use in it or you find out you just dont want to play that army after all , get a good read up on the book befor making the investmeny.
Knolege is power , best way to know what your enemy can do is to know what they know , in the same maner if your opponent has an unclear grasp of the rules or wors dilibretly cheeting , you know what his codex sais.
unevalebility of some books. namly the forge world books are next to imposible to get in some places , see try befor you buy
lost knolage , somany old books are now lost to us , so much fluff unread , not to mention thies books are falling apart , with pdf we can now pass this books on to the next generation.
for the pro book , beyond income to GW , books are infinitly more portable , you wont wreck your eyes trying to read a badly scand paragraph, no suplemantal hardwear needed to read a book beyond a lightsource .
back on topic , i say apocalyps replaces forgeworld rules and if no proper sheet is avaleble , we should agree on new ones.
