Vorth Mordrak Grandmaster_colored_by_majesticchicken-d41o5bwVorth Mordrak Chaos_Lord_Huron_Blackheart_zpsed6244e4

I am going to be basing my GK force off of Mordrak's fluff:

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Vorth_Mordrak

I want to build on his existing fluff and work in personal touches such as why my GKs are wearing black armour with silver hands…
I was wondering if any of you know which Brotherhood Mordrak leads? Second, third, fourth… scratch

Great Idea Brother. But I can't actually help you. No idea what Brotherhood he leads. But on a second guess I think that's left opens, so player can build their own "fluff" around Mordrak.

Anyways, looking forward to see your GK force!

Black Armour with Silver hands?

what is your army list constantine?

If you have Paladins in it then maybe they can be in black armour as they are Voth's bodyguard...

I think B/W would be much nicer. B+Silver looks too much like Iron Hands. Although I concur, that painting scheme looks badass on the tabletop.

Vorth Mordrak Empty Re: Vorth Mordrak

Post by Constantine Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:48 pm

My color scheme is black with silver fists and wrists.
Great minds think alike Brother Corennus! I was thinking that this colour scheme was representative of the brotherhood mourning their losses and marking their commitment to hunting down Huron. Perhaps they will revert to plain armour when their vows of vengeance are fulfilled and Huron is killed.

I realized that I have restricted myself fluff wise by using Mordrak, so...... I will put all the Mordrak fluff that I can find together, and then focus on creating fluff for the Librarian that fits in with it, such as the Librarian using his prognosticar like abilities to translate from the warp in the middle of Huron's Red Corsair fleet and present the opportunity to board Huron's flagship to Mordrak during the raid on Bakka: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Raid_on_Bakka#.Up1Q1qU7vwJ

I was thinking that the Librarian was one of the survivors from the first Armageddon war and faught against Angron. I will flesh this out more in he future (as time permits), but essentially the librarian is a trusted friend and advisor to Mordrak. I will make up some more amazing deeds, and cool names (One idea is Bright blade…the librarian wields a mighty relic force sword with a built in storm bolter that is said to inspire those around it to achieve great deeds and devours shadows) etc.. to attribute to him in time.

Isn't fluff fun!!!!

I think all black armour is getting too far away from the basic Grey Knight colours Constantine. If you're using Terminators then you can make their Heraldry Shields black and also maybe their helmets and Gauntlets.

Umm a Nemesis Force Sword with built in stormbolter? I suppose the storm bolter is the hilt and the sword blade comes out the top of the stormbolter.

Only one thing to say to that...."Ulysses! Ulysses!! Sailing through all the Galaxies!"

You could certainly have it that (like the Dark Angels) most of the Brotherhood is on normal duties, but those closest to Mordrak are sworn to follow him on a personal crusade against the Red Corsairs.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken the original colours for GK were black and silver, back in the day were the rules for GK Terminators were published, first in WD and then in Index Astartes.
There you could find the fabled Nemesis Halberd with the built-in storm bolter. It could fire limited amountds of shots, but made up for the two handed nature of the nemesis weaponry. Hope I'm not mistaken though...

You are tight on track Brothrer Donfer.
I will post pics of the art you are refering to when I get home from work. The old metal GKs all have bolsters built into their swords and halberds, so not far from the GK colors or weaponry at all really Wink

So here is Mordrak in all his WIP glory!

Vorth Mordrak GMMordrak_zps5a4521d0

Following are the "fluff" explanations for his appearance:

I am using the Mace of Absolution as a counts as Daemon hammer. Vorth's mace constanly burns holy insence ( I will be modelling the smoke onto the mace at a later date) which is not only antithema to Daemons, but also inspires and focuses his men. It is even rumored that the insence assists Mordak to calm his own mind and increase his control over the persistant murmerings of the Brothers lost during the Mortain incident. I have yet to determine how/when/why Mordrak has this mace............scratch Some possibilities are as follows:

- The head of the mace was retieved from the wreckage of a Shrine of the Aquila on the surface of Mortain that Mordrak was burried under during Huron's fusion bombing of the planet.
- An award given to him by the DA following a significant collaborative mission
- Others?

I am also thinking of Mordrak as a Chaplain for some reason scratch As such, I like the look of the smoking Mace. This is also a partial reason for his grisseled face which I draw inspiration from the Ultramarine's Chaplain Cassiuss fluff. I want to paint the face to look very pale/skull like

Continuing with my "Chaplain" theme Mordrak's back banner also contains skulls from his desolated Mortain strike force as well as the broken fragments of his Brother captain's Nemesis Force Sword.

I will also model some form of Red Corsair battle gear into his base to signify Mordrak's ongoing quest to bring the traitor to justice.
That is all I have so far Brothers. What do you think?

The army is still a wip which consists of Mordrak, ghost knights, Libby, terminators/Paladins, Land Raider, and a Dread Knight. Razz

As you can tell I am more of a collector/modeller than a gamer Wink
Fluff wise, the army is a terminator armoured strike force.
