Second Battle - VS 2000pts Crimson Fists

Okay, here's the classic paint-ball match b/w my GK's and N00bk1ng's Crimson Fists. We had a great game and had a lot of fun

N00bk1ng’s 2000 pt Crimson Fist list:

Grey Knights won first turn and chose to deploy in the south-west quadrant of the board, giving the Crimson Fists the north-east quadrant. Squad Raguiel is embarked in Sanctus Fidelis and Squad Uriel is embarked in Draco Tempestus.
Crimson Fists tactical squads are embarked in both the rhino and the LR.

The models on one corner w/ the drop pods are deep striking...and that's n00bk1ng w/ the thumbs up

Turn 1
D.T. moves 6” forward and fires at the LR, failing to penetrate. Squad Olorin spreads out in front of D.T. and fires on the bike squad and downs 1. S.F. moves 6” and sits on terrain and fires on the LR but fails to penetrate also. Obiareius moves forward and fires on the LR and misses completely. Rivan to Obiareius: “OB, how can you miss!?! You have a TWLLC!”
n00bk1ng’s LR and rhino move forward to sit right behind terrain. Squad disembarks from rhino. The LR fires at D.T. and penetrates. However, BC Olorin steps in and deflects the blast! The TFC fires on D.T. w/ subterranean rounds hoping it would scatter onto squad Olorin but all the shots were dead on, doing no harm. The scout bikers turbo-boost around terrain. Drop pod lands in front of S.F. and disgorges a dreadnought that quickly takes aim, shoots w/ its multi-melta, hits!!!...and (rolling a 1 & 2) fails to penetrate at point-blank range.
Obiareius says to himself: “Am I glad I’m not the only dread on the field that sucks…”

End of Turn 1: Grey Knights – 0 Crimson Fists – 0

Turn 2
S.F. moves to face the bikers. Squad Raguiel disembarks from the front ramp. Squad Raguiel and Squad Olorin both unleash on the bikers and downs 2 with a fusillade of paint-bolts! Rivan crossed terrain towards the dreadnought but their psycannons do nothing. S.F. fires on the LR and manages to shake it. D.T. fires on the LR but fails to penetrate again. Obiareius crosses terrain and fires on the drop pod and misses…again! Rivan: “What the @#$!…” OB: “Shut up Rivan, just shut up!” Rivan, S.F. and Obiareius all take hits from cluster mines that the scouts planted and 1 GKT gets knocked out. Squad Raguiel charges the remaining biker and dispatches him and consolidates back towards S.F. Rivan, his hands crackling w/ energy, charges the dreadnought and punches right through the hull and rips it apart! (well, actually, he just slapped so much paint on the guy that he’s considered destroyed ). Obiareius charges the drop pod and destroys it. Sergeant Raziel to Rivan: “Well, at least OB destroyed the drop pod.” Rivan: “Well DUH…it’s not as if the drop pod could have dodged could it?”
N00bk1ng rolls for GKT deep strike and gets a 1. He rolls for the Sterguard’s drop pod and gets a 2. His tactical squad enters terrain. The LR shoots with one lascannon and penetrates D.T. This time, squad Olorin wasn’t able to stop the blast and D.T. is immobilized. The TFC fires on S.F. and one round actually scatters onto Squad Raguiel but none were hurt.

End of Turn 2: Grey Knights – 3 Crimson Fists – 0

Turn 3
Squad Raguiel embarks in S.F. Squad Armael moves around the terrain. Rivan and retinue position behind Obiareius. D.T. fires on the LR and penetrates this time, immobilizing it. The POTMS fires the HB on the tactical squad but they shrug it off. S.F. fires on the LR but does nothing. Squad Olorin fires psycannons on the tactical squad and downs 1.
N00bk1ng rolls for GKT deep strike and gets a 3. However, he gets a 1 for the drop pod. The GKT’s appear directly behind Rivan near the board edge. They fire on Rivan and retinue but does nothing. BC to his sergeant: “Sergeant, remind me to squash that good for nothing tech-adept at the teleport console…I think we’re screwed.”

