Grey Knight Codex Wish List Empty Psilencer Proposal. Or how Id love to relax and love the gun

The basic Psilencer rules are, when all is said and done, pretty crap.

6 shots of Str 4 AP- which can only really wound or do anything if you're against daemons...


Here is what I would have the Psilencer Profile as:

Psilencer increases in potency according to the psychic might of one who wields it.
Therefore:

Psyker Mastery 1: Str 4 AP- (Terminator/Paladin/Strike/Interceptor/Purgator Squads and Inquisitors)

Psyker Mastery 2: Str 5 AP 4 Brotherhood Captains, Grand Masters, Librarian.

Psyker Mastery 3: Str 5 AP 3 Librarian / Grand Master

yeah those rules would make it more useful. Save Brother Captains are only Psy Level 1.

less of this over kiddy/teenage fanwank in the dex. i want my puritan GK back without such hilarious broken fluff stuff like carving initials of someone in a daemon primarchs heart.

also i wish for the inquisition to dissapear entirely. make GK what it is, GK. either that or make a big =I= codex with Inquisitors, GK, Sisters, deathwatch.

I do not see the fluff going anywhere in the near future Brother Evil or Very Mad even if it does seem to getting more and more of a stretch.

The =][= to vanish completely?! The GK are the military arm of the =][= Why do you feel that the =][= has no place in the GK codex? scratch

because of how it currently runs, the other ordos are the one that got the short end of the straw. there is no reason to have hereticus/xenos inquisitors to be in the GK book. so either they do it right the next time or simply just leave it alltogether.

Okay, now I understand what you mean. So you would like to see only Ordo Malleus Inquisitors in the GK Codex.
That makes sense, perhaps they could even add in some new Inquisitors and/or special abilities/powers etc...

I like the fluff, nothing personal Borther Souba Razz , but I would actually like to see more daemon Primarch heart carving. Because GK are awesome!

Rules wise I would like to see the return of WS5 (in elites at least). A honour guard like unit and a command squad as well. I see that the next GK codex will only feature GK with no Inquisition, so there has to be new ways to fielding cheap units (speacially troops). Cost reduction on all units (specially Borther Captains and while we are at it, give them something intersting to actually field them). I would also like to see Chaplains (as in the BL books). A warlord trait table of course and hope we don't loose our psychic powers.

They are by far the coolest model with respect to the GK Ss box. It's such a shame that they are not competitive...

I hope we maintain some of our uniqueness through addition of other units that differentiate us from the rest of the imperium... So far we have psycannons, dreadknights and super terminators which are not even super-competitive...

Another flyers or unique vehicle would be nice..

If they keep our elite, low numbers vibe, make us more resilient against mass shooting somehow.

to be honest brothers. as i currently am building my GK to more like admech units to fit to my inquisition i am working on a 5 man squad of PAGK and am seriously considering grabing that psilencer... its not the greatest weapon thats for sure but in the area i play around there are lots of flying monsters.. and those 6 extra shots for free.... why not.

Teleport homers should definitely be more widespread across the army, especially considering how important teleporting is supposed to be. Also, the Brotherhood Champion should be deep striking with the rest of the army, not waiting for a landing ship.
I think interceptors are better off being rare. From a background perspective the technology is hard to build and use, while from a gaming point of view, 60 marines in 12 squads who can shunt 30" and claim objectives sounds like a very broken idea. Why would the Botherhood Champion even do that anyway? He can't even teleport normally.

Some of the current background is just silly, but there are interesting things like the terminus decree I suppose.

I'd be willing to pay a steep points increase for an S5/6, AP4/3 beast of a gun...

Alternately, add some more special rules to make it more viable somehow... Grav guns are cool, psilencers are not.

I'd even be willing to roll on some plasma-esque "gets-hot" table... Or, since it's likely a Xenos design according to fluff, and is the most psykically active weapon, give it a modified warp hazard table, with the possibility of it summoning D3 daemons into play which are then in assault with your squad...

Or make it like the tau riptide nova reactor thingy, you can chose to charge it for massive damage, but at a risk of opening a rift in warp space or some other hazard...

Something needs to be done to brig our most unique gun to the fore

well the psycannon has twin profiles. 2 or 4 shots at same str/ap but assault/ heavy.


Why not change psilencer to same?

I'd prefer it if they retconned it away from firing 'mind-bullets'.
It seems to have large barrels, so maybe some kind of psyk-out grenade launcher? d3+1 S4 blasts would be useful against the hordes. Giving it psi-strike would make it overpowered against some armies though, most notably Grey Knights.

Maybe a single small S5 blast when used as an assault weapon or a S5 large blast when used as a heavy weapon to represent the saturation bombardment of using a grenade assault cannon. Obviously the points cost would go pretty high.

The model has a cable rather than an ammo feed, but I'm sure something could be worked out.

salvo is a terrible weapon type. having only halve the range shooting when moving with the model in addition to having less shots is just... crap.. stick to the assault/heavy modes

in the same regard.. lets hope in the future dex the psycannon does not also become a salvo weapon

The salvo rule is quite close to the 'suspensor' rule which supposedly how they make the psycannon mobile for PAGK, so I'd say there's a good chance of it happening. That said, I'd expect them to extend the range to at least 36. On the other hand, that would make it a higher strength version of the Deathwatch heavy bolted which they might try to avoid.
