Re: Starting my Crusade
Terminators and GKGM are always a good choice when it comes to GKs
with the 7th edition a librarian could be useful too !
and of course one or two PAGK unit(s) ...

Gonna throw this out there like always:magnetise magnetise magnetise! It's really easy with marines, especially with termies and in the long run saves you money. Plenty of people round here who can offer advice on it as well.

Re: Starting my Crusade
Also, Rhino/Razorbacks used as dedicated transports are useful for PAGK in a few ways.
First, they can utilize the psychic power, Sanctuary, which provide a +1 invunerabke save to itself and units. PAGK normally have no invulnerable save, with Sanctuary, the now have a ++6, equipped with a sword, they have ++5.
In addition, they can utilize from Command Benefits: Objective Secured, which allows them to score objectives.

Re: Starting my Crusade
Once you get a squad of terminators and a squad of power armoured knights it depends very much how you want to play.
Despite having a relatively low selection of units I haven't seen any two grey knight armies that fight in the same way.
I tend to use deepstrike over vehicles, not because vehicles are flawed, but because I see a Grey Knight army as being a terminator strike force supported by a handful of power armoured knights. That's what they were when I first encountered them in the Space Hulk Companion, and that's how I'm going to use them. Power armour and rhinos are for codex chapters, not an army that specialises in teleport attack. Such is the blight of being more tied to history than even the Imperium. On the other hand others would see my army as less competitive because of variables added in the teleportation process, though I use interceptors to make sure no knight squad fights alone.
Rhinos and razorbacks could definitely be useful with the objective denial. Sanctuary will be most useful on the stormraven for me. Being able to zoom it to any close combat on the board to help squads out with a 3++ save is going to be mighty handy.

Re: Starting my Crusade
Thanks guys lots of useful tips! So I'll get a termi squad, GK squad and a couple of Rhinos to start.
Just one more thing: Sai you said " I haven't seen any two grey knight armies that fight in the same way", so GK are quite flexible in terms of lists?

Re: Starting my Crusade
they can. It's like any other codex out there. For instance. I never ever ever play a game without a Librarian (Libby for short) on the board. No matter what list. I ran an all Purifier list once or twice. Only one with a 2+ armor save was the Libby. In my experience most people don't run a Libby in a strait Purifier list. In fact go browse the Army Roster section you'll see what we mean.

Re: Starting my Crusade
Welcome, brother Martius! I suggest that you get your hands on a Nemesis Dread Knight once you have established a base core for your knight army.
