Post by For the Emperor Sun May 31, 2009 5:09 am

I had this great oppurtunity to goto a doubles tournament this year and after nemesis force's Battle Report (great report mate) on a tournament I thought I'd do mine too!

This was my second Tournament - The last one I lost all the games with my friend and got a sportsmanship award! I decided to follow up the Inquisitor Lord with Flamey Retinue inside a rhino and stick in some Shiny Gk's to back him up.

My partner you could easily say was a rookie (no older than 13) so I quickly went through his army with him and pointed out Missile Launchers rock!
Heres the Doubles list:
Inquisitor Lord
Incinerator, Hammerhand
Familiar, Mystic (2)
Warrior (3) - Flamer (3)
Acolyte (3) - Bolter-flamer (3)
Rhino, Smokes, Extra Armour

Grey Knights (9)

Captain
Power Weapon, Storm Bolter, Artificer armour

SM Squad (5)
Sergeant - Plasma Pistol + 4 Space Marines

Devestator Squad (5)
3 Missile Launcher
1 Plasma Cannon
Sergeant + 4 marines

Thunderfire Cannon

The missions were Ahniliation + D6 for deployment. The score you came out with was equal to how many kill points you scored (nothing else was considered) 4x4 boards

Game 1
Dawn Of war
2 carnifex Various Upgrades, 2-3 Genestealer squads (high number), 2 hormagaunt squads (high number), Ravener, Zoanthropes (warp blast), 3 warriors various guns.
We were vs. Tyranids (both Tyranid) They rolled highest and set-up and went first.
They deployed in a huge line across the whole board. With equal half on each side.
I decided to take command of set-up and convinced my partner to deploy on the right hand side of the table towards the back in a very small peice of scenery! He fortified it and had the Thunderfire Cannon facing towards the left corner. Devestator squad on the terrain and the SM squad Taking cover behind. My Grey Knights joined the Captain and deployed behind a hill on the right flank also behind a Rhino w/Inquisitor Lord.

They moved Towards us. All enemy weapons were out of range.

I went through mitigating fire on the correct enemy units. We killed quite alot. At least 9 Genestealers from one squad, about 7 Hormagaunts and about 4-5 other hormagaunts. With all our long range fire power. The grey Knights were on the hill/behind it with the Rhino Ready to pounce. The Devestator Squad shot a Genestealer squad on the left flank killing them all.

They moved towards us again Firing various Weapons killing nothing but a GK with warp blast. The Ravener Deepstriked but was out of assault range near the SM tactical squad.

I moved my Rhino from behind the hill to allow the Inquisitor and Retinue to finish off the remaining genestealer and 3 hormagaunts - The genestealer survived! LOL. The Grey Knight followed behind and oponed up on the Zoanthrope causing no harm.
The Devestator Squad put the Carnifex on the right side down to two wounds. The ThunderfireCannon killed the remaining Hormagaunts on the left flank. The SM squad rapid fired the Ravener killing it.

They moved there left flank forward more the carnifex opened up on the thunderfire cannon causing no harm. His warriors Moved through dangerous terrain causing 2 wounds to his squad, which oponed up on the devestator squad causing no harm. The Carnifex and genestealer charged the Inquisitor Lord seeing the Weak flesh. The zoanthrope opened up on the GK's killing 1 more. The hormagaunts on the left flank witnessing the firework display without being harmed charged the Devestator Squad, Killing two (Plasma Cannon + sergeant), The remaining marines Belowed for the emperor and layed there revenge on the 3 hormagaunts killing them. The Inquisitor Lord lost one or two comrades, Killing the genestealer but causing no wounds on the Carnifex.

The Grey Knights and Captain charged the Carnifex. The Thunderfire Cannon Opened up on the Genestealers killing 2-4. The Missile Launchers Fired at the Carnifex on the left flank causing a wound. The Inquisitor Lord swirling his arms around his body like a windmill and caused no wounds to the Carnifex. The captain on the other hand walks upto it and tells it to sit, getting two six's to wound, killing the Carnifex! Thundefire Cannon killed genestealers leaving 3-4.

They moved forward again getting closer each time, the carnifex opened up on the Thunderfire Cannon, Again causing no damage. The zoanthrope moved away and shot at the GK's killing 2 more.

Finished off the zoanthrope and caused two wounds on the carnifex. Thuerfire Cannon finished the genestealer squad.

Moved forward more, caused little damage.

Finished Carnifex off. Caused wounds on warriors.

Moved warriors forward.

Killed remaining warriors.

Earned 10 Kill points. Enemy - 0 kill points. cheers

I'll do the next game later on. Imperial Guard + Eldar Vs. Space Marine + Daemonhunter.

Congrats on the shut-out. cheers Nothing like a good dose of massed firepower on horde armies and you really seemed on the ball on how to allocate it. I wish somebody here in my neck of the woods would put on a doubles tournie. How many points each was your armies and were you able to pick your partner or was it random?

Thanks! The doubles was 500 each, 1 Troop and 1 HQ we were told to be the standard template for your army.
I chose my partner as a Night Lords, but he couldn't make it to the tournament. Instead I went there and our GW manager decided to roll a D6 for who will double up. Obviously orks were with orks and space marines were with the Daemonhunters Emperor knows it (not the dice gods).

Perhaps you could ask your Local Games Workshop to Organise an event.

There was also a big apocalypse between Leicester and Stoke - I don't think Leicester turned out many people unfortunately so I was tempted to kill all the blasphemous Daemons and Chaos in stoke! lol.

Awesome win there FTE! Congratulations cheers

I remember sometime back teaming up w/ my son vs. tyranids. I fielded a 1500 pt GK army and my son fielded 1500 of SM. Our opponent fielded 3000 pts of tyranids (took him a long time to set up). We wiped him out by turn 5. We went for all the synapse first and it was downhill for him after that Very Happy