End of Turn 3: Grey Knight – 3 Crimson Fists – 0

Turn 4
Squad Armael moves around terrain right behind D.T. Rivan turns around and moves towards the GKT’s. S.F backs up and turns to face the GKT’s. Squad Raguiel disembarks from front ramp.
BC of GKT unit: “We are soooo dead…”

Squad Armael, Squad Raguiel, S.F, and Rivan all fire on the GKT’s and after the smoke clears, only the BC was standing. Rivan charges (over the cluster mines again) and dispatches the BC. Sergeant Raziel: “Can’t believe we went over the mines again…”
Meanwhile, Olorin downs another space marine from the tactical squad while D.T. does nothing to the LR…again. Obiarieus, after missing again, was ever so glad that Rivan was preoccupied…
N00bk1ng rolls for the drop pod and rolls a 4 this time. The drop pod lands near the center terrain and just north of Squad Olorin. The rhino speeds towards Obiarieus. The sternguard veterans jump out, splitting into 2 combat squads with Pedro and Kor’sarro leading one squad each. The melta gunner takes aim at D.T., fires and hits!...and (rolls a 3 and 1) fails to penetrate as well.
The rest all fire at nearby GK’s or GKT’s and down one GKT from squad Olorin.

End of Turn 4: Grey Knights – 4 Crimson Fists – 0

Turn 5
Squad Olorin moves towards Kor’sarro and company. Squad Uriel (after playing poker for 4 turns) disembarks in front of D.T. Squad Armael moves toward Kor’sarro’s squad as well. Rivan crosses terrain towards Pedro and company. Sergeant Raziel shakes his head: “This is insane! That’s the 3rd time we triggered those mines!!!” S.F. pivots and lines up on the sternguard veterans. Squad Raguiel moves towards the sternguard veterans also. Obiareius moves toward the rhino. Everybody except OB fires on the two sternguard squads and Rivan assaults Pedro while Squad Olorin and Uriel assault Kor’sarro. The sternguard veterans, along with Pedro and Kor’sarro, go down to the last man. OB not only misses the rhino w/ his TWLLC but also fails to hit it in assault (he needed 6’s after all). Rivan: “OB, I can’t believe…” OB: “Rivan, finish that sentence and I swear I’ll stick that halberd up where the sun don’t shine!”

After the drill…
Rivan: “Hey OB, Chaplain Durendin is looking for some help with renovations to our library on Titan and I was wondering if you’d be interested.”
OB: “Har, har, very funny Rivan, very funny…”
Rivan: “What makes you think I’m joking?”

Post game assessment: My strategy was pretty much dictated for me since I knew (simply by how N00bk1ng's army is structured) that he will have to come to me. My best bet was to keep all my units close together so they can provide mutual support as well as concentrate firepower. What really helped me out was Brother noobk1ng's pretty unlucky rolls. The fact that his reserves came in late and separately allowed me to take his units one at a time. And there's of course the 2 multi-melta faillures. That could have really turned the game so I count myself pretty lucky. Then again, my dreadnought managed a 100% miss batting average (he his busy helping Chaplain Durendin with the new wing for Titan's library as this report is being filed)

Awesome batrep and sounds like a very rewarding game, despite some bad rolls!

I know this may sound cliched, but I feel it is time for a microwave Dice Purge... I'll need it baaadly... Second note, Go Fistwing...

It was a great game even with the craptastic(my side probably?) rolls, if reflecting on this, Bring twice the amount of Sternies and Bring Dual Podding Dreads and to drop the raider and thundy-cannon for more points... Curse my rotten luck...

I can just picture OB trying to shelve books with his close combat arm. Great batrep and with humor to boot. Again, how you can remember each move/shot is beyond me though. Good to see a pic of a fellow brother as well. That store seemed pretty darn crowded.

Well, there are only 3 stores in Singapore(all LGS) of which, you can only play at 2 of the stores, the other store, would be near my school, but would be far(sort of) from Rivan's Ship.

Yea good to see so many people gaming, its rare for it to be like that here, even in the city store except for tournies or special events!

I think I also need to mention that the other table was occupied by WHFB players, we were using the "emergency-pull-out-table" to play
