A list without dreadknight ?

Hail brothers !

I was building a 1850pts list for an incoming battle, and I realize that before selecting an HQ, before selecting my troops... I ALWAYS select my two dreadknights with teleporter, heavy incinerator, heavy psycannon and Greatsword. Every time, every game. Because they can deal with everything : troops, tanks, monstruous characters, HQ... the can soak a lot of fire power, they can outflank... they can do everything, and on 90% of my game THEY are the most decisive unit of my army.

But it bother me : are grey knights ineffective without them ?

So this would be my philosophal question on the day month year : what would be the grey knight codex without the dreadknights ?

I feel the same way. I guess without dreadknights it becomes codex: purifiers.

I've ran all terminator lists before and while they are fun they will suffer against competitive lists.

I don't use the dreadknight. In fact the model feels ineffective and breaks too much.

I don't think the Grey Knights can function without them. I always carry max units, perhaps it's just my play style.
They carry the majority of the workload in every game I play against all type of enemies.
They are very hard to kill and can move wherever they want. The only exception is against AP 1-2 armies. Then it's not the dreadknight that suffers, it's the whole codex.

I have played 2 games with my GK since this post, the first one without dreadknights, and I won by tabling completly my opponent (and he was playing nidz).
The second one was against Tau, with DK and I lose. I charged 2 riptides with 2 DK, the first one died to the overwatch, and the second one killed the 2 riptides : they lost combat by one, failed their morale check and I wiped them from the table . Next turn the remaining DK was crippled by a bunch of crisis suits...

Next week I have a 1500pts against DA, and I will try again without DK, we'll see !
