Codex: Imperial Agents

Post by Andarius the Red on Sun Nov 20, 2016 7:52 pm

December seems to be a big push for new models and codices for the end of the year. One is the long awaited supplement for the nine traitor legions with a fresh new look and focus for the Thousand Sons AND the demon primarch Magnus!

However another codex that should be following afterwards is the codex: Imperial Agents.

So far little information is available except that it will cover nine factions within the Imperium's war machine, including the inquisition. The real hope (for me) is that this might offer a new supplement for the Grey Knights chapter and any possible allies we can take. Maybe even new rules or formations.

Fingers crossed!

I'm surprised really, the traitor legions codex is getting HUGE attention but the Imperial Agents codex gets nothing but a whisper about what to expect in December. Very curious.

Post by Souba on Sat Nov 26, 2016 7:01 pm

well thats mostly because of the time they get released.
thousand sons preorder 26th november, release 3rd december
traitor legions preorder 3rd december, release 10th december
imperial agents preorder 10th december, release 17th december

in additon. the community has waited years for legions to come back. ever since the 3.5th edition codex people wanted their legions back. and with reason, i mean space marines get all their chapters. chaos space marines got nothing

Re: Codex: Imperial Agents

A wee bit of information has been dropped, the codex will have all three branches of the inquisition who can take forces that are apropos to their faction. IE. Malleus can take Grey Knights, Hereticus can take Sisters and Xenos can take Deathwatch, along with their personal retinues of body guards and specialists.

As for the list of nine agencies that will be available in the new codex they will be:

Inquisition (all three playable branches)
Death Watch
Grey Knights
Sisters of Battle
Officio Assassinorum
Cult Mechanicus
Adeptus Astra Telepathica
Aeronautica Imperialis
Legion of the Damned

There is also word that newer, 'smaller' formations will be available to attach said forces to existing armies or to make your own.

If we are getting inquisition back as a force option it would be interesting (and hopeful) if we get some old toys back like psy-bolt ammunition or orbital bombardment. One thing I'd like to see come back is an option from the 3rd edition codex book from ages past where you can give your opponent a squad of demons and a greater demon to use when facing Grey Knights. After all we fight demons, the only reason we'd fight the Tau, or Eldar or even the Orks is if their leaders were possessed. It added a great flavour to the fight to know that even if you killed the Ork Warboss, he'd explode and turn into a greater daemon of change and go "Well, you found me... You happy now?" before summoning pink horrors and changing the fight completely

Re: Codex: Imperial Agents

Post by Souba on Wed Dec 07, 2016 7:57 am

Okay some infos from our HQ:

Codex: Imperial Agents does not replace codex: Deathwatch and codex: Grey Knights.
there are some units of both of them available to the imperial agent book.

There will be options for new retuines for inquisitors:
Ordo Hereticus: Canoness and sisters of battle.
Ordo Xenos: Deathwatch Killteam and Corvus Blackstar
Ordo Malleus: Grey Knight Terminators and Nemesis Dreadknights.

Current Henchmen Squads stay as they are as far as i could see, warrior acolytes, Jokaero etc. still there.

if you want to play GK next to inquisition, this book is great for you.
if you think you can use the book instead of codex: grey knight in order to field all your units, you will be dissapointed.

next to the limited canoness that is available to preorder on saturday, the current metal sisters of battle models will be made to finecast now aswell. also available on saturday to preorder.

i keep you updated.

Re: Codex: Imperial Agents

Post by Andarius the Red on Sun Dec 11, 2016 8:32 am

Well some more info has dropped, Imperial Agents has a complete codex for Sisters of Battle (an updated version from the digital release) and the Inquisition. The rest of the armies present are small samples from their respective books that can be fielded as attachments. Grey Knights only have Terminators, Interceptors, Dreadknights and Landraiders but they DO get a new formation to choose from, the Daemonhunter Strike Force.

The rest of the forces seem to have enough to bring a single squad (with bells and whistles) of each army to be attached to your current force. Such as a Death Watch Kill team, an Execution force of Assassins, a Spectral Host of the Lost and Damned, etc.

The detatchment is "nothing new" though.

it has the very same bonus as our nemesis strike force with the exception that you have a minimum requirment of 1 troop(terminators) and 1 fast attack slot(interceptors) and a optional heavy support(nemesis dreadknight)

if you want to play a dreadknight next to your inquisitor you are better off just using the nemesis strike force, since the 1 HQ and 1 troop minimum requirement is more effective pointwise.

I am however curious of the sisters of battle within the codex, the new character Canoness Veridyan seems quite fascinating. Apart from having the standard layout for a canoness with a bolt pistol and power sword she has the unique ability to give herself, her unit and any friendly sisters within 12' the precision shot and precision strike ability.

That's just wow!

She is not in the Book however, her Rules are inside her Box.
For Sororitas, there are only 2 Little changes:
-Acts of Faith Last the whole turn now instead of just the phase
-there is a big formation with 1 priest and 3-10 units of arco flaggelants, crusaders and death cult assassins (in any combination) each unit has 2-10 models and they all form a massive unit (7-101 Models)
