Dawn of War II
Yes!!! It's officialy underway and the graphics look brilliant, the Blood Ravens are fighting Orks, destroyed tanks leave wreakage, there's more blood and it unsurprisingly looks like Company of Heroes (same developer for Dow and CoH (Relic if you don't know)) so be prepared for THE UTMOST AWESOMENESS!!!

Company of heroes?
If it is like that it will be really cool.
Destroying buildings, making outposts, fighting like crazy.
Awesomeness!

It uses the CoH engine with a few changes so it should have most of the same stuff.
Hey Praexes, do you have Opposing Fronts or regular CoH ( just so you know, I have both)

I only have regular CoH: but I can still play online with the people who have Opposing Fronts. Relic made the patch non-independant: you don't need to upgrade just to play online on the main servers.
I play mostly Axis, and play mostly with a guy called Ciaphas in CoH. If you ever see me, or him, add us to your buddy list.

I don't think my laptop will be able to cope with the graphics on DOW 2. It's having a bad enough time with dark crusade!

Re: Dawn of War II
It is a British army FV432 tank they are using. It weighs 15.3 tons and is designed to carry twelve troops.
So I hear the first major hurdle they hit was the difference in roof line and rear arches FV432 and the Rhino, FV432 has a square back with a side opening rear door, whereas the Rhino features a top opening drawbridge style rear door and sharp angled rear arches.
To overcome this problem they cut and extended the FV432’s roofline using steel from other armoured vehicles as well as slicing and re-welding the rear corners to transform the vehicle shape.
Here are some pics.

Very good run-down of the Multiplayer aspect of the game from a Relic Forums person.

Man, Eldar are overpowered in this beta. Their suppression unit is just too cheap, and they can churn out walker, avatar, prism in short order. I love my SM but you really got to coordinate well with them.

Re: Dawn of War II
Yeah, I agree about the Eldar. I've been playing mostly Marines and Nids, and so far so long as you're playing a team game, not a 1v1, the eldar are less lethal, I've noticed. But the Shruiken Cannon + Banshee rush in 1v1 is brutal. Basically nothing you have at tier 1 can counter it.

Re: Dawn of War II
Hey guys I bought the Dawn of War 2 game a couple of days ago and the campaign setting is so cool, its so much more story driven than the last game. One of the best features that I just LOVE is that each of your veteran sergeants have their own voice and personality, listening to them talk and argue with each other during and off mission is awesome. (especially those funny moments)

Is anyone still playing? Overall I was kind of disappointed by the Multiplayer aspect of it... Single player was incredibly epic, though.

I was going to try the demo for dow 2. But my computer said *GRRRNKK... Don't!!!* And as such i couldn't play it.
But all i've heard of it (most anyways) is that it's somewhat ok gameplay, but everything sucks, except for the broken things.
And tyranid termagaunts wasn't swarm...... i was like? ???!
And then i've never bothered with it again.

Re: Dawn of War II
I'm inclined to agree with you Inquisitor Lord.
I just played a few of the single player missions at a friend's house and was not a big fan
The graphics are fantastic, but that is unfortunatly not enough to cover the games short commings.
I was dissapointed with
*the small amount of troops/squads at your disposal.
*How easy the levels and "bosses" were to defeat.
*and the lack of mini movies or story line stuff involved.
The earlier games required strategy and had a sence of urgency to them when you were deploying or moving. From what I experienced of DOW 2 I could just stroll though the level killing stuff and regenerate my characters everytime they fell.
Maybe the game gets better the further in you get, or it is a different story in the multi-player format but in general I was dissapointed
