Fifth Battle - VS 1750 IG mechanized

Probably had my most enjoyable game so far. My opponent was a very professional and amiable player. I don't recall ever facing this much armor ever and it was definitely very challenging. I was able to take several pictures so I'll insert them as needed to provide some visuals...

HQ - GM Rivan w/ pyscannon, m-c nfw, pyschic hood, sacred incense & hammerhand + 3 GKTs (1 psycannon)
ELITES - BC Olorin w/ psycannon + 3 GKTs (1 psycannon), squad has holocaust
TR - 6 x PAGKs (targeter) (Squad Armael)
TR - 6 x PAGKs (targeter, incinerator, melta bombs) (Squad Raguiel)
TR - 6 x PAGKs (incinerator, melta bombs) (Squad Uriel)
HS - Sanctus Fidelis w/ EA, DB & SL (painted LR)
HS - Draco Tempestus w/ EA, DB & SL (unpainted LR)
Total: 26 infantry, 2 heavy tanks

Mission was Capture and Control and deployment was Spearhead. The terrain set up is below...the lower right hand corner was my deployment area and you can see the 2 objectives in each of our zones:

My opponent got first turn and deployed as follows...

As you can see from my opponent's deployment, only my LR's can fire with any effect. I already knew I'd have to get up close and personal to get my infantry into play. However, I was wary of his 2 vendettas that were still in reserve and can come in any time starting the 2nd turn, AND from possibly either side edge. The first few turns were spent moving and positioning with a few battle cannon and lascannon shots traded. By the end of Turn 2, 1 leman russ was destroyed by D.T. and I had lost one GKT from Squad Olorin.

The excitement escalated in Turn 3 when one of the vendettas came in. Luckily for me, it outflanked from the far side edge (whew!) and was 1" short of lascannon range to S.F.

On my turn, I moved both LR's slightly forward and Squad Raguiel disembarked in front of the leman russ punisher.

D.T. took a bead at the vendetta and blew it out of the sky, simultaneously killing 7 of the 10 veteran guardsmen below it S.F. immobilized the nearby leman russ while Squad Raguiel assaulted the leman russ punisher and destroyed it. On Turn 4, the second vendetta came in right behind S.F. and disembarked its veteran squad. I thought, oh boy, this it it...The 3 melta gunners took aim, hit once and penetrated but only managed to shake S.F!!! (the emperor was definitely watching!). Meanwhile, the vendetta fired 3 TWLLC at D.T. and hit twice but did not penetrate at all My opponent knew he had his chance. On my turn, Rivan & retinue charged the veterans and killed 8 of 10. The last 2 fell back. S.F. moved at cruising speed over the leman russ punisher wreck and fired one LC at the vendetta and blew it out of the sky as well. Meanwhile, Squad Raguiel moved over to the immobilized leman russ and all but turned it into a sitting wreck by destroying both weapons LOL.

My only goal now is to speed over to his objective and try and contest it and hope the game lasts more than 5 turns. S.F. moved at cruising speed over terrain and stunned one of the chimeras. For D.T., I seriously considered going diagonally over terrain and ramming one of the chimeras near his objective. But I figured I would still be too far if the game ended right there. It'll be up to S.F. if at all so D.T. just destroyed the chimera right beside it to squash any possibility of it speeding up to contest my objective if the game continued. Squad Uriel had disembarked from D.T. and destroyed the last leman russ while Squad Raguiel moved over to the chimera sitting in terrain and destroyed their 3rd tank! 5 of the battle psykers were killed and the rest were pinned.

On a special note, you guys are probably wondering what the battle psykers did the whole game. Well, the answer is NOTHING! They successfully passed 4 psychic tests to unleash a str 9 ordnance attack but Rivan shut them down each time with the pyschic hood woo hoo!!!!
At the end of Turn 5, my opponent rolled a 2, ending the game in a draw. Although my opponent graciously gave me the win stating that he had nothing left to stop any of my units, specially the land raiders and that if a turn 6 was played, S.F. would definitely make it to his objective. I thanked him for his professionalism but mentioned that's the way the dice fell. It was an official draw but it was also one of the best games I had the pleasure of playing.

Amazing game Brother Rivan! Sounded very challenging; that army list makes me cringe...so much ARMOR

The inclusion of pictures was another sweet deal; always helps a lot. I like all the ruins and such. Another glorious battle for the Grey Knights, love reading your batreps!

And that's the name of the game, eh? Having fun. Nicely done Rivan. I sure wish my lascannons (or should I say dice rolls for them) would be as effective as yours seem to be. Taking on all that armor was no mean feat.

@Nemesisforce: Ironically, it was my PAGKs that destroyed 3 of the 4 leman russes plus a chimera while the LR's took out the lighter armored vendettas LOL. Although D.T. did take out 1 leman russ and 1 chimera.
