Fortification
Aegis Defensive Line with Comm Relay - 70

Total= 1915

Fluff wise Grey Knights often park in high orbit and wait for a cue from a planet side Inquisitor before teleporting in and bringing righteous fury. So I'm trying to optimize this list for use with the Nemesis Strike Force described in the codex. The Inquisitor and his 'merry men' will set up inside the Aegis Defense Line with the Comm Relay, so I can reroll those all important reserve rolls. Servo Skulls add a level of board control by reducing my scatter distance and denying the enemy infiltration moves. The Inquisitor and the Jokaero Weaponsmith will be providing a nice chunk of long range fire support (heavy flamers are great for overwatch also), the Acolytes are there as bullet sponges, and as mid to close range fighters, while the priest makes sure no one breaks ranks and runs.

The Dreadknight and Dreadnoughts will start the game on the board with the Inquisitor so I'm not completely tabled turn one. The "Noughts will hang back and seek vehicle/elite/mc targets of opportunity. The "Knight will just run around and find whatever target needs to die that instant, as dictated by needs (try and stop it.) Everyone else will teleport in at the first available moment. The Terminators will act as body guard to the Librarian. By personal preference I'll be rolling on Divination. Once a squad lands it will seek cover and fire at the most prevalent threat before assaulting on my next turn, if possible.

I'm toying with the idea of giving the PAGKs Falchions in addition to the Daemonhammers to maximize their CC effectiveness. And I think the Libby may be better off with a Combi-Melta for some extra low AP firepower. Your thoughts brothers are always welcome.

I'm very intrigued with your list. Your troops and strategy are well though out. I may have to try out your list myself brother. However, one tweak to consider is dropping a Dreadnought and some "other" points for a second Dreadknight. Then you will have a deadly duo for your opponent to contend with.

I have given much thought to your suggestion Brother Nineteen. And I can see the virtue of it. One Dreadknight is to easy a target and will probably die before it makes it's points back. Two on the other hand the fire will be split between the two of them (making each one more likely to survive) or focused on one letting the other survive. A win/win there. Think I will give the Librarian a Combi-Melta and some Falchions for him and the Terminators to overcome their small unit size. Crunched the numbers don't have enough points for the PAGKs to get some unless I drop the last Dreadnought. Don't feel entirely comfortable with that idea, besides don't want to win combat to easily. Isn't the point to stay in it for a turn or two?

I Know my Communion Comes late Brother Rion and for that i apologize.

having Two Dreadknights is a huge flexibility I have found with my opponents unable to handle such a pair. have you given thought to combat squading the Strike squads? or perhaps you already do? and i must ask why Divination over all the other Psychic options available to us Libarians?

It is forgiven Brother Martel, the Warp keeps us all for a time.

I have indeed given combat squading a thought or two in my head. That would depend on each game as they come.

As for Divination I personally find it has the best buffs. The Primaris Power works well for increasing the effectiveness of Shooting and Close Combat. Forewarning increases survivability. Foreboding is great on the defense. Perfect timing makes cover unsafe. Precognition turns the Librarian into a massive combat beast. Misfortune helps elevates the threat of MC and opposing Terminators. Scrier's Gaze offers a level of board control. Most of this for 1 Warp Charge. Nothing's really a bad take.

Santic/Telepathy did make me think I must admit. Santic offers so many juicy buffs and lovely Movement Power, and Telepathy in my humble opinion offers the second best buffs combined with anti-just-about-everything witchfires making it a potent Lore to know especially sense 9/10 we're outnumbered. So it is one I intend to test out. Given his job though the Inquisitor will never roll on anything other then Divination. The Warband have to low a BS/WS to take anything else.

I am yet to decide what psychic powers are best against the foe. I find My Grand master Favours Telepathy while my Brother Captain and Libarians prefer the support Scantic brings.
I find that combat squads help me immensely as the combated squads support each other and often remain within 6'' of their other half for the entire game.

do you find that many Daemonhammers always useful? do the justicars wield them?

also  what is the Liber Heresis?

I hope my Questions do not bother you brother. I have been away from Holy Titan for some time now, it seems the Imperium has changed much in my absence.

It is no bother happy to answer.

As for your question of Daemonhammers. It's a yes. I've had nothing but good luck when I've used them. Plus given the build of this army heavy weapons are a hindrance more then a boon in the hands of the Grey Knights so it is wise to make the melee as powerful as reasonably possible. Do my Justicars use them? No. In case of a challenge I'd at least like for them to attempt to get a hit in before they die.

The Liber Heresis put simply says I take a leadership at the start of my turn and he Inquisitor and his unit gain either Scout, Split Fire, Fear, Counter-Attack, Hatred, each can only be used once. Hand full of points gets me a plethora of rules on command. Great for a gun line squad.

A thought came to me brothers. How effective is one lone Dreadnought at this point level? Not very, unless I missed my guess. So with that thought and the previous question as to weather or not I combat squad is occurred to me to split my Strike Squads in 2 one going for the melee the other holding back and forming makeshift fire bases. More firepower across more of the board. Now the question is 1 or 2 Hammers per melee squad?

I know you have dropped the dreadnoughts from your latest list but if you decide to re-include them a small suggestion would be to make them full gun platform (Lascannon & Missles) if all you're doing is holding them back to target AV.

If you decide to run your latest list then fair enough but I do love seeing Dreadnoughts on the table.

Never fear brother there is plenty of room for them in the 3,000 point version of this list I'm working on. I just want to settle on the 2,000 point version.

Any who I've been thinking only 1 Daemonhammer per each Strike Squad's melee detachment.

Mkay my Brothers I have a couple of list variants for your perusal/approval. Both will be following my original battle plan of Combat Squad Deep Striking ASAP, with all Psycannon squads hunkering down in cover to become ad hoc fire bases. While the other half goes on kill team duty. Only real difference between the two varaints is one uses Strikes while the other goes Purifier Spam. Preference and why please.

i would combine 4 of the 5 terminator units. so you have 1 5 man and 2 10 man units. you can still split them up with combat squads (and dont lose anything since the justicar is the same as a terminator statwise).

that way you can add a libby to one (or both) of the 10 man units. if you have something like invisibility you have a far bigger benefit out of it.

Refined the idea a little. This way it can fit as Nemesis Strike Force or Combined Arms Detachment. One group of Termies stays whole with the Librarians supporting it as a mini deathstar. While the second one combat squads and flanks.

Main reason I thought of this list is a friend challenged me to an all Termie 1850 point game against his Deathwing. He's got 20 Termies, Belial, Chaplain, and a Land Raider. Got a Land Raider myself but I'm not sure if I should bring it for battlefield maneuverability or a dreadnought for extra fire power, or even drop the Raider and Dreadnought for a pair of Dreadknights. Hmmmm firepower, melee, and mobility.......may just take those.

Nice idea with the dread knights. I think the manoeuvrability will be a big plus.
don't forget to notify us of your victory.

the list ended up being a drop of of the Aegis and Land Raider for a Storm Raven and a Libby for Draigo. And I took a second Strike Squad.

The game turned into a 1v1v1 as we picked up a third player who was new and was playing Tau. I managed to kill the Dark Angels but the firepower of the Tau wittled me away. To many losses from battling the DA. So in the end it was a hard fought tau victory. Irony was I made the Tau list for the new guy. lol
