1000 point vs Tau
I'm still painting up models, but I have a 1000 point game vs a friend tomorrow (as I mentioned before)
My HQ will be a BC
I'm thinking of using my LR and Dread (since my friend mentioned he has a tank and a suit in his list)
Then 3 squads of PAGK
One of 7 PAGK, /w Incin
Two of 5, /w Incin
This is a pretty basic list obviously and should be a very rough 1k points, but I'm wondering whether to get some Termies instead of the 3rd PAGK squad as a retinue, possibly to chuck in the LR (note not a LRC)
My friend also relies heavily on strategies where I come to him, which is why I think the LR and Dread will work well, especially if my LR is loaded with Termies or PAGK, since he normally takes me apart at range
Any ideas/hints for me? When I'm not painting Ill put up a more detailed list.
Note Dread would be twlc/ml

You could go w/ the same list that Silent Requiem (B&C) posted on his thread (way of the water warrior):
Aside from the BC w/ psycannon, you have 2 6-man PAGK squads (1 incinerator each) and 2 LR's. Just fill out the remaining w/ upgrades and wargear (SL, EA etc)
I think it is an awesome list. Although you really have to make good use of terrain and LOS strategy...He'll definitely have a railgun or two.
Don't know if you have 2 LR's, if not then the dread will definitely do.
IMHO, PAGK function just as well as termies vs tau in CC...

Re: 1000 point vs Tau
Yea sadly haven't had the resources lately to get my second LR, and haven't finished painting the first anyway!
Also a fan of Silent Requiem's strat and guide, its pretty awesome, so will try and stick to it more as I get the vehicles needed.
$85 a LR is exp though (for me) so I have to save up or I can't make the sacrifice :p
Main advantage of the termies is those 2+ saves but then I would put them in the LR if I did have them, so its not like footslogging them would be the issue

True. If I remember right, Tau weapons are str5 so 2+ saves will definitely come in handy. I guess the trade off is less models if you chose to go with termies.

Most of my GKT models are in horrible shape, they where a WIP and my cat jumped onto a portable work desk they where sitting on during the night and they all came crashing down

Well, if you plan to mount them in your LR anyway, then I suggest you give them 1 or 2 incinerators (1 for the BC of course). I'm sure the tau will love that

Re: 1000 point vs Tau
I guess it really depends on how you plan to use them. I usually sit my GKT's back at maximum psycannon range and deal out long range death to infantry. If you really plan to get them into cc fast, then psycannons are probably not worth it since you'll probably only get one shot off before assault. Incinerators will probably be more cost effective.
Since it'll usually be my PAGK mounted in my LR's, I'll probably give them the incinerators (1 per squad).

Re: 1000 point vs Tau
I usually don't like DSing termies since there're too much variables I can't control. A single model DS is quite acceptable (BC or Inq w/ termie armor) and can really present problems for an opponent who wants to sit back and shoot.
If you think you can hold your line and keep control of the tempo w/ just your PAGK on the board until the termies come in, then I guess it's fine. It's definitely one way of getting 2 units into enemy territory fast (termies DS and your PAGK mounted). You just have to be prepared if your termies end up coming in late in the game...
